I am really suprised this is the first thread made about this day, rather saddened by it too.

For The Fallen

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

I also came across this on facebook earlier today, I think it sums up a lot in its imagery and the accompanying poem that I dont need to explain.

Lest we forget.

My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to you all. Our true Heroes are our Veterans. My humble thanks !

I served in the Army, went thru a Special Forces course at Ft Benning.... Then went to Panama where I was in a group that tested "stuff"

Happy Veterans Day...

For all you have done and continue to sacrifice...Words are not enough, but with immense respect, honor and gratitude...Thank you...and God Bless...

I love this quote ..." Heroes don't wear capes or tights,they wear dog tags and combat boots"...

:heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart:

In Australia it is celebrated as Remembrance Day: at 11 am on the 11th day of the 11th month there is a minute's silence all round the nation. Even workers in their workplaces simply stop and remember!

To all that have served are who are serving, a very humble thank you. A thank you to their families as well. It takes a special person to do the things you do and for that I am grateful.

I'll say thanks here to all the vets who served and remember one in particular. Thanks Dad.

Most of you know Everyday is Veterans Day in my world.

Today I was on ROCK STAR duty....
I survived back to back events today driving a 93 year old WWII Wave who doesn't realize how much everyone looks at her as a ROCK STAR. She held 400 high school girls in her hand this morning talking to them. Then we hauled butt to our VA and there she was mentioned in our Congressman's speech.

I got to take her to lunch after and even there a huge amount knew her and came over for hugs and to say Hi. I was so proud of her... not once did she take off and jump a Harley while I was stuck in traffic so I had to track her down after. Don't laugh, she's done it 2 times this year alone!:eek:

I just hope I can jump a Harley when I'm 93 :D

A huge thanks to the men and women that served and were willing to give it all up so we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. It was my honor.

I am really suprised this is the first thread made about this day, rather saddened by it .

That's because people really don't care. It is terribly sad and a testament to the nobody gives a fuck attitude that permeates society.

Here, the pussy guy asskissers have all day to kiss lick suck fuck blah blah fuckin blah every woman on here that wouldn't give a single one the time of day in real life.. But two minutes for a thread like this? Two minutes to wish someone a happy birthday? Well no fuckin way on that.

You fucks make me wanna hurl.

I want to give thanks to all our men and women in uniform. You lay your lives on the line for our freedom, safety and well being. Thank you for giving so selflessly. You are the reason I cannot hold back tears when I hear our anthem. You make me proud. :heart:

Those who serve their country so selflessly have my utmost gratitude and respect. My dad served in Italy in WWII - I'm so grateful that all of you are there to protect our way of life.

(This is NOT just to get off of slinger's list!)

Misread that for a moment. Because of the thread I won't mention what I thought you wrote. lol

And yes, thank you for your service. :kiss:

Thank you too.

Probably something dirty... perv. ;)

Suuuuuuure... no worries, I'm already certain you're not a guy. :D

This morning I showed my kids a video, the one posted in my thread. I told them that because of the brave men and women who have served and are serving, we are free. And to never forget.

Thank you to all of you and your families who have served and are serving. :rose:
