Valentine's Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

Would be nice to see the final 10 stories...I am rather vain...and know I was close...and would like to know exactly where I finished...

ALthough they do say curiousity killed the cat...

Thanks Luna :) I was surprised actually because I didn't get half as many votes or views as a lot of them (does this give me cult status?).

Well done to everyone else!
Firebrain, I wrote three stories for this contest. This one had the least reads and the least votes. It ended up wwith around 180+ votes. It goes to prove that you don't need an excessive amount of reads or votes as long as you qualify. Congrats! to you
With high respect
DG

DG, you placed!. No more of that, "I'm just an amateur writer." OK? *giggles* Look at your stories and all the Hotness there and try to say that again. LOL Your story was so sweet and it also made tears well up.

I haven't read the 3rd place story yet. I will though.

I for one am quite pleased and giddy with my 4.71!!! I was slightly worried about it offending or lacking. Thanks to everyone that read, voted, commented, gave feedback, and supported my story!

Each contest gets more fun. This one was a blast. I loved connecting with new people too! Earth Day on my mind. I wonder: Can you slip a bit of Arbor Day in there too? :)

Thank you Luna. I was a bit surprised myself. I always seem to do well until the final sweeps. This time I guess my story held on. What is different is that it was in the non-erotic category. I would like to give a special Thank you to PennLady. She came forward and agreed to edit this story when I most needed it.

I would like to congratulate everyone that entered stories. I do wish you all the best in your future writing.
With respect for the authors on Lit
Thank you
DG

Not this time -- sorry. I'll probably track the Earth Day contest, but things conspired to make this one too daunting.

Even then, it's not perfect. Only Laurel knows for exactly where everyone ranked at the moment of final judgement. All I can do is get snapshots of what everything looked like around the time of the announcement. I have come up with the same winners as Laurel every time but one, though -- and I chalk that one up to bad timing of when I checked all the data.

Time to get the Earth Day thread up and rolling, Ogg! Only 15 days until the starting gun!

Cangratulations to the winners and, especially to you, Firebrain. That is quite an accomplishment, considering how new you are here. :)

By no means is that to say you did not deserve to win, because your entry was very good.

The Authors' Hangout Last Place Contest - Valentine's Day 2011

Last Place Contest

Rules for Last Place contest.
****

Order for coming last:

Lowest voted rating for a genuine attempt at a story multiplied by number of votes if less than 25 divided by 25.

So - if rating is 3.00 but only 12 votes the score would be

3.00 x 12 / 25 = 1.44

If rating is 3.00 but more than 25 votes, the rating stays the same.

I suggest ignoring number of reads except as a tie breaker when least number of reads would *win*.
****

Since the 'winner' actually wins nothing, it is pointless to cheat. To enter, all you have to do is declare your rating and votes at the time the real contest is decided.
Participation is entirely voluntary.

Og is banned from entry for life because he finds coming last too easy and is a past multiple winner of last places.

For the last place contest, 1 votes are very valuable and 5s are bombs.

Og (whose decision is final unless you all gang up on me)

Congratulations to Firebrain and the other winners!

Super stories, all.

Now to get down and dirty, really really earthy, for the Earth Day contest!

Congratulations, and some celebratory bananas, :nana::nana::nana: to the Valentine's Day 2011 Contest winners.

First Place ($150 Cash Prize Winner):
She Needs a Montage!
by Firebrain

Second Place ($100 Cash Prize Winner):
Valentine's Day Remembered
by DG Hear

Third Place ($75 Cash Prize Winner):
Emily's Valentine
by allusive1

I think there were more entries than last year and I think the quality of entries continues to improve, so it gets harder to win - just like the Last Place (tm) Contest.

Og

What's a month? *laugh*

Time gets a little skewed when you're working as many hours as I have been lately. Damn snowstorms...

Did the snowstorms warp you to a new timeline?? LOL

Hoping to see an entry from you for Earth Day, Dark. :)

We just deal in a lot of rock salt, firewood, windshield wash, etc -- and we ship to places like Chicago and Michigan. They got bombed with snow, so we got bombed with orders. Lots of twelve and fourteen hour shifts. Drop the end of Valentine candy and the beginning of Easter candy on top of that, and it was a nightmare. I'm the swiss-army knife that they throw at wherever the daily fail is occurring, and the one who does most of the outdoor stuff. So I was running around at warp speed for the last couple weeks, about half of it dragging carts through the ice-glazed truck yard.

I'd better get this one done. I haven't missed this contest with my Wood universe since the first one of the tales, and I'd hate to dissapoint the fans who always look for the new one when the contest rolls around.

Congratulations to everyone who participated, but of course especially to Firebrain, DG Hear and allusive1!!! :D :D :D

But most of all, I would really like to thank everyone here for their help, support and encouragement! A month ago I was just a shy reader, and you all have been incredibly welcoming, supportive and SO HELPFUL - I can't thank you enough!

Have a wonderful evening everyone, and again, congrats to the winners!!! :rose::rose::rose:

Og, I've noticed the quality of stories improving too. Everyone put forth such a wonderful effort!

Sillypanda/ALY, you got "H"otness on your first writing effort. That's awesome. You should be so proud of yourself!

Dark: Geez. I hope the craziness slows down a bit as Spring approaches!

Congratulations to the winners. DGHear, you finally got one. Good job! I'd also like to thank Princess Erin and Boxlicker101 for the only comments received on my submission. See you all in the next contest.

Congratulations to the winners! Well done by all of the participants! It sure was a long list in this contest. I hope I will be able to take part in one of these special contests this year. I just have to get my act together and concentrate.

Congrats to the Winners!

Such good stories this year! There was so much heart in so many of these. I'd read all three of the winners and I have to say they were each very deserving!

Lovely contest, all!

Whoa - thank you so much! I didn't even notice that until you said so! And thank you for your comment as well! :*

I'd say a fair majority of the 5s were pity/kindness/for-your-first-time votes, but I don't care, I'll take 'em lol! xD *hugs cute little red H*

Congrats again to everyone, and thanks again to everyone for the support! :D
