Titans: The Revised Adventures RP

Raven gave a smile as he opened the door, stepping into his room. "You kind of scared me back there. I know that everything's been taking a toll... and that you've had a hard time."

She tapped the side of her head before he could ask. "I try to stay out of other people's minds, but strong emotions give off the memories too. I... kind of caught a few things earlier... I wasn't trying to pry. It just sort of happens." She stared at him a moment, trying to get the right thing to say. Talking- well, comforting, even- was a hard thing for her to do.

*Change the subject. He's smiling. Don't break that.*

"I still owe you your present, don't I?," she asked, glancing at him with a smirk.

Gar

Gar opened the door the rest of the way, and stepped back to let Raven enter his room. He nodded as she talked, his eyes widening as the implications of what she said sunk in.

Oh yeah, she reads minds so she probably knows you were just thinking.... The image of her sitting on the couch in her bunny costume reappeared in his mind. It was joined by the memory of him jumping the back of the couch to land beside her, and her turning to face him wearing the sexy, high heels and bunny ears and nothing else.

Crap!

"A present? Um...no...I don't think...er...um...oh god..." He covered his face in his hands and looked up at the ceiling while trying his best to think of something more appropriate.

Raven tried to fight back the smile as he changed colors on her, avoiding looking at her. "Gar... Hey- Gar.."

He was stammering now. The only thing she could think of to stop it was to grab hold if his shoulders, pull his hands down from his face and give him a deep kiss. He was so warm... and with the way he stiffened, quite surprised.

Pulling back from him, she gave another smile. "Yeah, I did catch that. You just changed emotions so fast, there's no way I couldn't notice it. But... I don't mind it."

She smirked. "Glad someone liked that bunny suit. I felt kind of weird in it." Th smirk slowly became a frown. "I'm not going to be able to return that thing, either. Dragonbreath made a pretty big rip in it..."

Gar

He was breathing easier.

His mind was calming and becoming less confused.

Gar let everything just slip away to nothingness when Raven kissed him.

Even though he had placed a quick one on her earlier, this one seemed to actually be their first kiss. Like the first kiss you'd see on a tv show or in a movie, where the soundtrack would get all violins and romantic piano for a while, and everything just slows way down.

He kissed her back, and had just opened his lips when Raven broke it off.
....she gave another smile.

Gar smiled as well. "That's too bad. But, I bet we could fix it." He sort of lightly rolled his eyes and stepped in to Raven. Gar slid an arm up to her hip and set his hand at the small of her back. "If you were going to be wearing it again, that is."

He gave her a little bit different sort of smile, and leaned in to kiss near her ear. "Would you wear it again?" he asked, bringing his other hand up to Raven's face and turning her head to kiss her once more.

In the morning, everything looked better except his vomit stained Halloween costume. Grant took one look at it, hanging in the shower where he'd tried to rinse enough off to make it returnable, and shook his head. Not happening.

An hour later, after his own shower, Grant was outside the small apartment building, laying the costume to rest in a plastic green trash bin. "So long, Kid Hercules." "We hardly knew ye."

Man, that still bothered him. He couldn't fault anyone for it, I mean, he'd gone out of his way to avoid scrutiny but his ego was still bruised somehow. Maybe if the Titans let him join, he could be a little more public. He didn't want to be famous or anything but...if he did good, it'd be nice if someone recognized it.

But, he really didn't want to go to see the Titans right now. He wanted to see Donna. He still hated the way things had ended, how she'd rushed away from him, although that kiss...

Then there was her at the Titans HQ, hitting that zombie guy, flying away with him. He was sure it was her. Positive. Well, it was possible it was someone else but...he could see her face and her figure when he closed his eyes, and in his heart there was no doubt of who it had been.

If it was her, and she had powers...he could tell her. He'd thought about it as lay in bed last night, after spending a half hour searching for whatever it was that made the apartment smell like Brut. He wanted to be more than just friends. The date had crystallized that for him. Grant couldn't imagine a more wonderful girl. He'd fallen for her. Hard. But, with his powers, and everything he didn't know, the people after him...it wouldn't be fair to her to get in a relationship with all that. She'd be in danger, and he might have to lie to her. He hated the thought of that. But if she had powers...he could tell her. Tell her his feelings, and the truth about everything.

