I wanted to wish everyone on TC the warmest of holiday wishes. It is now officially Christmas Eve (at least in my timezone!) and I am unlikely to be back before Christmas. I hope that all of you receive that which you most wish for this Christmas ... it's probably impossible for all of us to get what we most want ... but it would be a wonder beyond compare ...

On another note, it appears that many people will be having a white Christmas. It's actually rather rare here in Denver (common in the mountains just a few miles to the west but not at all common here on the plains) but it appears that this year we may actually have a white Christmas. We've had about 4 inches of snow in the last two days and today the high was about 10 degrees F. No more snow forecast but tomorrow's high is only suppose to be 32 so hopefully the snow will not all melt off before Christmas morning (at one mile of altitude, with the sun shining, 32 degrees does cause significant melt ... it is probable that south-facing hillsides will be mostly bare by mid-afternoon tomorrow ... but hopefully the rest will still be here).

The Night Before Christmas, Legally Speaking

Whereas, on or about the night prior to Christmas, there did occur at a certain improved piece of real property (hereinafter "the House") a general lack of stirring by all creatures therein, including, but not limited to a mouse.

A variety of foot apparel, e.g., stocking, socks, etc., had been affixed by and around the chimney in said House in the hope and/or belief that St. Nick AKA/St. Nicholas AKA/Santa Claus (hereinafter "Claus") would arrive at sometime thereafter.

The minor residents, i.e., the children, of the aforementioned House were located in their individual beds and were engaged in nocturnal hallucinations, i.e., dreams, wherein visions of confectionery treats, including, but not limited to, candies, nuts and/or sugar plums, did dance, cavort and otherwise appear in said dreams.

Whereupon the party of the first part (sometimes hereinafter referred to as "I"), being the joint-owner in fee simple of the House with the parts of the second part (hereinafter "Mamma"), and said Mamma had retired for a sustained period of sleep. (At such time, the parties were clad in various forms of headgear, e.g., kerchief and cap.)

Suddenly, and without prior notice or warning, there did occur upon the unimproved real property adjacent and appurtenant to said House, i.e., the lawn, a certain disruption of unknown nature, cause and/or circumstance. The party of the first part did immediately rush to a window in the House to investigate the cause of such disturbance.

At that time, the party of the first part did observe, with some degree of wonder and/or disbelief, a miniature sleigh (hereinafter "the Vehicle") being pulled and/or drawn very rapidly through the air by approximately eight (8) reindeer. The driver of the Vehicle appeared to be and in fact was, the previously referenced Claus.

Said Claus was providing specific direction, instruction and guidance to the approximately eight (8) reindeer and specifically identified the animal co-conspirators by name: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen (hereinafter "the Deer"). (Upon information and belief, it is further asserted that an additional coconspirator named "Rudolph" may have been involved.)

The party of the first part witnessed Claus, the Vehicle and the Deer intentionally and willfully trespass upon the roofs of several residences located adjacent to and in the vicinity of the House, and noted that the Vehicle was heavily laden with packages, toys and other items of unknown origin or nature. Suddenly, without prior invitation or permission, either express or implied, the Vehicle arrived at the House, and Claus entered said House via the chimney.

Said Claus was clad in a red fur suit, which was partially covered with residue from the chimney, and he carried a large sack containing a portion of the aforementioned packages, toys, and other unknown items. He was smoking what appeared to be tobacco in a small pipe in blatant violation of local ordinances and health regulations.

Claus did not speak, but immediately began to fill the stocking of the minor children, which hung adjacent to the chimney, with toys and other small gifts. (Said items did not, however, constitute "gifts" to said minors pursuant to the applicable provisions of the US Tax Code.)

Upon completion of such task, Claus touched the side of his nose and flew, rose and/or ascended up the chimney of the House to the roof where the Vehicle and Deer waited and/or served as "lookouts." Claus immediately departed for an unknown destination.

However, prior to the departure of the Vehicle, Deer and Claus from said House, the party of the first part did hear Claus state and/or exclaim:

"Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!" Or words to that effect.

One particular X-mas season a long time ago Santa was ready for his X-mas run... but there were problems. Four of his elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones so Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule.

Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her Mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more.

When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More stress.

Then when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys. Santa went into the house for a cup of coffee and a shot of whiskey. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered that the elves had hid the liquor and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the coffee pot and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw it was made from.

Just then the doorbell rang and Santa cussed on his way to the door. He opened the door and there was a little angel with a great big X-mas tree.

The angel said, very cheerfully, "Merry X-mas Santa. Isn't it just a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Isn't it just a lovely tree? Where would you like me to stick it?"

Thus began the tradition of the little angel on top of the X-mas tree.

Oman, good for you!!! Sounds like it was definately the right decision for you and Jenny. I am wishing you two the best! Enjoy the holidays!

Our Christmas will be quiet this year as Nigel has to work tonight and tomorrow night, so no out of town travel for us. Although I am missing my family right now, I am grateful for some days off so I can work on unpacking more in our new home.

Confession: I have had several wacky, scary dreams as of late. One woke me this afternoon and I actually cried while it took me awhile to orient myself to real time. They have involved dreams of Nigel leaving me. In the dream this afternoon, he kept saying he was going to Vegas on February 14th and that he had talked to Jack and Jack said my fears were just getting to be too much for him to take anymore. WTF??!! :confused: Nigel agrees that they might be spurred on by buried stupid insecurities (that I really didn't think I had! and was not outwardly expressing in any way) and the fact that we have furthered our committment by moving into a house... Its so bizarre, but also kind of comical.

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone! My love to you all....

Good morning the day after Christmas! - ya know, I think I like this day just as much as Christmas if not more. Fridge full of leftovers, no guests, nothing that positivly must get done, no place to have to be......yep, don't get much better than this:D
 
My favorite recipe yesterday

Recipe for Christmas Joy

1/2 cups hugs

4 teaspoons kisses

4 cups love

1 cup of special holiday cheer

1/2 cup peace on earth

3 tablespoons Christmas spirits

2 cups of good will towards all

A sprig of mistletoe

And a medium size bag of Christmas snowflakes--the regular kind just won't do!

Mix hugs, kisses, smiles, and love until consistent. Blend in holiday cheer, peace on earth, Christmas spirits, and good will toward all. Use mixture to fill a large, warm heart, where it can be stored for a lifetime. It never goes bad! Sprinkle liberally with special Christmas snowflakes. It is especially good when accompanied by Christmas carols and family get-togethers.

Can be served under the mistletoe but just remember to serve to one and all.
 
Morning all....it is morning, right? ;)

Somehow the luck of fate has me off today. So guess I will be spending the day putzying.....a little of this, a little of that and I will NOT be helping retail sales :D

I have a confession; yesterday I did not even get out of my jammies, I was awake maybe for a grand total of 6 hours all day........I did manage to watch "Finding Nemo" all the way through....rest of the time was spent snoozing. I feel a bit guilty wasting the entire day being so unproductive.

I did log in and see that the grades were posted......I managed all A's....not sure how, but I did. :D
