what DA hell?!?!

Is Disney really running out of ideas so badly that they have to slap two movies - Star Wars and Treasure Island - together and throw it out as a single movie?

I bet it's crap.. I'm so willing to bet it is.

And that has "what the fuck?!" to do with the thread?

Spinaroonie, you rogue!

And yes, Lion, Disney's getting very desperate these days! Having your animated ass handed back to you by Dreamworks (Shrek & Chicken Run in particular) will do that!

Well I agree Disney hasn't been great... But they haven't beed bad either. Toy Story 1 and 2 were great.. Emperors New Groove was simply awesome.. Monsters Inc was pretty good...

It's not as if they were on the verge of bankruptcy.

I'm with you on Toy Story 1 & 2, but Emperor's New Groove?! Yeeeccch! :p

i don't know why you're so shocked, they've always produced masses of dreck besides the few gems--we only usually remember the good ones. there were quite a few lean years before The Little Mermaid turned things around (quality wise) in the late '80s.

Even I thought The Emperor's New Groove was awesome, and I'm not a big David Spade fan.

Disney probably realizes that Robert Louis Stevenson isn't going to bring in the kiddies -- or require any neato special effects -- unless it takes place on Mars or something.

No dumber than Baz Luhrmann staging his Romeo + Juliet in 20th century Los Angeles.

TB4p

I used to think Disney was evil, but now I realize they're just unscrupulous. They'll rip off anything, and they have yet to put out a decent original movie.

I have lost nearly all respect I had for Disney. If they still made (or even showed) the original animated shows they used to produce (Goof Troop and the Rescue Rangers come to mind for some reason), I would probably have more respect for them. As it is, Disney's rather low on the list.

How you doing fg? :)

I'm doin' pretty good. Mass house cleaning and decorating going on.

T-Day is at my house again this year. Gawd! Why do I do this to myself?

how are you?

Don't blame the animators - blame Michael. "All movies shall be 90 minutes in length" which certainly cuts out a lot of creativity and character development. Quite a bit was excised from "Lilo and Stitch" for time reasons.

From some of the rushes I've seen, "Bears" (due out in 2004, IIRC) is looking pretty good, and has a pretty decent story (so far - Mikey will prolly get his hands all over this one, too).

I think Treasure Planet looks awesome. I want to see it. It's a story that's been retold many times now in different ways. That's what happens.
