Hello! My name is Cosmo, I've been a writer for roughly eight years now. This is my first time attempting to publish an erotic writing on this website. And today, I would love a chance to talk about tentacles with you all.
In my opinion, they are criminally underutilized.
It seems to me just about every single erotic writing I've come across, be it sci-fi, fantasy, horror, or some blend of those three things, the only time you see tentacles in writing is if the writing itself is specifically about tentacles. And I wanna be clear, if that's your thing, more power to you, seriously. This is not meant to be a critique post at all. If you want to write short one-offs or stories about tentacles just because you like tentacles, that's awesome.
I just feel like there's a lot that can be done with tentacles as a plot device that hasn't fully been explored yet. When it comes to science fiction and fantasy elements, I've always been a massive lore nerd. And the one thing I always find myself asking whenever one of these crazy tentacled monstrosities appears in a writing is "but why is this thing here?"
Again, I promise that's not a dig at anyone at all. It's really just the manifestation of my own obsessive neuroticism when it comes to plot. I want to know the tentacle monster's motivations, dammit! What are they hoping to accomplish by viciously probing that young woman's orifices with their spongey turgid masses? Is it for breeding purposes? Okay, what are they breeding? And why? Where is this crazy yet intriguing bus going?
The problem I've had has never been with the how, just the why. So I'd like your opinion. Are tentacles underutilized? If so, why do you think that is? And what could be done to elevate the tentacle game in erotic fiction? Are tentacles at their strongest when taken out of the spotlight in a story? Or when they're the central theme? Thoughts, opinions, comments, all are welcome.
