"This!" moments for women in comics

WOW. I have never heard of a single one of these. Thank you!

You're welcome. I have more links if you're interested. I really dig web comics; they're so original ... not the Marvel/DC crap. ;)

Web comics have been portraying female superheroes in a so-called 'positive light' for many years; beautiful, powerful, aggressive, intelligent and human. ;)

Got to admit, it is difficult to imagine a female super-hero female doing wonderful things with Cup Cakes or a Christmas Roast.

Well, every superhero needs a Secret Identity. And someone has to do the cooking. Who's going to-- her husband? ;)

Why would a superheroic woman have a husband? I don't recall very many superheroic men having wives. Admittedly I'm a timorous sort of bear to whom the thought of getting snapped in half by orgasmic spasms is a real fear but it just doesn't seem to fit.

A butler works.

Only a handful.

Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) and Sue Storm Richards (invisible woman) of the Fantastic Four.

The Incredibles.

There's a wonderful bit in that film where he lifts the sofa whilst reading the paper, so she can wield the vacuum cleaner.

Only if he's in the footsteps of Escoffier, I fear.

Very grateful for the original post. I was a die-hard Marvel guy right up until Civil War & the stupid Peter/Mary Jane retcon (and I haven't forgiven them), so I wish there was more Marvel here... but I'm glad to see this.

Ah, if only I could scan in pages from my comics... Scarlet from GI Joe needs a spot in there.

You're thinking of gourmets.

Superheros save the day™, and hardly ever have time for fine dining. ;)

For more clarification, "Strangers in Paradise" was a long running comic series (ran from 1999 until 2007) by Terry Moore exploring the complex relationships between three people to put it simply. Beautifully written and drawn.

One of my favourite writers, Neil Gaiman, developed a side character in his classic Sandman series, Sandman's sister Death. She has had two spin off miniseries and appearances in various other Vertigo comics. Again wonderfully written and drawn.
