I'd be rooting for most of Europe to keep thinking the US sucks. I certainly wouldn't be rooting for Bill Clinton's (arguably the most popular US president outside the US of the past five) party to be back in power, with the ability to call on him for high-level diplomacy and actual coalition building. How much traction does this Kerry thing have with voters?
My guess: Not much, but that's only my perspective.
I don't believe all Democrats think of the military the same way Kerry does. McCain, for example, though some mistakenly believe he's a Republican. But it's clear some Democrats - Durbin among them - loath the military.
I will vote for Democrats next week, regardless of Kerry's comments.
Likewise, the Foley flap will have no bearing on how I vote. I'm inclined to believe there are more elitist Democrats in the House and Senate who share a distaste for the military than there are Republicans who share a taste for 16-year-old boys.