In fact, that's what he wanted to do. If he knew where to find her. Or had her phone number. Or had a phone. None of which he did. So, he'd just have to head to the places he'd seen her, in the hope of crossing her path. First stop, the tower.

He had pulled a green button down shirt and a bomber jacket from one of the closets. Both were a little tight across the shoulders, but they fit okay. Other than that, he was wearing his "Damage" jeans and boots. Under the shirt, was the rest of his costume, bracers and the shirt with the stylized radiation symbol.

Grant took a moment to breathe in the crisp air of the fall morning, then set off down the street. He'd find Donna, and tell her, and...well...the rest was up to her.

Roy.

"Your pretty robe came from somewhere. It seems like you did move on Roy, I guess we both should. Goodbye."

Roy watched her walk away then sprint. More than half said run after her, apologise, gget on your knees and beg. Pride didn't keep him standing there watching her run, somewhere in his head what kept him standing, watching her go was just how right he felt she was. How true her comments were. How could he claim to have any hold on her after what he just did?

"Fuck." Roy kicked a can skyward and shot it before it dropped the arrow carrying it off into the sky. He walked away before it dropped, holding his side in pain. It'd be hard to get all 100 pounds on his bow for the next little bit.

Roy kept walking, he had a bunch of miles to go, and he should get there, sunday or not that paperwork wouldn't do itself, and roy damn well needed to get it all done. Sluggishly he turned down to start walking. Wondering when that black and white would pick him up. It was fitting he felt like a criminal.

Terra was floating along minding her own business when a can with an arrow in it konked her on the head upon its descent. Snagging it in mid-flight she glared noting some guy below hobbling along if it were.

Swooping down she stopped in front of him on her slab of rock sitting Indian style. "Is this your idea of littering? Beat up a poor defenseless girl..." she commented tossing the can at him before jumping off her slab and landing with a soft thud. "Most people just toss their trash in the bin or over there shoulder not in the air and definately not for target practice. You could poke someon's eye out with that." She commented but then calmed down noticing his miserabl state.

"You okay?" she asked. He was cute though he didn't seem to be having one of those better days. Still she wasn't here to be his therapist either and really didn't care to hear about his problems. Maybe she could flirt with him to lift his spirits then take him for his money and be on her way... its the least she could do and besides the money spent would be time paid. At least that's what she thought.

Conner groaned aloud after Wonder Girl had left the room. It never seemed to end with this girl. She had simply handed him the jacket and then taken off after meta-cop. She had been in a hurry too, they obviously had some serious history.

"And that sorta history usually comes in one very complicated variety" He chuckled.

Holding his hands up in acceptance, Conner pulled his the jacket over his shoulders and moved towards the open window. Jumping free of the Tower, Superboy felt a sudden rush as he hit sky. The wind was cold and wonderful as he pointed his fist in the air and shot off.

Superboy spiralled over the streets, throwing waves and blowing kisses to the people down below. He felt like showboating a little, after the events last night. It felt great to tangle with strong opponents like that, and even with the Kryptonite, Conner had come out on top.

"Even if the hottie Wonder Girl is into some dorky meta-cop" He rolled his eyes, crisscrossing his fingers behind his head to form a cushion as his flight slowed to a lazy glide.

His eyes snapped back open in realization. The metacop! If anyone knew how a person could get their hands on Kryptonite in this town...

Righting himself in the air, Superboy's blue eyes widened as he began to scan the city with his telescopic vision. It was like finding a needle in a city-sized haystack.

Roy.

Cute. First thing he saw. Wierd outfit, like she didn't change from halloween, and flying a rock. No really she had been flying on a rock. She had his arrow still in the can. She hopped off with a pleasant thud.

"Um sorry I uh. I just wasn't thinking that anyone would be flying a chunk of concrete." Roy paused after that. "You know a day ago I'd have questioned what and why and how, But right now I'm just going to accept that you are flying a piece of concrete."

