Veterans

I believe that I speak for myself as an Army veteran, but all vets out there as well. We truly appreciate all of your words of kindness.

This vet certainly appreciates it, and I appreciate that veterans in general are recognized this day. Thank you.

Great thread. Kudos to OP to initiate it.

God bless all and thanks to all the Veterans for their sacrifice and service.

Winter is here.

I remember as a kid watching the gulf war on tv. Now I see active duty service members and veterans (in general terms in society at large) who are my age and younger mangled emotionally and physically, forever changed. They are haunted by the ghosts of their friends and face enormous obstacles in their lives that the average civilian has no concept or comprehension of.
I truly do think you are all heroes. Even if you rode a desk or fixed trucks or prepared meals you still committed to a role of service to your country. Our country.
I just wanted veterans and active duty service members and their families to know that the average citizen does think about you, your friends, and your sacrifices.
The fact that literally all you ask for in return is a thank you blows my mind. So I thank every veteran I see all the time, not just on Veterans Day. From the bottom of my heart.

The world is so different than even 20 years ago and it seems to me that it gets more dangerous on a daily basis.
To those that serve to protect our freedom and way of life, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I cannot imagine the bravery that takes on a daily basis.
Most soldiers I have met do not serve to further an agenda by the current political power/administration. They serve to protect the rights of their fellow citizens. I just want you to know that your sacrifice is not forgotten.

A thousand times, thank you.

Much appreciated. If any single ladies are looking for Veterans, a lot of us are secretly nerds, so game stores like Battlegrounds in RVA, and Gigabytes Cafe in ATL, and the various conventions. Nerd or not, a lot of us now sport long hair and/or beards. I rock the face fuzz.

The female veteran, national treasures every one, are more elusive. From my experience, they throw themselves into college/career, which only makes them more difficult to find in a social setting.

But, to both my brothers and sisters in arms, I love you all dearly, and I hope all of you are happy and doing well. God bless you all.

I am pretty sure I'm banned from official veterans day next year. This was the 4th year in a row I managed to get hurt. This time I popped another tendon.

Good thing my regular days are veterans day.

Thank you all for your service :rose:

Thank you for the thanks. ;)

I tend to not use this as part of my identity. I was proud to serve, and now serve in a support capacity (to an extent), and it certainly defined me.

I guess I try and redefine myself daily, so that's a thing.
