On Wednesday, February 20th, the moon is going to be totally eclipsed for a period of almost an hour. This will be the last time for three years that a total lunar eclipse will occur.

Lunar Eclipse

I have never witnessed a total lunar eclipse before. Assuming weather permits, I'll be outside at nine p.m., earning a crck in my neck ;)

It should be beautiful, too. My kids are staying up late to view the entire eclipse and we're having a viewing party in the back pasture.

But where have you been that you've missed all the ones before? There were two nice ones last year. Another couple in '03.

*sigh* Either busy or forgetful . . .

I don't watch TV news much, either

I've seen a total lunar eclipse before. Or almost. I mean, the moon was a faint red but that was all that was discernible. Is that what a full lunar eclipse is supposed to look like?

I saw one some years ago. I tried to sacrifice my younger sister but it was over before I caught her :(

The article explains why it looks red. It should be fascinating to watch.

I have seen several. I'm that mom who wakes up her children at night and drags them out to see all manner of celestial showing.

They are beautiful.

I'm that mom, too. My poor kids could find Cassiopeia in the sky before they could spell it. In the end it's contagious, though. Last year the elder daughter opted to have a viewing party for her birthday party so she could show her friends the Leonid shower.

I've tried to watch lunar eclipses before, but some big shadowy ball always obscured my view of the moon.

Bummer.

Lunar eclipses are cool. I try to catch every one that I can. I've observed them ever since I was a kid.

Sweetwitch is having a party --- Moon Watching :)

Presuming the rain lets up I will be watching with SO and my kids too...luck of the draw they are with me.
