I don't think that an invasion of America is likely, I do think that anti-gun people, including many here that I generally like and respect, are a bit naïve, but in any case, that's a mental image that I found a bit amusing. It's far more likely that we'll just implode as empires tend to do, as will Russia and China about the same time. Russia's economy tanks first, triggering a crisis in China, which in turn causes a sell-off of their American assets that triggers a Wall Street/real estate crash that wrecks the global economy. Governments fall soon afterward, law and order vanishes, and we're facing warlords, gangs, factions, zealots, etc. at every turn.

That looks like as likely a scenario as any. I think most people here are quite naive and cover it either with anger/hate or hysteria. Damned few seem worthy of trust. That's okay, because they weren't on the guest list in the first place.
