My wife told me tonight that she had some type of discharge that was clear, slick, and almost like a wod of jello. She says she also had it last month about this time. She has never had it happen before. Any ideas on what it is?

it's probably normal if its clear and odorless (or at least not foul smelling). It might be that she was sitting/lying for a while and her body produced a little extra lubricant and it sat for a while and kinda gelled and when she became active (standing), it came out.
Yeast infection would not be clear---it would be a thick white discharge.
Since this happens on about a montly basis, it maybe that it is related to your wife's ovulation or other part of her cycle.

It's normal cervical mucous.

She's a bit dehydrated though.

During the secretory phase of most women's cycles crevical mucous becomes more clear and has the consistancy of snot, this is to help sperm move through the "rough" terrain of the vaginal canal, this is also an indicator of the time she is most fertile. About a few days later the mucous will dry up and become thicker in consistancy to either block the cervix from any infections if any conception has occured, or hinder sperm's passage to the cervix.

Any more gyno questions?

Are you a OB-GYN, badasschick?

Does a yeast infection ever *burn*? What happens to a yeast infection if left untreated?

I hope that's what it is. We have been trying to have a baby for over 11 years now, and she has been unable to get pregnant. They have always told her she didn't have enough cervical mucous. So why all of a sudden does it start last month for the first time in 11 years?

Nope, a good friend of mine is a snatch quack.

There are different kinds of Yeast infections depending on what kind of parasite has infected you.

True Yeast infections are caused by a fungus....the same kind that causes athlete's foot. There could be a whole array of symptoms from itching and burning to full blown skin lesions.

Other infections are caused by bacteria. It's best to see a snatch quack to find out which kind of infection is present, in order to determine a course of action. i.e. antifungal suppositories or antibiotics.

Two things can happen if a Yeast infection is left untreated. The body can fight it off...thus the discharges (the stuff is a mix of white blood cells, mucous, and waste products of the parasite) or the parasite can just feed off of you and make the condition persist opening up a host of complications such as PID.

Best thing is just to get to the Beave Doc and be done with it.

I'm sure in a way it is, but I was better off not hearing some of her horror stories.

But I'm always compelled to ask for an explaination, and thus I get it from her.

Anyone remember the "Mucous Method" of birth control? You would check your mucus for consistancy and be able to tell when you were most fertile.

I did that in the days of my cervical cap.

SOME devout Catholics still use this method. I have a friend who just delivered baby #4, conceived while attempting to use this method.
