Federal judges said Tuesday that North Carolina will have to quickly redraw its 13 congressional districts because the map is unconstitutionally partisan.

The three-judge panel rejected the previous map drawn by the Republican-controlled General Assembly, saying it violates the Equal Protection Clause, the First Amendment, and Article I of the Constitution.

That was in January 18. Same kind of ruling happened in PA.

However, the Congressional House of Representatives has the authority to regulate and modify any State redistricting effort. Next census...2020...wanna take bets which Party will still control the Congressional House?

All you have to do is draw the lines so that democratic numbers are more evenly spread among districts, just as it is now for republicans. It is a numbers game. Personally, I think this power should be taken from the Party in charge...but that will require a Constitutional Amendment. That won't happen. So what the Republicans did in 2010...will be done to them.

against them based on the electoral map.

The D's won the House but lost the election. They turned out massive numbers of D
voters and still only managed to basically break even. Obama campaigned for 5 D
candidates and went 0 for 5. Trump campaigned for 11 R candidates and (so far)
went 10 for 11. That's not "barely" either.

What the D's did was overwhelm some R districts by sheer numbers, not by any
message or positive campaign or good candidates. That's not a good sign for 2020
because the R's are now clued up. And, if the D's run with their intended agenda of
legislate by retribution, they're going to lose D votes as well.

Cruz barely held onto Red Red Texas. They booted D Senators in very red States by SLIM margins, lost Nevada, might not get FL, and will lose AZ. The seats they picked up were D held in states Trump won in by huge margins--and only barely. Hardly a red wave.

In fact, the Senate races were heavily tilted in the R direction this go around. As I said, they eked out wins in super Trump states; not very encouraging. They barely defended what they had while Dems flipped a hell of lot and made big inroads into R territory.

When you factor in the House races, Obama won over Trump.