Kuuroinochou said:
"You okay?"

Roy's throat got a little dry. He wondered just if he was for a second. "Uh. yeah." She had left him right. Told him he'd moved on, why not, what was he losing right now? She already thought he slept with Di, and he probably did. He was flirting pretty heavy that day and she was really into it, and she took him to her room, They probably did. He had already fucked up. Somehow knowing where he stood made him feel a little better.

"You know I think I'm ok right about now. Kinda stranded a zombie broke my bike last night, So I need to hitch up a ride likely to the precinct on 34th. But if you think you got time I could buy you breakfast first. Sorta make it up for your lost time? What do you say? Breakfast then take me to work?"

She shrugged not giving it much thought. "Its natural, I control terraforma...or lack there of. Names Terra by the way. Quite conveniant if you ask me but yeah. I don't know the whole geist behind it either I just accept it and move on."

"You know breakfast sounds great. I'm a little low on cash anyway..." she said a slightly miffed expression floating across her face. Leaping back upon her slab of concrete she winked holding out a hand to him. "Hop on we can find some grub faster this way."

"Terra? I'm Arsenal. I don't suggest you shorten it, so since I'm abpout the public face, I'm Roy. Good to meet you." Roy gave a wry grin. "Accept and Move on, I like the sound of that. I should try it."

Roy took the proffered hand and tried not to wince as he jumped onto the slab. He did a pretty good job too. Standing up he put an arrow into the concrete on the other side and lashed his qiuver upright to it.

"Yeah sure. Sorry to hear about the cash situation, money is always tight it seems. No worries, I got most of your meals for you and if you need a place to stay I might have one of those too. So you live here in this town and you know somewhere you want to go? Or it doesn't really matter. There's a really good place up on 53rd and Lark." Roy took a quick look at Terra in her Tank and Short Shorts. "And they won't mind either of our general lack of dress."

Roy gave a bigger grin. "Most places aren't going to serve me in just bandages on my chest. No shirt no service kinda deal."

Terra smirked buckling down and heading in the direction he'd just mentioned. "I don't mind too much where we go... we'll hit up that place then." she commented weaving through the city at surprising speeds. "Flying on a rock is the only way to go if you ask me. And as for that place to stay I have one, assuming my 'rents don't revolk that either." she grumbled barrel rolling through the city. The inertia kept them both planted solid to the slab of rock but it didn't do anything to ease one's nueasia.

Soon she slowed them down setting the rock at the corner of an alley so others wouldn't see her slipping off she helped him and the rock crumbled to bits before she stepped out the alley. "So where's this thing at, it should be around here." she said with a wink.

Roy.

Roy put a hand down on his quiver to keep everything from falling as she took them on a ride. He was impressed and agreed somewhat with her. However he was trying hard not to dry heave, and he was grateful for her hand at the end. Roy grabbed the quiver and pointed off.

"Well it's 51st here, so two blocks that way. The sign that's waving back and forth, with the flags all down it. International breakfast. that's where we're going. They make pretty much everything. Sort of a cop place but it'll be dead this time. It's like 10:30, lunch won't start forever, and breakfast is long done."

Roy began to break down and de string his bow, and went to walk, offering his hand to the girl. "C'mon I could really use a coffee today."

Raven smiled as he rested another kiss on her cheek, liking the way his hand rested on her back. "So you want me to keep it, hmm?" She shrugged. "I suppose I could wear it a few times for you. Just, ahhh... not in front of the others." Shifting her jeans up a bit, she gave him a curious glance. "You getting hungry? I was thinking of heading out for a quick breakfast. Figured getting out of this place might do some good." She paused, thinking about that a moment. "Unless... you'd rather talk to Vic first, and I'd understand that..."

Donna

So that was it, a chapter in her life that was now over. Something inside Donna died a little to leave Roy behind, something of the warmth and cheer she had cooled and went just a bit dark. She walked, then jogged, then ran finally breaking the bonds of earth and flying up above the city in an attempt to leave things behind her. She'd come here to finish school and learn more about who she was, the only things she was finding out were just how hard this life could be.

