How did Putin benefit from Trump? Let me count the ways:

-Russia was behind some of the biggest cyberattacks that have hit the country recently, the solar winds is one of the worst cases because it has allowed Russian intelligence to gain access to 10's of thousands of sensitive systems in the government.

-The pipeline hack that shut down that pipeline was in place long before Biden took office, and it was done by Russian hackers who are tied to military intelligence (it was ransomware, they got like 10 million to undo it, but it is tied to the military).

-My company while Trump was in office had a surge of attempted DOS attacks, and the increase was all Russian and it was their intelligence service hackers. Other companies experienced the same thing, it was sent to the government agencies in involved (it is a number of them, NSA, homeland security, military), and the response? "We are looking into it. "

Net result? Nada, Nyet, nothing. No new sanctions, no retaliation, nothing. Trump didn't meet with allied leaders and come up with a strategy to punish Russia , nothing.

-Trump also allowed Russian companies that were on sanctions lists to be able to do business with US companies again, and those businesses (surprise surprise) had close ties to Putin. Actually, almost all indusry has Putin as a 'silent partner" these days.
