The Weekly Weigh-in Thread.

Woohoo!! Another 2 lbs gone. That makes 25 lbs lost so far. i'd like to lose another 58-68 lbs if i can. Let's keep it up! The thing is, i'm not really trying. i honestly think that the puppy play on weekends is helping a lot. Being a puppy is tough work. *shrugs* Whatever works.

Goddamn it!

I'm putting back weight now that I'm in remission. Why do I want to eat crap again?

OK, not crap, really good Indian food, but still.

And the trainer spaced out our Sunday workout, arrgh.

Today - 1 slice all-rye nasty german health bread, PB, small amount of J, coffee.

Orange for snack later
chicken breast and frozen peas for dinner.

For breakfast I have 6 egg whites. Throw the yokes away. I make a mix of oatmeal and salsa for my deviled egg concoction. Sounds gross I know. I haven't persuaded anyone to try it.

For a snack I'll eat about 1/3 of a 32 oz dannon vanilla light and fit yogurt with about 3/4 of a cup of All Bran cereal. And sometimes throw in a few almonds as well.

For meals I usually have green veggies and lean meats. A whole can of green beans is only 70 calories. Throw in some baked chicken and heat some salsa with the beans and I'm good to go. If I have a carb it's usually brown rice or a sweet potato. Or a low carb wrap or whole grain bread.

For treats I'm trying the 60 calorie puddings. I used to get the frozen fudge bars, but I discovered they were much better dipped in peanut butter. If you know something gives you a problem, don't buy it.

And I don't go more than 3 hours without eating. Sometimes I wonder if I'm taking in enough calories.

Well i know it hasnt been a week since my last weigh-in, but this morning i tipped the scale at about 223 lbs. Thats down about 3 lbs from what i was the other day, so i might have to attribute the loss to the time of day i'm weighing in at. I really should get a proper % body fat test for a better idea.

I'm at about 157ish.... so a few lbs but then you factor in when I weigh in and what I ate that day and clothes... blah blah blah.
I'm getting there more so in inches then actual weight so thats all that matters.

I made it to 161.8 on Sunday, but I also had a few glasses of champagne, heh. I realized that the reason I like to actually drink enough to get a buzz when I drink, is because if I just have a glass of wine and don't get warm and fuzzy for it, it's just empty calories. If I'm going to drink calories, I want to have fun with them.

I dont think i told everyone what a great thread this is.. I love it..

Yes I am 5'3" tall.. which means i should be around 125 pounds.. which is the smallest i have ever been. That was before my husband..:) Today i was bad.. I had a snickers bar.. hangs head.. i had a really good reason though.. I did 9 massages today.. i needed the sugar boost.. and it was the only think handy..

So tommorrow i will have to be extra good.. i will even eat a salad..scrunches up face... i am not really a salad fan anymore.. i think i ate too many of them a while back.. I do try.. i get it ready ..dressing on the side.. but i cant seem to put the fork in my mouth. Must have some mental block. shrug shoulders..

well you dont have to eat one every day, its a good mentality thing you have, you know you should eat them
so perhaps dont do it every day, just every second of third... try not to overdo it
as you said maybe you had too many a while back
i know i dont like eating the same thing everyday of the week

I'm down over 5 on the unofficial scale for the month. But I knew this was the easy 20 I lose every spring.

You lose 20 lbs every spring, WD?

Has anybody ever heard of Medifast? I read about it online, it's supposedly a 97% liquid diet but the website looks kind of different.

I am loving Cocoa Via chocolate bars. 100 calories, 6 grams of fat, tastes like the real thing.

Down a little for the week. Not enough to call it a pound. But I did poop when I got home.

Etoile,

I have known a few folks who have done the Medifast route - it is a liquid diet and you too can have a yummy drink for every meal (if I remember right there is some kind of fiber cracker type thing that was added at some point too). The tough things about these type of diets: you can lose weight but you haven't learned anything about your diet. For example, you haven't learned what works for you and what doesn't. Some folks do better on a high protein diet versus high carbs. I am one of those who can clearly tell that carbs is my issue (am not a sugar fiend thank god). So it's tough when you finally go off the liquid diet and have to eat real food.

My system is struggling with all this extra fiber and such. I have a history of IBS and I am bouncing horribly for the last 2 weeks which would explain some of the plateau I am experiencing. Hoping it settles down soon - going to add metamucil to the my regimen since this should even things out plus has the added benefit of "filling" you up before a meal.

