Yes friends it is Opening Day once again. It is quite possibly my favorite day of the year. Dreams begin and end, hope springs eternal and it is the one day that everyo0ne is on a level playing field.

Tonights game, the Mets vs. the Cards in a rematch of last seasons NL Championship game.

Here we go!!! :D :nana:

You going to any A's games? I'm thinking of getting a ticket for the Yankees game next weekend (13-15 series).

I sure hope so. I've been to one game my whole life and I was 7. I didn't get it back then because I had just moved from England, and only just got introduced to the game. Plus my team lost.

I got to stand at home plate at Wrigley Field before a game and be intorduced to the crowd. Of course since I'm a Cardinals fan, it didn't have quite the allure it might have. And incidently the Cub Cadet lawn tractor got a much bigger round of applause. :D

Why were you introduced to the crowd? Sounds pretty darn awesome no matter what team you're a fan of.

BTW: Mets lead 2 - 0.

I was the captain of the first state championship junior College Bowl team (around 15 years ago).

Damn, and I thought I was smart.
You are. We smart people recognize each other, even without the secret handshakes. :D

We have a handshake?

I thought we were still using the wink and nod of the head.

I must have missed the memo. :D

The handshake's for formal occasions. The wink's fine for everyday.

Holy moly that was an awesome Double Play! :D I love this game!

Game Over!

Mets Win 6 - 1 over the Cards. Glavine gets the Win, Carpenter gets the Loss, and day number one of the new baseball season is officially in the books.

Looks like the Mets are going to be tough again. Still, can't wait for tomorrow when just about everyone else gets going and wall-to-wall games between ESPN, ESPN2 and local broadcasts of Cubs and White Sox here in Chicago! :nana: :nana: :nana:

Tomorrow is going to be a blast!

So who are you guys rooting for this year? Obviously I'm backing the A's. :D

If you must, go ahead. As a Yankee fan living outside of New York I've taken a lot of crap for a lot of years. I just wrap myself in those 26 World Series titles to insulate myself ;)

Ha ha, it's all good. At least you're not a Dodger fan. ;) Yeah I'm a Giants fan too, but the A's come first. Here's hoping for another Battle by the Bay! :D

I took a lot of crap for it too, and I was actually born in New York. Of course, my parent's moved while I was less than a year old...

When I lived in Maryland everyone thought I should be an Orioles fan. Then I went to school in Boston, and that isn't exactly a great place to be a Yankees fan. Now in California, I work with a couple of people who grew up in Boston, and they think it is criminal that I didn't adopt the Sox while I lived there.
