Dads heart was sick(triple byypass in his 50s and more stents then we could count)...it was only pretty much keeping his heart and his brain alive enough to barely function. Less then 40 bpm and the emt couldnt get a blood pressure reading when he went to the hospital the day before he died. Mom has COPD and is headed for a bout with pneumonia due to the stress of losing my father.
I'm actually so happy that he saw me quit and knew i beat it before he died (he owes me dinner though). With all these genetic health issues I really didn't need to be speeding up my own death by smoking.

And ya know what?
I'M PROUD OF ME FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A VERY LONG TIME! :)

You have every reason to be proud KC. You have come through a difficult time and remained true to your goal.

You deserve to be proud of yourself. You always have deserved to be proud of yourself - just didn't want to give yourself permission to be. But we've had that discussion before, ya know.

I'm all smiles for you, KC. Congratulations.

And just think, the next 7 weeks can't possibly be as difficult as these were.

Congratulations on th quitting smoking!!!
I know it is one of the hardest things in the world to stop. i do not do it but know enough who do and some who stop only to start right back up again

i have faith in you and those close to me to stop someday
Good luck!!

I lost my father on thursday. I DID NOT smoke a cig...as many times as I really wanted to I knew that I could just not do that because he was really cheering me on.

Almost 5 weeks now. Thank you all for the encouragment.

:rose: Sorry I missed this..***** has been a bit more busy than usual around here. I am sorry for your loss and know how difficult it can be. You have reason to be proud that you didn't reach for a cigarette at any point in the past few weeks, but especially at this time.

F was told about chantix by a work colleague yesterday and is thinking of giving it a try to quit yet again. The only concern he has are the possible side effects she told him about.

If I can count (and that's not a sure thing), it's 60 days today :D

Way to go, KC! :rose: x bunches and bunches!

I don't think there are side effects....or at least any major ones.

I heard it turns you into a female submissive, but that wouldn’t affect KC, because she is one already.

OK, obviously, I'm joking on that side effect, but everybody is different. So some side effects might be more prominent on some, and not even noticed on others.

One I always think about...I am taking one medication that the PDR mentioned the development of "man breasts" on some men. I don't notice that side effect, at least not yet. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I never do.
