Has anyone here used Trillian yet? It is capable of contacting ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, and doesn't get AIM (AOL) only because AOL keeps blocking it everytime they get the connection. No ads of any kind, and it's freeware, and comes highly rated.

I downloaded it and am going to try it. Source is Cerulean Software.

Yes, it does get AIM. I've never had a problem with it in that area.

The only thing I don't like about it is the emoticons. But that's so minor.

I happen to love it. Its so much easier than opening all four different IM's up and then run through them all.
For MSN, AIM and Yahoo, the functions are the the same as the actual program. I do however miss a few things from ICQ, but nothing of importance.

yes I love it.

Tried it and hated it. Dunno if they've fixed this yet, but it doesn't keep your block, invisibility, and privacy preferences... All the stalkers I've blocked over the years could suddenly contact me again...

You know, people keep saying that about the block feature, but I've never had it revert to an unblocked state. When someone is blocked, they stay blocked.

I don't know what y'all are talking about!

All my blicks are still active in Trillian too

I love it.....I never used anything but ICQ (which nobody likes, go figure) before it. Trillian lets me talk simultaneously on all messenger programs (ICQ, YAHOO, AOL, MSN, plus it has a built in IRC chat client.) while occupying only a small amount of my screen real estate with a uniform look and feel. I could never go back to using only one messenger.
hahahaha I sound like a commercial!

I had the AOL connectivity problem but trillian has updated each time AOL tries to defeat their connection.
Now why does AOL want to block trillian? Who knows...I don't use AIM (separate from trillian). Does AOL have ads built into the AIM service? That could be part of it...but AOL has turned ICQ into their whore with ads yet the conectivity remains unaffected there.

Perhaps AOL is simply updating AIM or it's servers as usual and that is what keeps breaking trilian's connectivity....

I said connectivity four times in this post.

The blocks seem to be fine now. As I glanced at the revision history I got the impression they'd handled that. And I kind of like the dead smiley face emoticon- XP
Still playing with the features. Smooth installation and imported my lists. I too hate having more than one messenger running.

And... ummm... love the connectivity of it all... (feeling peer pressure to use tech speak)

I just thought of a gripe...trillian keeps your history in a text file which you can refer to anytime by hitting the history button UNTIL the file becomes too large for notepad to open. With trillian actively writing to the file, wordpad/word etc. will not open the file to prevent a sharing violation. This sucks. You can't view the history withouth closing that chat window and hunting up the file yourself..

My blocks seem to be intact.....though I think I only have two or three....
