After walking through the palace I had to rest. MY feet and leg hurt something fierce.......

As an aside........when I returned home and went for my checkup, my doctor laughed and said " we fixed up that leg so you could walk, not go traipsing over hill and dale and all those long walks"

Don't wan't to interrupt your sojourn....but you might say a few words about the Kiosks.....I think I can make out the word "chocolate" on one of them

er.....your feet may be tired... but you look happy ....Of course if Phoenix is taking the pic....the view must be terrific :)

Well, you know about my obsession for crazy mushrooms....:D

There was a small Easter Fair on the yard in front of the Schoenbrunn palace. They sold easter decorations and some of the kiosks offered refreshment. S. was in big need of a beer......overhelmed with all of the glamour in the palace. ;)

There were kiosks hawking wears from really nice stuff, too really touristy.......each a speciality.........and Phoenix ever seemed to have smile, she left me to look while I rested my leg.............

The next morning we packed our water bottles and grabbed the underground.......

Loved the transportation system at all three capitals......fast, efficient, and cheap............

We detrained near this church.........they wanted 12 euros to take a tour...........what is the church coming to!!!!!!!!!

Three blocks away we stopped in at the State Opera House......they were having concert that night and hawkers were on street in costume selling tickets......We went in but they weren't giving tours right then.............

As can be seen, Vienna also has Electric trolleys..........

Heh,....I suspect he was admiring the glamour of the photographer....You know how those southerners are..always polite and respectful....quick to shift their gaze to some far away vista..as to not be too forward:D

(OK...so Tommy doesn't count  )

I guess they might me a little short of congregation this day and age.

What a clean, beautiful city. can you imagine Atlanta or NYC being that well kept? Boston might come close... Even London is becomming a bit trashed out these days...I guess they are concerned with bombs in the trash receptcles... and have removed them. :(

Vienna is all about tourism!!! And yes very clean!! Atlanta no......NY!!!!!!!!!!! I accidentally got off I95 in the Bronx one summer.......We made four right turns to get back to interstate as quickly as the beemer could get our southern asses out of there.............:D

The center of the city in Vienna has stopped allowing commercial traffic and scaffolding was seen everywhere trying to get the black remnants of the pollution off the historical buildings!!!!!!!!!

I just lost a post??????????

St Stephen's was very accessible and I took a few minutes to contemplate my Christian beliefs.....

The Cathedral had been bombed extensively by the allied during WWII and is in a constant cycle of repair.

Actually two!!!!!!!!!

Atlanta never..........NYC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if you've never seen a Boston wharf rat....... Let's just say the chowder never tasted good afterward..... One summer I accidentally got off I95 in the Bronx. We made four right hand turns and got our southern asses out of there as quickly as the beemer could accelerate......:D

.
it wasn't lost afterall, just my poor eyesight here in the dark.............it might help if I got more than three hours of sleep two nights in a row.......

I was out at friend's and fell asleep in chair right after dinner last night.....:(

thanks for stopping by and keeping me straight!!!

WE paid a euro each to take the elevator up one of the towers at St Stephans........Phoebs was not real happy with how close it felt up there.....think she has a thing about heights.

But what a view of down town Vienna

she kept on taking pics of this old fart......I have hers too.....but they aren't part of our agreement....:)

Thank you for starting this thread

Maribor was a very interesting town, we were there in evening so my pictures didn't do it justice...

as an aside...on the building in the right of this picture is attached a very old grape arbor all along it's side.......it most look spectacular in season.............

thanks B........

after a morning of walking it was time to take a rest with a glass of vino and a chocolate confection.....it was scrumptidelicious...........:D

I just knew you were going to be able to cover some holes in my tour..........thanks Rania.....

As you know, I had to decide which museums to take in...should have taken in this one......:)

next we took an elevator down to the mausoleum for the Hapsburgs.......surprising these withstood the uprising in 1919....all the caskets were some type of metal except for one pair in wood; it was hermetically sealed chamber...nope no pictures from it...kind of ghastly.....:(

Off to rest for a bit......Ms P. walked the gardens at Shoenbrunn while I caught a few zzzzzzz's

that evening we caught a bus to a rural town outside Vienna...we wanted to get an authentic small town dinner and what a treat........the dinner was great and the hostess couldn't have been more charming...we even had the company of an elderly dog while we repasted.......

My photos are 4 years old, we were there in October '03.
Since I've been dragged in and out of Museums during most of my childhood and early youth, I'm not all that keen on visiting many or large ones any more
The Toys Museum was small and very fun... as was the Clocks Museum :)
