The Weekly Weigh-in Thread.

After a week of 18 hr shifts, I'm ready to drop a pant size. Going shopping for some 38 jeans. Weight in tomorow. Another long week next week. Did find a great gym right next to the HI in Lumberton so that will help. Not gonna make it to the gym today, no energy left after Crazy last night but we did have lots of fun.

maybe it's my scale, and not me...

it tells me i weigh 10lbs more in the morning than i do at night...

i'm so confused.

I use the scale at the hospital when Master Gil goes for dialysis - it's pretty accurate because the dialysis patients are weighed before and after to make sure they are getting dialysed properly (1 litre of fluid = 1 kilogram of weight). 1kg = 2.2lbs for a rough estimate for our friends using imperial measurements.

I take off my watch and shoes (every little bit helps) and wear similar clothes each time, also weigh in the morning, although I've usually had a cup of coffee and a couple of crackers to sustain me until I get back hom to eat breakfast :)

I haven't weighed myself for a couple of weeks though - might do that next week :)

Quick reply as I am on Mamid's comp and she wants on it. Not submissive at all when she wants her comp....no way....I also do not mess with her when she has knitting needles in her hands. Especially the ones with lights built in. Its like a frickin' laser sight for vampire stakes they are!

Anyway, the diet I am about to go on is: the Sacred Heart Diet

And STAY OFF!!!

*harumph*

okay, so I've fallen on all the coke on the house, doing my noblest sacrifice to save my man from the evil coke daemon. "I'll Save You!" *Jumps onto the torpedo of Coke* just because I brought in another one...

Quit Reading Over My Shoulder You ... You... PERVERT! GO AWAY!

okay.. now that he's gone... Yah, I need to diet too. But right now I'm working on getting used to eating one package of thinsations, not 4 at a time. with home made icing to boot...

I'm bad. Real bad...

it just means you'll have to learn more recipies. Healthier ones.

hmm.. we have tofu... it needs to be eaten!

Turducken scares me! But I looooove tofu. (I'm a vegetarian, if I hadn't mentioned that already.)

I have no problem making vegetarian recipies.

I know of several that are completely vegan too. I should make some. :)

Hi there...

I don't get on Lit much at all anymore...every few weeks or so I stop by. I'd like to participate if no one minds. I can't handle a journal or anything like that at this point, but I need some kind of accountability.

I lost 22 lbs last year, but gained 10 of them back when I went back to work last fall. I'm stressed out a lot and don't always do a good job of making time for myself. I'm working on it. My short term goal is 15 lbs. I don't really have a time frame, though it would be nice to have them off by summer.

I like the 3 fat chicks site. Another good one is www.sparkpeople.com. It's a lot like weightwatcher's online (without the points), and it's free.

Vegetarian does not mean 'diet' in the least... Just saying... My favourite vegetarian dish has more calories than most dishes with meat do.

Preparing food in the wok is a good idea if you want it to be healthy and not calory-packed. You don't need much oil. And if you'd rather play, you'll always have a piece of ginger in the fridge. ;)

Yep, vegetarian food can be just as bad for you as meaty food. If being a vegetarian was automatically fewer calories than eating meat, I wouldn't need to be trying to lose weight!

Another good thing to do is to take a few body measurements every 2 weeks or so, or once a month. It's a better indication of what's going on with your body than just your gravitational pull.

It's not a fun thing to do. Especially the first one, but helpful.

That's a good point. I do mine by corset measurements. At the end of 2005, I was wearing a 32" corset. At the end of 2006, I had ordered a 24" corset. I can't get it closed anywhere near all the way, of course, but it's proof of a definite shrinkage - my bigger corsets are just too big now!

Well I had company visiting from out of town this weekend and since going out to eat isn’t particularly conducive to losing weight, at least for me, there went any previous progress from the Xmas gain. Hopefully this week will be better.

i used to do this religously on the first of the month, but fell out of the habbit. Guess I should get back to it. Especially since I'm getting around to making some of those clothes I've been meaning to do for myself for a while now.

Ok, I confess that I fell off the wagon in about 3 days. In my defense, though, my life went to shit, and I'm a huge emotional eater. So I worked out most of my issues and stopped rationalizing with, "Well, my life sucks, so I deserve this [insert unhealthy food here]." I'm starting again today. Maybe I can actually do it this time. :D

so, it's been 15 days. my original goal was to go without any bready things for two weeks, and i didn't QUITE make it, HOWEVER, i really do think i changed my eating habits a bit. if i can keep with it, i'll be really happy. instead of depending on white bread to fill me up, i've been eating more veggies, fruits, and protein. an egg for breakfast instead of toast. i'm fairly happy with the results of this experiment. i feel better about my eating habits, although my weight hasn't fluxuated yet.

I was bad today...I had pho (soup) and an ice cream cone. Sigh. Plus a Reese's cup last night. Must. Stop. That.

Or maybe I should just quit trying, and be happy with myself.

I said I'd weigh in in a week when the bloating went down and it did.
I also re-started the WW program and did really well...
So I'm down 10.6 pounds. :D
I consider my 5 pounds for January lost.

its a hard habit to stop
but now you are conscious that you are doing it, it might help to stop somewhat.

Congratulations! That's fabulous!

I got a comment on my weight loss journal (which I will be relocating, because you have to register to comment and I don't like that) that was very encouraging. She gave real diet tips, good advice. So I was rather surprised to find she's an anorexic. I've never seen anybody use the word "thinspiration" who wasn't anorexic, and nobody but an anorexic restricts themselves to 200-300 calories per day.

Jesus Etoile - I read her blog and she is damn scary! Her whole thought process screams the mentality of an eating disorder.

Well my weight loss slowed down - have lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks but did lose 3 inches in the waist line. I figured I probably ate too many nuts which slowed my loss down (need to be more diligent about counting them out and then putting the bag away...hehe). This week I can start adding a little grains/fruit which should be interesting to see what happens.

Well not much change for me, I weighed in at 227 last night at the gym, which is down from 229 the other week, but my weight has been known to fluctuate a couple pounds either way any given day so.... and I’m still 6'5".

Two things I learned from last year

!. Make a plan and stick to it. And the weight will come off faster than you think. Not in a day, or a week, or a month, but you can make a huge difference in 3 months in how you look.

2. You may find yourself feeling worse in the beginning as you lose 5 or 10 pounds or perhaps even more. I think because it's harder to address the problem and see yourself as you are than it is to stop caring at all and even gain every month. I sure didn't have one moment of guilt gaining the 25 pounds in the second half of last year. I can only imagine how difficult it is for someone to lose 150 pounds without getting discouraged.

Half a month is gone now. If you are one of those still on the sidelines wishing, wanting, and hoping, but not doing, then get off your butt and get started.
