The Weekly Weigh-in Thread.

I sure didn't have one moment of guilt gaining the 25 pounds in the second half of last year. I can only imagine how difficult it is for someone to lose 150 pounds without getting discouraged.
I'm a little confused here. When you say you didn't have guilt while gaining weight, were you not aware of the weight gain? Or did you just not care? Or am I misunderstanding altogether?

I am doing mostly pretty well sticking to my diet. Haven't had any treats from work, there are so many tempting candy bowls and such but I'm avoiding it pretty well. I need to get more of my sugar-free candies though, and drink more water (which I use water sensations for). My diet blog has moved here, which is actually a resurrection of an old one I used to have.

And you know what? I was about to say "I'm not exercising either" but I am going to do it NOW.

Well okay that was fun. Next time I will probably wear a bra and shoes. Maybe pants too, but I'm not sure yet. :)

At some level I was aware I was gaining weight. But I wasn't getting on a scale. It's not hard to make bad choices and not get enough exercise and find yourself 25 pounds heavier in 6 months. Especially when you are getting older.

I've come to the realization that exercise can no longer be a choice, but as necessary as eating or breathing. And I always do well until summer. Then things fall apart. I think I need to think about setting a big goal for fall. Some kind of event to work towards like running a 10K. Or a 100 mile bike ride. Or 3 days of marathon sex.

i know the feeling
its summer here... and its so god damn hard to want to exercise when its really hot outside. it just didnt happen yesterday i didnt want to fry with over 40 degree (celcius) heat... i wasnt going anywhere
makes me want to get a treadmill or something inside... but alas i cant afford one...
must think of a new plan to boycott summer and still be able to exercise everyday.

Finally leveled out. Gained a whopping 0.2 pounds in the last week. Haven't done my exercises for today yet.

Hmmm.

I'm better with exercising in summer. I like to go jogging before my work day starts. This I can only do in summer, because in winter it's too dark. And at 6 or 7 am it's still quite nice outside. :)

The gym is 10 minutes walk away but if it's really hot I drive there. There's air con and huge fans but I still end up hot as hell. Mornings are a better option now it's so hot! :)

1st weigh-in

One week is over, weigh-in day. :nana:

Original goal: -18.5 kg

1st week: -1.1 kg

Leaves: 17,4 kg to go.

I am happy with the progress so far. I must admit I haven't started an exercise program yet due to school stress, but that should be over in a week, hopefully. What I did was watch my diet, I still eat almost everything, though try to eat more veggies and fruit, but everything else in much smaller portions than before.

Wishing all a wonderful week! :)

My exercise in the summer comes from kayaking. I hope to get out a lot more this year, I'm storing my boat at home so I can go wherever I want. I have no idea how many calories I burn out there, but three laps of Lake Anne is probably pretty good exercise. Water activities are a good way to exercise in the summer.

It seems like that would be difficult. To go from leg based exercise to arm based. I'd be worried about losing conditioning while my arms got strong enough to carry the load.

It's always good to have more than one activity. I'm looking forward to some weekend bike rides once it warms up.

I'm down a pound from Saturday. I'll make Wednesday my official weigh day from now on. I'm more excited about my once a month measurements on the 15th of every month.

If people dont mind I'll join in. According to the BMI I'm seriously overweight, at 12.6 stone.... so I think its time to try and get it off. My ambition is to lose two stone.

So my weigh in day is Wednesday... and today I'm 12.6 stone.... here we go....

At the moment I'm on a GI diet thing, which worked before Xmas and I lost a stone, and then put it back on again when i got stressed and stress ate... so i can hope I can get it off again...heres trying!

But I dont have a Dom to complain so theres not that impetus there... but there is my own feeling good at stake.

yeah feeling good and health benefits are great reasons to lose weight. thats what im doing it for
sadly wont be able to weigh in on sunday, wont be here at home..... anyways will have to do it monday night or tues morn.
exciting
dont know if im going to be a loss this week but hey its only the beginning
if i dont look forwards to next week
xo

For most of us anyway.

Today is legs and shoulders. I'm gonna start squatting. Nothing like squats to make you sore for days.

Etoile, it's your birthday so enjoy a cheat day!

I am a bad girl... I licked the beaters from the birthday cake my wife made last night! And of course I'm going to EAT some birthday cake. And tonight we are going to get ice cream too. But it's my birthday, oh well! WD, bring on the spankings! :nana:

edit: We posted at the same time, how about instead of off my diet spankings I get birthday spankings instead?!

Also, another OTS victory for you. I'm wearing the same skirt I wore on Xmas Day, and it's a little bit more loose than it was then!

Just want to wail atm, i've been eating quite well, havent exercised as much due to the horrendous weather and i'm almost half a pound heavier.

I don't need to loose much just to get back off the 10 pounds i gained and I'll be comfortable and fit in my clothes again. But I cant get the bloody stuff off.

I have even gotten ridiculous and started taking garlic and vinegar pills to try and help like a friend suggested. If nothing else I guess i'll have a very halthy heart.

I like the idea of one per calorie better.

