Not true to anything remotely approaching the degree you probably think it is. Guns were a rarity in the real Old West. Just for starters, there's no evidence anyone was ever "called out" for a shooting at high noon. That was invented for the movie of the same name. The shootout at the OK Corral? It really happened, but the death toll was all of three people.

This is a terribly sad story but to make this about transphobia is simply not true and stoking a fire that doesn’t need it. This girl started the fight, it’s horrible that she died a little while after. Will be interesting to see what the autopsy reveals

Sorry, but this story definitely has to do with transphobia.

You can’t wish away the hate speech from Oklahoma officials and the fact that the girls who attacked Nex Benedict had been harassing them for a while before they sprayed some water on those girls.. The girls could have sprayed some water back on them, but they chose to physically attack them instead.: Possibly because they felt emboldened and empowered to harass and physically assault trans individuals, etc, by the hateful rhetoric of the "adults" in Oklahoma and elsewhere.

And the disgustingly hateful comment made by a state representative about people like Nex being "filth", in response to a woman questioning why the state was targeting trans and other non-cis individuals, sure as hell makes this a story about transphobia.

And I’m glad you so easily can know what was going on in those girls heads to say what motivated them. The facts, as they stand right now, don’t prove this had anything to do with her being trans (her own mom refers to her as HER over and over in the hospital without objection from the girl, so I will refer to her as her). If there is evidence that comes out to suggest otherwise I will admit being wrong. My tendency is not to immediately try to make something fit a narrative
