There's no end to Obama's Opulence

WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THIS??????????????

Look, I understand you're a bitter old man well past your prime and still clinging to a mid-life crisis in hopes of feeling younger. It's not up to me to provide the numbers, it's your responsibility for validating a discredited source. Hell, you don't even know the name of the source.

Just another petty, partisan hack with too much time on his hands.

..White House, DOD Dismiss Asia Trip’s Rumored Price Tag
by Erin Vogel | November 04, 2010

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs dismissed reports by Press Trust of India that President Barack Obama's trip to Mumbai and Indonesia would cost the U.S. $200 million per day.

During Thursday's briefing, Gibbs stated that this report was "simply not true."

While Gibbs maintained that he would not go into the actual figure of what it costs to move the president from one country to another, he did state the costs are no more then what it took to travel former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W Bush.

PTI released the article on the president's trip on Tuesday and made additional claims that roughly "3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President."

White House spokesperson Tommy Vietor said, "The numbers reported in this article have no basis in reality."

Vietor remarked that due to security reasons he could not get into trip details but added the "numbers are wildly inflated."

In another article PTI published Thursday, the report declared the President would "be protected by a fleet of 34 warships."

Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell was quick to dispel these accusations during Thursday's briefing.

"I will take the liberty this time of dismissing as absolutely absurd this notion that somehow we are deploying ten percent of the Navy, some 34 ships, and an aircraft carrier in support of the president's trip to Asia -- that's just comical. Nothing close to that is being done."

In a statement also disregarding the PTI projections, Gordon Johndroe, former deputy White House spokesperson under President George W. Bush said, "I am positive there will not be '34 warships' involved in this trip."

Both Morrell and Gibbs reminded the press during their briefings that while the projected trip costs were inaccurate, Mumbai was once a target of terrorist organizations. The secretaries were referring to the November 26, 2009 attack that took place at Taj Mahal hotel, the same hotel President Obama is scheduled to stay. While cost details are not being released for the President's trip this Friday, the White House has stated that they are taking all necessary precautions to keep the president protected while abroad.

Because Zip's stunted perception has determined that Obama and Gibbs have never lied, or prevaricated the facts, for their own political gain.

Look, you're the one who started this utterly preposterous thread about what would be a non-problem and a non-issue even if it were real, which it isn't, and now you're still here on the fifth page foaming and seething. That's stunted perception.

You won't find more than a handful, unless you count the ones you started.

why should obama worry about the little things...after all obama doesn't pay for these things.

I'm sure every night obama thanks the American tax payer for his lavish lifestyle

Holy shit, you'd think he was God.

US to spend $200 mn a day on Obama's Mumbai visit

Mumbai: The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs. 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama's visit to the city.

"The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.

"Except for personnel providing immediate security to the President, the US officials may not be allowed to carry weapons. The state police is competent to take care of the security measures and they would be piloting the Presidential convoy," the official said on condition of anonymity.

Navy and Air Force has been asked by the state government to intensify patrolling along the Mumbai coastline and its airspace during Obama's stay. The city's airspace will be closed half-an-hour before the President's arrival for all aircraft barring those carrying the US delegation.

The personnel from SRPF, Force One, besides the NSG contingent stationed here would be roped in for the President's security, the official said.

The area from Hotel Taj, where Obama and his wife Michelle would stay, to Shikra helipad in Colaba would be cordoned off completely during the movement of the President.

It's just a matter of time before the actual number of ships in the fleet are counted.

Eventually, the actual cost of the trip will be available in some form from the GAO, as well.

Much of the response from the White House and Pentagon revolves around denying one article in the Indian press as false. Posters here, via talking points from CNN and the HuffPo, discredit the "anonymous source" in Indian government.

In actuality, the Indian government press source is often unnamed , and is a credible resource for disseminating government information in India. Many news agencies, covering a variety of issues, omit the name of the government contact.

The quoted article discrediting an "anonymous government official":

"Mumbai: The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama's visit to the city. "The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said. About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here."

More examples, from different news agengies in India report much of the same details, without naming officials disseminiating the information:

• Mumbai: As part of the heightened security measures for the visit of U.S. President Barack Obama, the Maharashtra government is planning to take the help of the National Security Guard (NSG) from Mumbai, in addition to enlisting the full strength of the city police and some battalions of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF). The elite force had been called to Mumbai during the 26/11 attacks. The city now has its own NSG hub.

• Mr. Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are set to arrive in the city on Saturday and will stay the night in the presidential suite of Mumbai's Taj Mahal Palace and Tower hotel. Around 3,000 personnel will accompany the President and an equal number are believed to have already flown in and out of the city to prepare for the visit. Among those accompanying the President will be 200 of his personal staff and about 150 journalists.

• “All security decisions are with the Maharashtra police and the State Home department. We have got SRPF battalions. We may ask for NSG snipers since they are based here, locally. Central forces are not necessary,” a government official who did not wish to be named, said.

• Mr. Obama will be coming with three Boeing 747 jumbo jets and two others will be coming before him with equipment. An advance team of U.S. officials is set to arrive here on Wednesday. The U.S. is spending about $200 million a day towards Mr. Obama's visit, the official said on Tuesday.

