Well the problem is, Wet-- the states have not limited themselves to "Police, firefighters, teachers, roads, schools "
It's easy to talk about the states being petrie dishes, but we are not bacteria, we are human beings. And while the states are being petrie dishes, people are being forced to grow up live and die under petrie dish conditions.
It should be pretty fucking obvious that most human beings who are getting fucked over by the majority rule of the state they live in will look for succor.
And i gotta say, this latest crop of absolutely fucking insane anti-abortion/anti-conception/anti-health care for women laws are going to result in the states losing yet another significant measure of control, because women will have to make sure of it, as part of that "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" that all humans are endowed with as inalienable rights.
Bitch about federal mandates all you like, but you won't impress me much.
Actually, the conditions in petri dishes are almost perfect for sustaining the life that is in them.
I have to agree with what you say about the anti-abortion laws. I have never heard of anti-conception laws in the US but I suppose you mean anti-contraception laws. I don't believe there are any of them still on the books, but there probably have been sometime or other, and Santorum would like to pass some.
I have also never heard of any anti-health care for women laws. As far as I know, the health care for men and women is the same, after allowing for the gender differences we all know about.
BTW, with Obamacare, the states have already lost whatever control they might have had over health care. Hopefully, that misbegotten law will be repealed in a year, before it does any more damage.
I hope you know, that line about "Life, Liberty...." is not in the Constitution.
