I had a boner for her the very first time I watched her show and my ex said "notice how they keep shooting her from weird angles so that the counter top will always conceal how huge her ass is?" I was always watching the show and craning my neck as if that would help see around the edge of the counter.

"But she's so FAT!" Look at that piglet ass!"

"Watch closely and learn real femininity, my dear...."

Sounds like someone was a tad bit jealous.

I saw a girl that looked just like you on the train today beejay lips. She was scoping me but I got her with my peripheral visions. (wraparound shades at all times. )

maybe it was me........or one of my sisters

Good guess. I bet you get the gold star.

What memories this brought back. I haven't thought of the "scumster" since I first encountered her writing in my teen-hippie years. At that time her silly phamplet was everwhere and lauded by womyn and men everywhere. I can't describe those times in a way that is believable to people who didn't live through them: that cleverly written albeit obvious piece of hate-speak was taken ever so seriously by the young and the hip everywhere in the US. It certainly added several pounds to the heavy burden of confusion and alienation that a submissive female coming of age at height of the first wave had to bear. :/

But now that those crazy fires have died down and time has lent some historical perspective, I think dear ol' Val is much better know for what she destroyed than for what she created.

re valerie

as town rabbi, i thought i'd post the answer to further education of the citizens; charley's been posting actively elsewhere, and not responded here, in several days.

Valerie's SCUM manifesto is at

http://reactor-core.org/scum.html

Even assuming mechanical proficiency, which few men have, he [man] is, first of all, incapable of zestfully, lustfully, tearing off a piece, but instead is eaten up with guilt, shame, fear and insecurity,

there's sincerity and hatred there, no longer seen in PC male 'guiltspeak' or in the respectful 'how-to-ism' of postings of some in the 'bdsm community'.

"SCUM's still in the gutter of our `society', which, if it's not deflected from its present course and if the Bomb doesn't drop on it, will hump itself to death."

But she sure could turn a phrase. I enjoy the hell out of that little screed, it's really disappointing she had to be so damn literal and boring about it.

How she concluded that Andy Warhol was all that was wrong with masculinity is beyond me, but I theorize that she had to shoot the only man as genderless and asexual as she was.

follow up on VS

a solanis bio is at

http://www.answers.com/topic/valerie-solanas

it sheds more light on the Warhol thing. it seems she believed he stole and/or lost a play/ms she had given him, and she wanted to be paid for it. not that that should earn him a death sentence, but...

what she's to be credited for, regardless of her shaky mental status is recognizing and expressing a truth that got buried almost as soon as revealed, back and forth anger/hatred between the sexes**. and she clearly thought--in exception to some squeaky clean official spokepersons of 'bdsm' --that that anger manifested in one's sexual leanings and practices. i believe it's pretty clear that she thought reducing men to drones was the agenda dictated by those antipathetic feelings, though it's a rare domme who will admit to a smidgeon of such motivation.

===
'sex wars' have been talked of for years, of course, back to 'Taming of the Shrew' and in earlier centuries. what I refer to, as 'burying' can be seen in the pages of MS magazine, for instance, in the 70s: the calm, rational, egalitarian, 'man-loving' feminist folks pushed aside the alleged loonies and 'man haters'.

Ok, more light shed, somewhat, the failure of "Up Your Ass" to be produced no doubt one of the great tragedies of the world.

Who are these squeaky clean official spokespeople? I mean, since they are official, go on and name names.

As far as Dommes refusing to admit to being motivated by these kinds of sentiments (transformation of men into drones, retaliatory fantasy and motives, the inferiority of the male because of his ability to be manipulated sexually etc.) I suggest you simply spend some time perusing the wide offerings of FemDom based media in the world. Maybe in a mixed forum everyone is always insisting their motives are healthy and squeaky clean, but certainly not in one where FemDom/msub is the norm. You have your nurturing Dommes and you have your strident sadists, just as you do among other genders, I just think that some women are more prone to be strident sadists when they aren't vastly outnumbered, maybe that explains this.

As for me, I can't say that I'm not a creature of dualities. On one level, I do believe that I can provide the base creature a chance to psychically atone for his life of dick privilege, on the other hand I'm a socialized and fair minded cat who doesn't think that my shit doesn't stink, and who doesn't believe in harming the vulnerable. I don't think I need one unified theory to cover all my bases as a Top, and I'm comfortable with my desire to nurture, protect, and utterly trample the heart and mind of a given subject.

After all, where's the fun if everyone fits neatly into a nice little box?

Well, maybe not everyone needs to, but I think it's fun when certain people do fit into nice little boxes.

I think most people fit mostly into one sort of box or another and that's fun to play with --- have I guessed correctly? Will I be successful in getting what I want by betting on my intuition and knowledge about what kind of box someone fits etc.

That's all lots of fun, but I find that I'm most challenged by and therefore most intrigued by people who are less able to be pinned down. Those are the people I'm most likely to form real friendships or intimate ties with.

Dude I was being way more literal. I'm thinking kennels, cages, duffel bags.

I can't remember the actress from I Shot Andy Warhol (which is where i got most of my VS knowledge from); but she was great. That movie made me feel I would have hit it off smashingly with Solanas. I've always had the same feeling about Mary Daley, another of my betes noir.

Gah, obviously I need to tune up my funny bone. I've gotten entirely too earnest and contemplative. I'm going to have to binge on bad barbarian movies or something equally cheesy to restore my sense of balance.

Maybe you could name 3-4 who've shown up in these parts in the last couple years....

I met Mary Daly at a book signing a few years ago. She has a lot to say. She is mad as a cut snake.

The worm doesn't forgive anything! I doubt if it even knows wtf is going on. It just dies. Blake is a cukoo-dum-dum.