•The Economic Times reported last week that "the administration has booked the entire Taj Mahal hotel - all 570 rooms - for the duration of the visit, which is expected to last just two days. Dozens of other rooms have been reserved in other hotels, the report said. The people accompanying the Obamas include Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists favorable to the Obama White House."

• The Maharashtra state government has reportedly requested the Indian air force and navy to step up patrolling in and around Mumbai for the duration of Obama's visit.

• Indian Navy and Coast Guard vessels patrol the Mumbai coastline even as US warships including US Navy’s Peleliu, an amphibious assault ship, carrying choppers, are in the Indian waters off the Mumbai harbour, police said.

The US aircraft the Peleliu usually carries are AV-8B Harrier attack planes, AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopters, CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters, CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters, and UH-1N Huey helicopters, sources said.

The Navy and Air Force have been asked to intensify patrolling along the Mumbai coast and its airspace during Obama’s stay. The city’s airspace will be closed half-an-hour before the President’s arrival for all aircraft barring those carrying the US delegation.

• The State government is upset over Mr. Obama giving the police memorial for 26/11 martyrs the go-by. The authorities have also written to the MEA expressing their displeasure. “Mr. Obama is going to make a statement on terrorism at the Taj, where entry is only by invitation. More people died outside the hotel. What about them? What about the police officers who were killed? It should have been a public statement. We have written to the MEA expressing our displeasure."

• "Making security arrangements in the narrow lanes of south Mumbai for Obama's visit to Chabad House is actually easier than sanitising a busy railway station and its surrounding areas. But we were not very keen on even the Chabad House visit. So, if a visit to Chabad House is difficult for security reasons, it will be even more difficult for the government machinery to provide blanket security at a station as busy as CST," a senior state government official added.

• Military Officials coordinating the visit to India of American president, Barak Obama, have been told to rule out a big-ticket signing ceremony for two defence safeguards agreements that the US has pressed for.

• Tunnel for Obama near Mani Bhavan. It could give a sense of superior American organisation, or be an indicator of a deep-set persecution complex. It could also be a manifestation of Uncle Sam’s penchant for a show of strength, pertains to US president Barack Obama’s planned visit to Mani Bhavan —the Gandhi museum. US secret agents visited the museum to plan Obama’s security detail. They were accompanied by officers of Mumbai Police and civic officials. While inspecting the route and the buildings lining up the route to the museum, the Americans detected a skyscraper near Peddar road and also found the area to be highly populated. Since it is difficult to monitor such a congested area, they came up with a quick solution which left the Indians accompanying them amazed: A bomb-proof over-ground tunnel — to be installed by US military engineers in just an hour. The tunnel would be a kilometre long and measure 12ft by 12ft — enough to let Obama’s cavalcade pass through. The tunnel would be centrally air-conditioned, fitted with close-circuit television cameras, and will be heavily guarded at every point, including, of course, its entry and exit. Details about when exactly the tunnel would be made were not forthcoming. But officials said that the structure would be dismantled immediately after Obama leaves the area.

Notice: NO names of quoted officials in any of those different articles coming directly from India. Not all that odd to have unnamed officials quoted.

The right wing nutjobs on this site need to have a daily source of outrage. Whether or not it is even true doesn't matter in the slightest. As long as they can email it and post it to all the other non-thinking morons who need their daily dose of outrage is the only important thing.

It's kind of funny in how pathetic it is. :D

Mumbai Muslims Angry Obama’s Security Dog Named ‘Khan’…

Muslim outrage of the day…

(Rediff.com) — Muslims in Mumbai are up in arms against a United States military sniffer dog allegedly with name tag of ‘Khan’ that has landed in the city as part of President Barack Obama security arrangements.

On Tuesday, the German Shepherd arrived in the Mumbai airport from a Hercules C130 transport plane. The German Shepherd allegedly had a tag around its neck which read ‘MWD Khan.’ MWD stands for Military Working Dog. Khan is alleged to be the name of the dog.

Angry Muslims in the city and the state are threatening to protest this ‘insult’ to the community.

The issue became a rage when a tabloid had reported the incident and quoted veteran actor Raza Murad objecting to the dog being named ‘Khan.’

Though noted lyricist Javed Akhtar had been quoted to ignore the issue and focus on welcoming the VIP guest.

Maharashtra Samajwadi Party leader MLA Abu Asim Azmi also threatened to undertake a protest. He said that the US deliberately wants to incite the Muslims through such acts and the party would stage a protest on the issue.

Prominent Muslim religious heads have expressed anger and dismay on the information of a US dog being named ‘Khan.’

Maulana Syed Athar Ali said that it is a known fact that Muslims detest pigs and dogs.

“To name a dog a Muslim name by US security agencies is to deliberately incite the Muslim community. We would be meeting soon and devise a strategy to protest and seek apology from the US,” said Maulana Athar Ali.

You fucking ding dongs spent 8 years posting unsubstantiated bullshit about Bush without even a media article to back it up, so keep your sanctimonious crap to yourself. So when will Obama refute those charges with the true costs?

Vetteman is really LBJ.

Whoda thunkit.