She wanted to scream, wanted to smash into something and just keep hitting it until her mind cleared of everything but the action. She wanted anything that would cut this feeling out of her. Higher and higher she flew, the city becoming a speck beneath her, air growing thin and cold. After enough distance to feel separate from the world she threw back her head and cried out, a long anguished scream to the heavens, exhausting her lungs of air. Not as good as fighting but it helped somewhat, she curled into a fetal ball, hugging herself as she wondered if this was the rest of her life.

She'd lost Roy, would she do the same to Grant? Would she drive him off with her dual life? Was there even a way to tell someone you were...well..a mythical woman. She couldn't go on deceiving him that much was certain..so either she had to stop things before they started or tell him everything. He would surely turn away if he knew the truth...even if he didn't any time with her was bound to be problematic at best.

Maybe the easiest thing she could do for both of them was to just isolate herself. It had worked before, up until she'd met Roy. The red head hadn't been content to let her sit alone at lunch or walk alone on the way home. Slowly and with effort most never would have been willing to give, he'd broken her down. Finally she'd agreed to go out with him and they'd been inseparable after that. In the end though she'd lost him...duty had been her first priority and it had cost her even the friendship they'd had.

Now, pained as she was to think it, she might be doing the same to Grant, and he was far too good and too sweet to ever do that too. He'd been nothing but gracious and kind and wonderful to her and she was not able to be the same, not completely. He deserved better, he really did. Decision made, Donna unfurled her body and drifted like a fallen leaf back to the ground. Her feet touched down in an isolated parking lot , short walk later she took the photos she'd stashed earlier and headed back for her apartment.

End things clean, best way to do it.

Grant was actually taking his time walking to the tower, trying to figure out what he would say. "So, I've been thinking of being a super hero...no." "Ever dated a guy who can lift a tank?" "Man, that even annoys me." "So, I was fighting a zombie last night when I saw you...no, not even close." Damn, it was such a good idea, but how the hell would he ever get the conversation started? "Maybe something like, "I'm not an ordinary guy, I've got a secret"...at which point she'll think I'm about to come out of the closet." He sighed. Man, why was it so hard to talk about this kind of stuff? He just wanted to say what he felt.

He caught a familar figure out of the corner of his eye. Was that? He turned in time to catch a glimpse of a heavenly face framed with long black hair, dressed in a long coat turn a corner. Donna! He'd just randomly happened across her on his way? Maybe there was such a thing as fate after all. It was a good omen, he was sure of it!

But, she looked sad...

"Donna!" He ran across the street, leaping over a car that should have hit him. "Donna?" He made the corner, she hadn't heard him. The way she was walking, it was like she was in her own world. He balked a moment, something had happened. Something bad. Should he...?

No. If something was wrong, she didn't know anyone else in the city. He'd listen if she needed to talk, and whatever he had to say could wait. She crossed the street and went into an apartment building. Grant took a moment to wait for a break in traffic, then crossed as well. As he got inside, he could see an elevator door closing. "Hold the-damn it!" Too late.

He watched the numbers blink until it came to a stop. Okay, he had the floor. He'd wait for the elevator, but with his speed, the stairs would be faster. He almost tore the door of it's hinges as he burst into the stairwell, rocketing up the steps, leaping whole flights at a time.

When he arrived on the floor, he slowed down a moment. Entering he looked up and down the hallway. Which one was it? They weren't labelled or anything. Well, only one thing to do. He knocked of the nearest door, bouncing up and down in anticipation. The door swung open, "Donna, I-" The person at the door was not Donna. She was a foot too short, and about 50 years too old. "uh, sorry, ma'am, wrong apartment." "I'm trying to find a friend of mine." "Donna Troy, do you know which door is hers?"

The lady looked at him, "And who are you, young man?" "Her boyfriend?" The old woman made no pretense in looking him over, "She's a lucky girl, just look at you!" "If I was 30 years younger, I'd invite you in for a little fun." She cackled as Grant turned bright red. He SO did not need to hear that. That happened all the time. People were always saying things he could never unhear. "Well, boy, the new girl three doors down must be the one you're looking for." "I know everyone else on the floor."

