They made me change my name.

I started my new position today. I've been moved over to the trucking brokerage to work as the sole expeditor for a broker who works in moving mainly agricultural products. Training was a bit rough today - my trainer is quite possibly the most hyperactive person I have ever met in my life - but things went pretty well over all.

And then they made me change my name.

Apparently there is already someone by my name working at this company! (How dare they!! I thought my mother was so original!!)

I was immediately asked to pick out a new name for myself.

I chose Rosie. My middle name is Rose (tada! the reason for my handle) and "Rosie" is the only nickname I've ever answered to.

I must confess that I'm almost embarrassed when using my new name with customers. When they respond, "Hello, Rosie!" I almost feel like they're being sarcastic. lol It's very weird.

No questions... no rant. I just thought I'd share.

:D

How's things with ya'll?
Yes, I said "ya'll".

I like it. If I can just keep that O'Donnell woman out of my mind when I say it. I've met you, and O'Donnell doesn't hold a candle to you. I'll work on keeping my mind off the wrong woman when I think "Rosie.";)

My nickname as a little girl was Rosie, and it was also the fake name that I used when I waitressed at a strip club. It definitely suited my beer-wench persona, but then once I started stripping and kept the same name, it felt a bit unglamorous. It's funny how a name just works for some situations, and others it just won't.

I love the name Rosie, though. It's one of my favorites. It sounds soft and gentle and sweet and innocent. I also associate it with the kick-ass visual image of Rosie the Riveter from the old war posters.

It's hard to get used to using a fake name, though...

Good luck!

What a cool opportunity! Will they let you try on names for a while? That would be fun. A day or two with a bunch of different names to see how they fit.

I like Rosie.

Thanks superlittlegirl. That's an image I always liked. I'll use that to drive away the image of the TV bitch.

*snickering*

Rosie. LOL! I'm so not gonna call you that. :p

Please do.

:D

I think "Rosie" will grow on me. I'm chipper...I just don't think I'm "Rosie" chipper. lol

Nora - THANK YOU. lol

I like Rosie for you. And it sounds way better than being called "red rose." Then people might wonder.

I never saw the Rosie O'Donnell show. I remember her from her stand-up days, and while she was funny, she was far from chipper.

Yeah... "red rose" was a bit over the top, I thought. I didn't want to make people wonder what kinds of wares I was selling. Heh.

I didn't mean to imply that Rosie O was chipper... just that the name "Rosie" in general sounds all sun-shiny and puppy dogs and ice cream and stuff.

:p
