But if you want to sit.. Then it needs to be waterproof (I recommend water column pressure 20.000) and breathable, unless you fancy to freeze to ice inside your parka.
(Arctic winds, they will get inside your clothes.. do not be sweaty! )

Aye! The buffs. Not scarfs, that is a city thing, and only if you are walking.
Do not to forget in the drawer under the buffs (looking at my drawers right now 🙈)

The liner gloves!

So, you got yourself some good Hestra army leather gloves, good start!
But.. artic winds, fingers being notoriously difficult to keep warm.
You need several liners.

- Oh!! Keeping warm - I ended up with some Falke merino wool socks, they are quite lovely. 🥰

i will go for water and windproof - most of my jackets are.

Gloves are tricky as i take photos a lot. I have some "mitten" style where the top flips back and only certain fingers are uncovered... the same with the thumb.shooting/fishing gloves are good for this and Decathlon also did some

my feet never stay warm, so i have fleecy lined boots for snow. got some a size bigger so i can wear thick socks, or two pairs. my decathlon winter boots have been ok so far.

the only time i got really cold was in Sweden, but it was -25 and 95% humidity. ice crystals fell from the sky. luckily there was kannebulle and coffee

That is the weird and tricky weather up here - normally when the temps drop that low, one would assume, and rightfully so! That the humidity would follow.

Well.. not always. That weather.. That is just plain bone marrow- chilling, mean, sticky cold.

Almost nothing can keep you warm from that weather, that is "stay inside and read a book" weather. 😅
(Unless you like to spend a lot of energy trying to stay warm and even more energy to get warm afterwards, the cold stays in your bones.)

Buuuuuut... I may be a bit intrigued, that weather sounds kinda interesting and fun to experience!! 🤩

Feet are difficult to keep warm as well, ugh.. when it drops a bit more, then I am going to change to my skiing socks.

But... In the city? I still wear my usual trainers! 🤦🏼‍♀️

it was VERY cold. i was confused as to why it was snowing when the sky was clear... then saw it was ice crystals. It was next to a huge lake, hence the humidity. It was certainly colder than above the Circle in Norway where i have been a few times as the humidity is low there.

Annoyingly, i was standing around, watching winter sport! i did make use of the reindeer skin benches next to the open fires and the coffee tents. My step count was really high as you'd keep marching on the spot to stay warm.

I remember screaming (internally mainly, but some sounds slipped out) as i flipped the end of my glove off to take a photo. 30 secs and the pain was awful.

Mostly i would find a restaurant in advance... scamper there and then scamper back, wearing most of the clothing i took.

anyway... positively balmy here in comparison

Exposing your skin in that weather is bloody dangerous!! 😳 Hope the photo turned out good.
Seriously.. That must have hurt so badly, I do not even want to imagine it.

Nothing, absolutely nothing can keep you warm under those conditions.

My guess is that you were up around Vänern?
That lake is so beautiful!!! (And there are some great snow sport areas there!!)
Or.. was it up in Åre?

I have not been skiing in Åre.. yet. 😉

And yeah, well.. while the temps rarely get below -15°C here (courtesy of Nordsøen and Skagerrak), the same oceans are the culprits to our sticky cold weather.
And why my friends from Greenland tends to complain over the cold down here, because it freaking seeps into your skin and bones.

It is not even that cold right now, 3°C, but raining and with a humidity of 91% right now.
The cold is sticky.

This is appropriate indoor clothes:

it was close to Åre - 63 degrees North (just short of the magic Circle). it was lovely, but cold and SO much snow... they had trouble clearing it, so there were 20ft high piles beside the roads in places. I tried sightseeing, but gave up as everything was under the snow or the paths were buried

the UK is nasty and dank in winter, it often feels colder than it is. I live near the river, so it is very humid and damp.

You? You’re a spring chicken!!

But falling on ice!!

We have these ice-rinks in the city, and while they look cosy and sweet (there is obviously gløgg to be had!!), I cannot get over the fact; I may fall on that hard ice and that looks painful!
(And what if I break something!)

On the other hand; learning to ski in my late 30's and getting totally bitten by it, yes yes yes!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Cold weather activities, they are all a bit mad if you think about it. 😂
