Valentine's Day Story Contest 2009 Reminder and Support Thread

I don't know whether to feel jealous or envious or depressed at being left out. The anon poster has apparently skipped my story. Unless, that is, it's KK from Texas.

Maybe he/she got bored -- or getting called out on that whole "Valentine's is in winter" thing was embarrassing enough to shut 'em up :D

well i finished... something... now just the usual problem of trying to find an editor to help me get rid of my worst english mistakes... and of course i meant this story to be in romance, but now it doesn't seem romantic enough, but doesn't really fit into any other category either.

Just finished mine, too. Off for editing, so I should get it in a day or two before the end of the entry period.

Well, mine's in. Doubt it will make it with the midnight run, but who knows.

Made it in under 4 Lit pages, which I thought was going to be close. Love where the last page break is, too :D

hm the person i had in mind for editing my story seems to not have posted on lit since december, and i don't have their email adress...

there doesn't happen to be anyone here who is a bit bored and feels like editing a story?

Good morning Og,

I just posted my first story that happens to be a letter for the Valentine's Day Story Contest 2009. I do see it listed in my biography page, but I don't see it showing up in the list of Valentine stories. What did I do wrong and how can I correct it?

I am Yours SINSserely,

I am Yours SINSserely,

Sometimes, newly posted stories don't immediately show up in the NEW list, or on the contest pages. This usually corrects within a couple of hours at most.

Try checking to see if it's there now, because new VDay stories just posted, including mine :D

Brand New Flame

Edit: As a matter of fact, I just looked, and your story is now listed on the contest page. No worries :)

I am Yours SINSserely,

I've just checked. It's there.

Has your browser saved the Contest page as an earlier version? If so you might have to refresh that page.

I'm not the fount of all knowledge about contests - just the traditional starter of the support (and moaning) thread.

Good luck with your entry.

Og

Edited for PS: Welcome to the Authors' Hangout and watch out for those after your virginity.

Thanks for your answer, Og. I wasn't quite sure who or where to ask. I'm glad that you were there. I have many virtues, but patience isn't one of them. I asked that question and then had to get off to work. I do see that its there, now. I'm just a nervous Nelly thinking I had done it incorrectly. Appreciate your time.

And, thanks to Dark for getting back to me so quickly. I just finished telling Og that patience is not one of my strong points. Appreciate your time and information.

Thanks for your welcome. I appologize for reading that after the fact. Now, how would you suggest I protect my virginity? Be kind. I'm new.

Damn new kids! Sorry, but I don't understand the quote button. I'll shut up now and let you experts do all the talking.

No problem :) That's one of the things that this thread is here for.

==========

My story isn't doing too bad -- best showing I've had in a while, so far. Easily qualified at 90 votes right now, and somewhere around .30 higher than first day showing on everything I've entered lately.

Picking up votes and comments on older stories, too -- including the single vote I needed on one that pushed it over the 4.5 barrier for the first time :D

Now, if I could only trick a couple of people into reading my VR: DQ series, I might break those into H territory *laugh*

Guess I'd best start plotting and planning on my Earth Day story. Time for the annual return to Xantina's glade for "Forever of the Wood", drawing the plot thread I left dangling in Daughter into a pretty little bow ;)

The only way you can protect your virginity is not to make more than 29 posts on Literotica.

The evil denizens of the Authors' Hangout are likely to post messages you just HAVE to respond to so they can pop your cherry.

Once you have lost your virginity then your next targets are 100 posts so that you can have an AV, and 1000 posts so that you can have a personal slogan. After 1000, you can call yourself Slack Alice - your virginity will be a distant memory.

Reminds me of a joke posted on DG's thread

This couple were in bed getting busy when the girl places the guys hand onto her pussy.

"Put your finger in me..." she asks him.

So he does without hesitation, as she starts moaning. "

Put two fingers in...", she says. So in goes another one.

She's really starting to get worked up when she says,

"Put your whole hand in!".

The guy's like, "Ok!".

So he has his entire hand in, when she says moaning aloud

"Put both your hands inside of me!!!".

So the guy struggles and eventually gets both of his hands in!

"Now clap your hands..." commands the girl.

"Hell! I can't", says the guy.

The girl looks at him and says

"Tight isn't it?"

Hi, SIN, and welcome to AH. Another way to protect your virginity is to post nude photos of yourself, front and rear views. :D

Is this the time I'm supposed to not say anything?

Do you think I should protect my virginity? Is that a good thing on here, or bad thing on here? Or, on here, is bad, the good thing to do?

Have you all read my letters? Can you pictue your mother writing these letters?
Have any of you made comments?

Do any of you know how to give feedback to a virgin? Do you think DG has a joke for that, too?

How do I rack up points for my Valentine story? Where the hell is the BFW when you need him?

Not really my thing, but it feels pretty natural to me. There are hints of who the person on the other end is, but just enough to make you wonder, without destroying the illusion of happening across a personal letter between two people you don't know.

Contrary to the 'fairy tale' comment, I think there's just the right touch of "life getting in the way" to make it feel real, while still conveying a bit of a fairy tale day, conjured up by careful planning, rather than magic.

Letters is a really tough category. It doesn't get read much, and commented on even less. This is the second story in the category that I've ever read, actually.

I'd say you did quite well, even if it isn't necessarily the sort of thing I usually read.

Thank you for taking the time to read it. I appreciate your comments, too. I wrote it that way because we ALL have secrets we are hiding. Don't we, Dark?

The BOSTONFICTIONWRITER Makes a Comment

I am so excited! I just checked the comments on my stories and the infamous, BOSTONFICTIONWRITER has made a comment on one of them. I'm beside myself. He read my letter. Woohoo!

I thought he was dead. He's alive. He's somewhere out there, maybe in a snow storm, paying someone to plow out his huge driveway he bought with all his lottery money.

Maybe my letter will inspire him to write back to me threw Literoctica. What fun that would be. How 'bout it, BFW? Lick the stamp, baby! Stick it in the box! Let's get busy.

Hi There
YoursSINSerely, Welcome to the A/H and even more to the contest thread. I'm DG and I do have a joke for most anything. I also do like the sense of humor that BFW has.

To be honest, it takes time to build up a readship. You did the right thing by posting for the contest. You will get more reads for posting in the contest. Your overall votes avg. may be lower but don't let it stop you. Just give it your best and good luck to you. Most of your votes will come in the first couple of days although you will still get reads for a long time.
With respect
DG Hear
