Lovely as always V!Hello Everyone, ANZAC DAY here in Oz. Sadly no WW1 veterans left and the WW11 vets are very thin on the ground also. Now, mostly Dawn Services around the country.
In times past there would've been thousands of service men and women marching in Sydney [on Anzac Day]. I can remember back in the sixties as a young lad watching the march on TV.....thousands of veterans from the first war and second....there were even a few Boer War vets (in Land Rovers). Time waits for no one.
My grandfather was at Gallipoli and served on the Western Front also. He was gassed towards the end but at least survived. He died before I had an opportunity to talk to him about his experiences and indeed, at the time, I didn't really understand the importance and magnitude of it all. I do now.
On a lighter note.....................