"Uh, thank you, ma'am." "Sorry to bother you."

As he started down the hall, she called out, "If it doesn't work out, you know where to find me!" There was that cackle again, and her door closed.

Grant shook his head, the world was really crazy. He was sure that God must just plot some events for pure comic relief...or to mess with his head. Three doors. Okay. This was it. Deep breath. He raised his hand, knocking twice on the soft wood. "Donna?" "It's Grant, can I talk to you?"

She'd wandered home more or less oblivious to the crowds and traffic, plodding through her building and heading up the elevator in a daze. In her arms she held a manilla envelope, she held it with precise care so unfitting the rest of her lost demeanor. That daze continued all the way to her apartment, coat draped over a chair, envelope dropped to the coffee table and her form dropping into the love seat by the window. She'd only just gotten settled when a knock pulled her attention back to the present.

Her head turned for the door even as she heard that voice, familiar and in her state almost painful to hear. She rose from the love seat and stepped to the door. looking through to confirm that it was indeed Grant, and it was.

"Just a minute."

Donna ran into her bedroom, pulling on jeans and a sweat shirt of her costume, it was enough to at least pass as a normal outfit, though the glint of silver at her wrists showed under the sleeves of the shirt. The deadbolt slid back with a metallic scrape and she opened the door. Eye brows arched in curiosity as to how he knew where she lived, to her knowledge she'd never told him.

"Sure, come on in. I think we need to talk."

She stepped back and held the door, letting him into the small but cozy apartment. Not much for frills but classic decorations. The couch and love seat matched in pale cream, offset by the rich dark maple table and entertainment center. It was clean and clutter free, more then could be said for her mind.

"Have a seat."

Grant felt his heart swell and ache as she opened the door. God, she was beautiful. But he could tell that he'd guessed right before, something bad had happened. It was in was in those fathomless blue depths she called her eyes, a deep sorrow and lingering pain. "I, uh, I'm sorry to come to your home like this." "I saw you on the street, and I called your name, but I guess you didn't hear." "So, I, uh, followed you in." "Hope you don't mind, I know it's a little intrusive."

He stepped in at her invitation, looking around the living room. It was tastefully decorated, classy and simple, but elegant. A lot like Donna, really. "Thanks." "This place is great, did you set it up?" "It looks really good."

Now that he was here, he wasn't sure if he could get any of the words out. Not with her looking at him like that. He sat down on the edge of the loveseat, his hands in his jacket pockets, then he pulled them out, wondering if the brown leather of his bracers was visible or not.

He could worry about that later. "Uh, I know that we just met and all, but, ummm, after last night...well, I had a really great time with you." He blushed a little, and smiled at the memory, "even with how it ended, it was the best date I ever had." "And, uh, well, you're...you're just the most amazing girl I've ever met, Donna." "You're smart, and funny, and really sweet, and beautiful, and...I...I wanted to talk to you today, and see, if, you might want to, uh, go out on a more...consistant basis?"

He shook his head, "Okay, I'm sorry that wasn't the way I wanted to say it at all." "I mean, I know there's a lot I want to tell you first, but...I like you Donna." "A lot, I mean, I've...I've really fallen for you."

“I know,” Vic said after a moment. “I’m not really even human anymore...”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Yes,” Robin said to Vulcan. “We are looking for a few new recruits. Interested?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“Not bad...” Slade said quietly. “But this time, I’m going too. From what I’ve heard about Raven, she must be the daughter of the Dark Lord Trigon. Pressure her enough, and she’ll release her inner demons... and I’ll be right there to seize control of them...”

“This sucks, man,” complained Killowat as he, Bane, and Firebolt sat down for breakfast in the cafeteria of Arcana Asylum with their trays. They were all wearing light blue attire. Firebolt and Killowat had merely a few bandaged bruises, but Bane had much of his body covered. Although, Killowat still shuddered every time he though about how Reikka had nearly robbed him of his sanity.

“I know, but that’s what we get for losing. Better in here than back at Hive. I’d assume Slade was furious when he found out we failed so miserably.” explained Firebolt, but Bane shook his head.

