This isn’t going to be a popular reply but isn’t that a bit selfish. What if one of your coworkers also needs a much needed break and now they are also having to cover for you because you decided not to go to work for no reason. What if the tables were turned? I know you have said in the past about how much pressure you have been under because of people being off work.

I’m off for a medical reason. I actually have a very serious infection in one side of my face and I’m being treated with strong antibiotics and unable to work on them, but I was just trying to say I was off in a fun way. All absences are investigated, so I could never really go off without a valid reason. Maybe the way I said it left things open to interpretation, but even though I’m off I’m still taking calls from colleagues and trying to support them and help with certain documents. I didn’t mean it in the way it appears it came across
