Thought I'd introduce myself with a discussion on tentacles.

Hello! My name is Cosmo, I've been a writer for roughly eight years now. This is my first time attempting to publish an erotic writing on this website. And today, I would love a chance to talk about tentacles with you all.

In my opinion, they are criminally underutilized.

It seems to me just about every single erotic writing I've come across, be it sci-fi, fantasy, horror, or some blend of those three things, the only time you see tentacles in writing is if the writing itself is specifically about tentacles. And I wanna be clear, if that's your thing, more power to you, seriously. This is not meant to be a critique post at all. If you want to write short one-offs or stories about tentacles just because you like tentacles, that's awesome.

I just feel like there's a lot that can be done with tentacles as a plot device that hasn't fully been explored yet. When it comes to science fiction and fantasy elements, I've always been a massive lore nerd. And the one thing I always find myself asking whenever one of these crazy tentacled monstrosities appears in a writing is "but why is this thing here?"

Again, I promise that's not a dig at anyone at all. It's really just the manifestation of my own obsessive neuroticism when it comes to plot. I want to know the tentacle monster's motivations, dammit! What are they hoping to accomplish by viciously probing that young woman's orifices with their spongey turgid masses? Is it for breeding purposes? Okay, what are they breeding? And why? Where is this crazy yet intriguing bus going?

The problem I've had has never been with the how, just the why. So I'd like your opinion. Are tentacles underutilized? If so, why do you think that is? And what could be done to elevate the tentacle game in erotic fiction? Are tentacles at their strongest when taken out of the spotlight in a story? Or when they're the central theme? Thoughts, opinions, comments, all are welcome.

Well cephalopods are among the most intelligent animals in the world. Many can communicate through the patterns of color changing skin pigment they can create. In fact this trait lead Terrence McKenna to use the octopus as a symbol of humanity's future development, positing an eventual capacity to communicate semi-empathically through the spontaneous creation of shared hallucinatory visual objects.

I can't speak for others but in my tentacle monster story the tentacle monsters wanted to cross breed with human women to create a new species.

I wrote mine 5 years ago. I enjoyed the stories, thought they were bizarre but appealing in a super fetishy, disturbed way, and thought, "I'll try one."

There is another thread on tentacles that's circulated the last few months that you should read.

Things haven't been the same since that fucking tentacled freak slammed the West Gate of Moria shut.

Goddamn Watcher in the Water...
Great scene in both the book and the movie.
Gotta say, I thought the movie did a terrific job of visually capturing the book content. I was utterly skeptical when I went to see the movie but was impressed. The watcher was well done, and the balrog was awesome. Choosing New Zealand was a brilliant decision.

Yes. They are underutilized. The reason that is, is because it's on the furthest reaches of plausibility. You might screw the hot girl next door, but encountering a tentacled creature that understands human intercourse/reproduction is too far fetched. I'm not against it and have watched it in adult anime and enjoyed it. But as a non sci-fi writer its not something I'd try writing.

@robroy1968

That's a fair assessment, I suppose. Though I will say, I definitely fall on the fantasy/sci-fi side of the writing spectrum which I find gives a bit more leeway in terms of plausibility. But I get what you mean about encountering a tentacle monster that understands human intercourse/reproduction. Though, making such an occurrence plausible, I feel, is also a nice challenge.

Welcome! I am not even close to understanding the tentacle erotica though, so I am afraid I can't contribute to this discussion

For a different take on tentacles, maybe you'd like to give feedback on my latest story?

Just remember: it's not the size of your tentacle; it's whether your feeler makes her a squealer... 😉

It was just trying to protect them from the Balrog. Poor misunderstood creature :-(

I know its totally off your topic.

But in my Smoking Fetish themes, I talk of the "hooks" of nicotine snaring the users.

I think I can be creative.

"The tentacles of nicotine, reach out through the noxious smoke and tighten their grip on the user, ensuring that they now can't escape a life time of addiction."

Thanks.

I have a horrible feeling that I have painted myself into a corner where I have no choice but to write an alien / tentacle monster story. Crowdsourcing sucks.

Any videos I should watch or stories I should read? I am totally unfamiliar with the genre.

@EmilyMiller

There's one I've read I think might help you. Orgy of the Shoggoth is the name of it. Here on Literotica. If you're looking for physical inspiration, just about any hentai or doujin website has a tentacle tag.

Hentaied.com has several live-action videos featuring tentacles. Minimal story and the tone is non consent.

You can find the videos in all the usual places if you search for them. Use "hentaied" as your search term.

Thanks. I don’t much like noncon, but I guess it’s totally removed from reality.
