Tie rope to hair: how to?

my hair hits my waist and it won't work.

splicing kinda works.

what I do is:

divide hair into three. a long ribbon is tied around upper part of one portion but with equal tails.

the long tails go to the portions that don't have the ribbon tied around it. you then start plaiting. Nice and firm does it. it's cool if you wrap the ribbon around the hair as well.

When you get to the end of the hair secure it firmly with a hair elastic. NOT an elastic band. it fucks the hair ends up. then attach the ribbons to the hook end.

Done this way you can really really pull the head back by the hair without the pain of the hair being pulled from the scalp. That is fine if you like that, but i don't. it distracts me from the more interesting, other stuff happening.

This is pretty much what I did. Plaything's hair is about half the length of yours, and very fine - but plenty of it. I had a length of silky cord which I tied to the central bunch with three round turns and a reef knot in the middle of the cord. I then threw a clove hitch round each outer bunch of hair and drew each in tight to the original knot. Then, with a tail of cord in each outer bunch, I plaited down almost as far as the hair allowed and then did several turns around the tail of the hair and again made fast with a reef knot. OK, not the best knot, I know, but it was quick and simple and in fact it worked.

What is a reef knot? I haven't heard of that one before, so I'm wondering if it's a new one or if I know it by a different name.

Regardless, sounds like a lot of knotting just to run a rope through hair...but then, the only hair I work with my horses' and my own, and I have bushy hair that could probably entrap small mammals without trying :p I'd have thought you could just do a fisherman's knot.
