Home from gathering with the Saturday night crowd.


I did something I usually don't do. They had ribeye on special tonight, so I got it. I almost never get steak in a non-steak place. It could have stood to be marinated, but otherwise it was excellent.


And they brought me enough sides that I don't think I could have eaten all of that 30 years ago.


Then there was the night my first wife and I ate something like 12 or 14 dozen shrimp on some all you can eat deal. That was good eatin' . . . .

Mariah was howling all night last night, and still is although less so. T'Storms forecast for this afternoon and tonight. Hopefully they'll dump on the existing fires and not spark new ones......we'll see.

He hasn't been in a cat carrier since I brought him home going on 6 years ago.


It's not like I've been around much to take him for rides recently, but I do wish the idea had come to me earlier . . . .

I had two different Siamese that loved to go for rides. The dashboard was their preferred observation perch. One of them liked to ride so much you had to check the car before you went anywhere because he'd get in if the car was open and wait for his chauffeur.

I've heard stories of cats that came up missing because of things like that.


My cat whisperer friend lost one of his for nearly three months. Close as we could calculate, the cat got in the landscapers' truck and took a ride to their next stop. He found a food source and stayed in a culvert, and his human found him and brought him home.


What's weird is trying to fathon how he found the cat, but he did.


And that's one of the reasons why he's the cat whisperer.

There were a couple of close calls with the one cat.

There was a neighborhood lady down in Miami that had a Ocelot as a pet. That cat liked to ride stretched out across the top of the front seat. One day she was at the local service station when a couple of dogs noticed the cat and started running around her car barking. The dogs started to interfere with her getting back in her car................so she let the cat out.

You never saw two brave barkers turn into tail between the legs haul asser's so fact in your life. The cat just strolled back to the car and resumed viewing the world from its perch.