“Headmaster Slade wouldn’t kill me. Him and my old man have history.” said Bane.

“Well, at least I got one of them. That dude I blew up looked pretty bad.” said Killowat. Firebolt looked up.

“You know, now that I think about it, that was Vic Stone, star of the high school football team here,” explained Firebolt. “I heard he was kidnapped from his hospital room or something...”

Gar smiled. "Keeping the costume just between us works for me," he said. "And breakfast sounds good too. I'm pretty new in town still, so you pick the place and I'll follow you there."

He swallowed and gave a little sigh. "I think there are plenty of other people Vic can talk to besides me. It's been forever since we'd even seen each other before yesterday." God, was it only yesterday?

"Yeah, I. uh I decorated I guess. Just some things from home and some new furniture."

He was sitting but gave the impression of someone pacing, his hands fidgeted into his pockets and out again. He started to talk about their date and Donna sat lightly on the other side of the love seat, hands folded over her knees. His complements were coming fast and furious and made her ache just a little inside. This was going to hurt them both, she could see it already. He was asking her to be more involved and she tried to speak up there but he kept running headlong with it and finally said something very near a confession of the deepest of feelings. Donna's head fell forward, she hadn't wanted this to happen like this, but as was becoming apparent, maybe this life didn't give you the option.

"Grant, I had a wonderful time too, I really did. And you are a wonderful guy, you deserve so much more then I can give you so much better."

Oh Gods this was hard, her voice caught in her throat, and the pain of seeing Roy in the other girls bed room, the pain of waiting for him the previous year in the park when he never came. All of it rushed back at once as reasoning for her to continue with what she had to say.

"Grant, I don't think it would be right or fair for me to get involved. I don't ever want to hurt you or lie to you. But, my life is complicated in ways I can't even tell you."

Terra smiled as she took his hand looking at all the shops along the way. The walk didn't take long at all as they entered the dinner. They were seated fairly quick being so early in the morning on a Sunday. Looking over the menu the waitress stood idly by. "Would you like something to drink to start off with."

Terra smiled, "I'll have some coffee with whip cream on the top." she beamed as the waitress jotted this down she smiled to Roy. "And you?

Roy.

Roy thought about the question, What did he want? he wasn't sure, far mroe important issues than breakfast on his mind. Still there was a very pretty girl in front of him, and he wasn't about to disappoint by being indescisive.

"Hmm, yeah I'll have a coffee, without the whipped cream, We'll look at the menu before we order. Or I will anyway. you see anything you want right now Terra?"

Roy gave her a careful smirk and a wink, "So Terra is a cool name, very fitting, what brought you here to Vector? Scenery, Other kids, maybe just Bored, Looking for some fun?"

Roy smiled again and put his hand down on hers, Charming wasn't quite so hard when he tried, and even Ollie had told him, plenty of fish. He wondered what it said about the old man since he was so very in love with Dinah? Likely he'd call what Roy had puppy love. Roy grinned deeper and focused up. Maybe this girl was just what he needed.

Ashton finally woke up, then slowly got up into a sitting position. He shook his head, looking around, and sighed. Events slowly came back to him, the fights, the damage. Those two annoying ones that tried to mess with his mind and electrocute him. He shook his head again, then slowly stood up, stretching. His whole body ached, partially from the fight, and partly falling asleep in his costume. He groaned as he felt a stiff muscle cramp, and sighed, rotating his shoulder as he walked towards the elevator. He wondered why they'd left him out cold on the floor, but knew they probably had their own injuries to nurse. As he stepped into the elevator, his leg muscles spasmed, and he fell down, swearing.

"I'll wait to order, just bring the drinks." Terra said as the waitress nodded to get their drinks. She turned to Roy then with a soft smile upon her lips. She mulled over in her mind his questions trying to come up with something believable then it hit her. She DID come here for that. "Actually all of the above, except for kids.. I don't do kids." she frowned up her nose at that laughing a bit.

"I'm mostly here to be on my own. I want to have all kinds of fun but so far its being snoozeville. There's nothing to do around here."
