1. My work was unable to get any work to me today, so no actual labor took place. I didn't get paid for it, but that's not the point.

2. A friend of mine and I got to talk some about his upcoming posting to Brazil. I want to visit down there when he gets settled. . . someday.

3. I got to watch one of my favorite shows while I was waiting for no work to come, and I got a lot of laughs out of it.

I found out the Dept of Education says 35% of Americans can’t read past the 5th grade level. That’s at least twice as many as I’d have guessed.

It's amazing how much functional illiteracy is out there, and not just here in the U.S. When I was a kid, mid-to-late 80's timeframe, I remember reading in an encyclopedia I had that an estimated one in five Canadians were considered to be that way. That number is now about one in six.
