Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim scraps project with Donald Trump after Mexico insults

television company controlled by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has canceled a project with real estate developer and TV personality Donald Trump after his comments insulting Mexicans, Slim’s spokesman said on Monday.

This is the third company to cut ties with Trump, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the November 2016 presidential election. NBC said earlier on Monday that it would no longer air the “Miss USA” and “Miss Universe” pageants due to his comments. Spanish-language broadcaster Univision [UVN.UL] also said on Thursday it would not air the “Miss USA” pageant.

Ora TV, a production company co-founded by Slim and TV personality Larry King and funded by America Movil , canceled a program it was working on with some of Trump’s companies, Slim’s spokesman and son-in-law Arturo Elias said.

“His statement was totally out of line…working with someone so closed-minded was not going to work,” Elias said, adding that the comments were racist.

I just try to understand why Mr. Trump does all this stuff. It HAS to boil down to ego. He is apparently very wealthy. It sounds like he has more money than he could spend. He probably has enough to take care of his future bloodline for several generations. Why not just shut up and enjoy a peaceful life. To me, all the stuff he's doing seems very aggravating and not healthy. Is it possible to need attention THAT much. Whatever happened to class? He could probably live a comfortable life AND help many underpriveleged people as well. He is embarassing and showing disrespect for our country. It's sad to me. I don't begrudge his success and wealth but jeez, shut up already.

He's certain of the drugs, crimes and rapists. He assumes some are good.

It's a big deal for a Puerto Rican to do this for statements made about Mexicans. At least where I am from.

Macy's dumps Trump!

On Wednesday morning, Macy's announced it would cut ties with Donald Trump following remarks made about Mexicans in his presidential campaign announcement speech. Macy's will begin to "phase-out" Trump's collection of menswear immediately and will "discontinue [their] relationship with Mr. Trump" entirely. Macy's has sold the collection since 2004.

"Macy’s is a company that stands for diversity and inclusion. We have no tolerance for discrimination in any form. We welcome all customers, and respect for the dignity of all people is a cornerstone of our culture. We are disappointed and distressed by recent remarks about immigrants from Mexico. We do not believe the disparaging characterizations portray an accurate picture of the many Mexicans, Mexican Americans and Latinos who have made so many valuable contributions to the success of our nation," Macy's said in a statement.
