This is what happens to us after we die.

Most of us are brought up to believe that when we die, we somehow continue to exist in a non-physical form, in another dimension. However, medical science has proven this to be utterly incorrect. Consciousness is governed entirely by the brain and nothing else. When we die, we are thrown into sort of a non-existence, or an infinite "void" where space and time do not exist. The best way to describe this "realm" is like a dreamless sleep. It's just an eternity of absolutely nothing.

You are nothing more than a biological machine. Everything you do, think, say, is because of chemical reactions inside your brain. Religion is a terrible falsehood which throughout human history, has caused more war, oppression, mass-death, destruction, and misery, than anything else. The world would instantly become a much better place if everyone just gave up their religion and accepted atheism as the grim and harsh reality of life.

Now, let's say you're in a dark empty hospital room dying of terminal cancer, and you have less than 24 hours to live, what kind of things would be going through your mind knowing that when you lose consciousness, that it was simply going to be the end of you? What if you didn't have any friends or family members to comfort you during your final moments? What thoughts would be going through your head?

This reality is a hard pill to swallow, but we have no other choice than to accept this fact.

And this is what we see 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (septillion) years to the infinite, after our death.

You only get to live once, and then it's game over!

Smell a flower, Mike.

Pet a puppy.

Enjoy the ride.

yeah, what he said.

however, how do you explain having dreams that come true? or having a dream of meeting someone who you have never met before, and days, years later, you meet them? or how some people "dreamshare" , they can recall a dream and details of it, and they both dreamt it. there's more to this world than just chemical firings of the brain.

Its called faith. That is why people believe there is an after life. That and so we have a heaven for the good, a hell for the bad, and ghost to scare little kids.

Religion is a terrible falsehood which throughout human history, has caused more war, oppression, mass-death, destruction, and misery, than anything else. ..

Science has proven this to be a complete falsehood.

The Japanese had it right. They called it "going into the void" or a more literal translation "purgatory of nothingness".

Actually, you wouldn't "see" anything. Think of it this way, before you were born, you simply "weren't". Nothing, nadda, zilch. You have no recollection of that state since there was no, as you put it, "biological machine," to support the memory. Or to put it another way, the dust from whence thou came, the dust thou shalt return.

We've been through this with Mike before. He's posted virtually the same post word for word before.

Its one thing to post on the same subject over and over if there is some possible conclusion that can be arrived at (such as why soccer sucks for example). This subject is unknowable since none of us has been dead, at least long enough to really know so sorry, Mike, but science doesn't prove or disprove anything. The thread is a waste of time.

Further, I'm not sure how this has any connection to the unrelated issue as to the positive or negative aspects of religion on human society. There are religions that don't believe in an afterlife and still teach there is a God or supernatural force. The poster is mixing issues.

Um.

How the fuck does medical science prove something doesn't exist that they can't see, hear, taste or smell.

Or even show up on instruments with limited spectrum range.

They can't.

It doesn't exist because they say so.

Which is exactly what they started out to prove to start with.

Boy, are you gonna feel silly when you die & there really is a "heaven" & "hell"! I think there really is such a thing, just not a cloudy place with angels & a hot place with devils. I think heaven is a place where all of my family & freinds are, where you don't have to clean your house, & you can eat anything you want & never gain a pound. Hell would be a place where i wasn't with any of my loved ones, & had to run a register on never ending double coupon day at Walmart, without a break. So basically my life now......;)

Not sure what if anything is on the other side so might as well enjoy the ride.

I'm also an atheist, not sure if the thread starter is an atheist, but looks like.

There are only materials in this world, human bodies are also a combination of materials, the difference is that all the material for human bodies are kept in a specific orders.

I would love to believe in an after life - it would make going to the funerals of loved ones a lot easier - but common sense just keeps telling me it's a load of bullshit.

I think you need to know a few things: About your lovely little 666 in your signature of Walt Disney's signature; 666 is supposed to be the number of the devil/hell. 777 is the number for God/heaven.

You say you are an atheist yet you seem to show things of satanism. Buddy, remember this, the devil believes in God, so if you believe in the devil then, yeah, better start believing in God, too.

Now as for your post, why do you feel the need to try and tell everyone who has a belief that there is an afterlife that they are wrong? Where do you get off thinking you are 100% right?

None of us knows 100% for sure if we are right or wrong, but that's what faith is, believing in something you aren't sure is true/going to happen/etc.

It is NOT religion that has caused the mess on this earth, it is people. People misinterpreting the things their religions believes in.

Like how some people sit there and get pissed off at gays saying they're horrible and will go to hell and they commit all these crimes against them. Yet they call themselves Christians. If they were true Christians they would know that it is said, "Hate the sin, not the sinner." You may not like something a person does but that doesn't give you a reason to dislike the person. And you cannot judge someone else for their sins when you, yourself, have a list of sins most likely as long or longer than the other's.

And it is people like you who try to shove their opinion down other people's throat who cause the mess in this world. They can't possibly begin to think that they may be the one in the wrong. I'm not saying you are, though. All I know is that I have my opinion and that is that I believe there is an afterlife. Because you choose to believe otherwise doesn't make me angry or get me riled up enough to tell you that you're an idiot. So don't sit there and tell me, and those like me, that we are wrong, cause none of us know.

Give someone a cassette tape without a cassette player and it's just bits of of plastic.

The human body and mind is not just "chemical reactions inside your brain"
it is also comprised of electrical and magnetic impulses the very same thing which allows music to be stored on a cassette tape.

Science needs to know what it's looking for, before it can find it. Without the right equipment to understand it, it can't be proven to exist.