Any one taking vitamins? I'm taking a gnc softgel in the morning and one at night. I sure do feel a lot better than I did before the change.

And I'm doing my meditation book. The 8 minute meditation by Victor Davich. I'm in the 3 week of the 8 week course. It's usually the best 8 minutes of my day.

I take a vitamin each day that is supposed to help with 'free radicals'. And the meditation is a wonderful idea. I need to restart mine and kick the ciggy habit soon.

This might sound like a silly question but has anyone tried the pole dancing exercises? If you have does it work?

No, but I'll be happy to volunteer the pole.

One more dark ride to the gym and I'll be done with the ellipse until Monday.

I have the Carmen Electra Stripper's Workout DVD set, but I haven't really used it. The main reason (excuse?) is that I don't have anywhere to do it...there's no room in our bedroom where the TV is. But there's room downstairs in front of my in-laws' TV, so I am thinking about doing it there when they're not around. Of course I am also waiting to use their exercise bike...I am hoping they will get rid of the Xmas tree this weekend so that room can get back to normal! (The bike is currently behind the tree.)

But anyway, I will let you know how the DVD goes. I don't think it has the pole bit, it's mostly lap dancing skills.

I have that dvd on my anniversary list, me thinks I have a good chance of gettin g it as long as i promise to practice the moves :D

Despite my best intentions, I've never been able to stick with a dvd very long. I just got a new yoga one that has 6 different workouts on it and I have only done one so far. I'd be more likely to make it to a class, but none around here to go to.

Well it's Friday, and time for the weekly fess up. Today at rehab I was down to 254.6 lbs. Which is really odd because Wed on the same scale I was 260.something... almost 6 pounds in 2 days? Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot as Netz likes to say.

The lead nurse thinks it's water weight.

Also on the plus side is my BP is now staying under 160/95 consistently. Still not where it should be but not in the uber dangerous zone like it was a couple of weeks ago. My father died of a stroke, and I don't want to follow in his footsteps in that direction. I am staying on the docs about the BP until it's back where it should be.

*shyly sort of peaks in* I'm overweight, nothing like morbid obesity but I don't really like myself the way I am. It also really just hit me that my mother is going in for a gastric bypass next month and if I don't do somehting about it now I'm likely to go the same way in 20. My mother also mentioned the possibility about me having diabetes (among a whole other host of problems related to various systems in my body)...and that really honestly scares me.

At the moment I don't have access to a scale, and I really honestly hate them. My other problem is that currently I'm at university, and I'm eating cafeteria food almost every day. (Lots of white starches, lots of sugar, lots of frying foods.) There's a salad bar but it gets really old really fast. (Well, cafeteria food gets old anyways, but they at least change up the hot entrees.) I try to drink water (or juice) instead of soda, but damnit I like my sugar-flavored sugar. Any other tips from people?

My first small victory for today: Putting away the potato chips.
This is, however, totally overlooked by the fact I just ate a loaded foot long Subway sandwich. U.U

Juice has just as many calories as soda. If you don't like plain water, season it with a bit of lemon or just a tiny bit of juice.
If you really really enjoy soda, allow yourself to have ONE every day, or every two days. Don't get the liquid you need from soda, get it from water. If then you still want to have one, do so. But stop with one!

Some tips and tricks how to deal with cafeteria food (and assuming you have one meal a day at the cafeteria, not all of them): Have maybe two or three days a week in which you eat salad. Bring your own dressing (you can make nice vinaigrettes yourself and keep them in a glass/bottle with lid and shake them up before eating them; they keep a long time when stored in the fridge). Bring little things to change it around a bit (a little feta cheese, some olives, special veggies you like in your salad). That way you can change it around a bit. And it's not salad everyday. Me, I would grow very unhappy if I could only have salad all the time. I need some warm meals inbetween.
Check out the menu in advance (if that's possible; at my cafeteria they show the menu a week or two in advance) to figure out on which day you'll have salad and when to go for a hot meal. Get your cafeteria favourites when they come up, even if they are fattening. Other than that go for the hot food when it seems rather healthier. If you can, take extra veggies to go with it. Eat the veggies (or a small salad) first, afterwards the hot meal. Listen to your body. It tells you when it has had enough food. This way you'll leave the fat stuff and eat the veggies.

There's only so much one can do with cafeteria food, though. I know. I've been living from that food for about 2 years now. What I find important is to control the food I consume outside of the cafeteria meal. I have a healthy breakfast with cereals with lots of fiber, skimmed milk, fruit. I have a fruit mid-morning and in the afternoon instead of cookies or the like. I have whole-wheat bread, salad, fruit in the evening. I try to do small portions of everything except the fruit and veggies and salads. I try to limit my out-of-the-cafeteria fat intake (no butter, no whole dairy products...)

Add to this some sports and it's quite possible to live healthy even with cafeteria foods. :)

Well, if we're confessing...I made it a whole day and a half before I fell off the wagon again. Why is this so hard? And why am I so hungry all the time? Grrrrr. Oh, well, I'll try again next week. *Sigh*
