The Legend of Tir-Na-Nog

Condensed version:

Tir-Na-nOg is a very beautiful land. In Tir-Na-nOg the leaves don't fall from the trees or die. The flowers bloom all year round, and you can smell the scent of them miles away. If you are ever lucky enough to go to Tir-Na-nOg you would see young, happy people there.

If you spent five days in Tir-Na-nOg, it would be about three or more years in Ireland. Tir-Na-nOg has a stream going through it and green hills all over. The people there have beautiful clothes, and you would eat off of gold plates and drink out of crystal glasses.

For entertainment the people would play tin whistles or play gold harps. The scenery is beautiful and the sun shines most of the time. The people tell wonderful exciting stories, and the children play lots of games.

Tir-Na-nOg means "THE LAND OF EVER YOUNG."

Tir na Nog is a well known home of the Fae...

you..

Loving tongue Im from Ireland.. here in the states now...
I was raised on the faries. And i can tell you there were
things that happened that could not be explained any
other way but... twas the faires did it..
honest..
there was Madge who lived next door to us.. she was a known
witch.. and this one afternoon my granny was sitting smoking
her pipe and a bumblebee landed on her hand.. a different kind
of Bee one Granny had never seen before.. Granny like the fox she was put the match box over it and closed it up.
now in these parts there was some cows missing..
and one of them, was one of ours
Madges family out looking for her that night when she didnt
come home for supper..
and she was still gone the next day at noon..
garanny said to the box and the bee in it..
send home our cow and you will be let out..
sure enough the cow wandered in about milking time..
and Granny left the bee out...
Madge was home for supper that night
thats the truth of it..

Hello, MindFire! I subscribe to the point of view that there's more to this world than science or religion can explain. Fae folk are certainly one such phenomenom. :)

I'm still finding out as of yet what they mean to me...

Who are the Fae?

http://www.odyssy.net/users/erica/pics/ashtaroth.gif

They might also be known as Tuatha de Danaan.. The Tuatha de Danaan, or "the people of Danu", are the descendants of the ancestor goddess Danu, or Dana. Dana, I think, might also be known as Diane, as she is a moon goddess.

The fae came to Ireland and struggled with the Formians who already lived there, before finally settling the land. Then, the Milesians - now known as the Celts - defeated them, and they went underground, leaving faery mounds behind. (I believe that's why they're known as "Sidhe", or "people of the mounds".)

:)

sprites , pixies, little peoples, and also Leprachans, and Fairyes.
that is my offering... please enlighten me if i am right..

Dhalgren.

Faiery mounds are usually of holly and can be seen with the naked eye, there is usually an entrance and they live
very happily with bees..

Among the Celts they say that those born with a dark ring on the iris of the eyes are fey (or fae). That they have the sight. I'm one of such. Nothing I can control...just that some times I simply know things that I'd not know any other way.