I missed a workout for the first time this year last night. And my early one today. Was feeling a cold coming on. I feel a lot better now. The owner of the gym has another one about 30 miles away that's open on Sunday that we can use. I've been looking for an excuse to check it out.

I missed most of the last 2 weeks. Had the flu and followed it with a cold. Just got back to the gym last night. Weighed in and was down a lb. Most have converted some muscle back to fat. I eat like a horse when Im sick.

I think I am going to become one of those weirdos who walks my building at lunchtime. 30 minutes, sticking to my half of the building (pods 5-9), and using the stairs between floors. Walking should make me feel better and might improve my metabolism.

If I don't report in by Tuesday morning that I did it on Monday, somebody smack me.

I got some nice comments from one of the nurses at the hospital this morning :) Even though I haven't lost any more weight, and in fact have gained about half a pound, my body shape has changed and I'm more toned. *Smiles happily* :D

I had a throat infection before Christmas and missed about three weeks of exercise - I also made the mistake of doing a gym session while I was feeling ill and ended up making myself worse  However all is back to normal now and I'm trying to get there at least 3 times a week now.

Great plan.

I am even heavier than I was when I started working out, but it feels SO good. I mean, seriously, how else am I supposed to get my endorphins?

I had a bad week this week, I didn't lose anything but I didn't gain either. Thursday was very hard for some reason .. ended up just having dinner with the kids and saying screw it for a night.

As I ate my cupcake (that the kids and I made) last night, I told myself not to get down but just to get right back at it today. It wasn't easy.

Sorry to hear about your bad week. :rose: I know the "screw it for a night" feeling all too well. Sunshine after rain. :)

I have been super stressed and then just plain lazy in the past two weeks to the point of being accused of having no self discipline. I made a wagger with a coke-holic: he doesn't drink any coke for a months and I don't eat anything after 6 pm for the same period of time. Not sure how helpful that is going to be but it boosts my motivation immensly.

Next week more regular times are starting in my life again and I should be able to visit the gym 4 times a week I hope. Well, first class is today, so I start to get moving again. :)

Original goal: -18.5 kg

Lost/Gained: +0.5 kg

19 kg to go ...*sigh*

Thanks, titmouse. My schedule this past week was very out of whack. Not getting home until 9 almost every night. Not only did my eating habits get screwed up but my house looks like it exploded on the inside. I also want to see fast results as i am very impatient.

I gained a pound by the scale, but I finally gave up wearing light shirts and weighed in in a sweater, so I feel okay about it.

I'd like to talk about journalling - the act of writing down what you eat. On the weeks where I do this on a consistent basis, I actually tend to lose a fair amount of weight - provided I am honest and write down everything. Journalling can give you ideas about your problem times, too, and also you can look it over briefly to make sure you're getting a reasonably balanced diet. Make sure you're getting milk, fruit and vegetables into you. Journalling is a key part of WW and they do it because it works. I have looked at my journal and realized I need to eat quite a bit for dinner, limit my dinner, have a salad, have milk because I've had none...it really helps, and I should be doing it more often. The week I lost 10 pounds I journalled every day.
Try writing down what you eat. Even this act makes you more mindful of what you eat. Also, if there is a point at which you have a lot of food - how long has it been since you had something? I don't have breakfast, so at about 4 I make a powdered breakfast and milk drink before I go home, at 5 or 6 . This keeps me from stopping at fast food restaraunts because I'm so hungry, and then a glass of water at home gives me time to think logically about dinner. That's something that my journal told me was needed - even if I managed to avoid the fast food, I came home too hungry to think about a sensible dinner. This takes the edge off.

I encourage you to write down what you eat - all of it - for at least a week and see what you learn! If someone matches me on this, I will journal in return from Sunday to the following Monday weigh in - at which point I will hopefully be back into the habit. So you won't be the only one writing everything down. Feel free to do this any way that works for you, of course. And of course we aren't doing this online!

sunday 7th Jan 07 starting weight - 125 kilos

sunday 4th Feb 07 current weight - 114kilos

hmmm ok so this week only down a kilo, fair enough really
i didnt actually do much exercise, went for a bike ride on monday but thats it
since then its been to darn hot!!! like ridiculously hot i would walk outside and burn. LOL... so kinda self justification i guess for that. but yes back on track this week if it cools off a little. i just cant walk in 40 degree heat, its not good for me nor my fair skin. im not out to get skin cancer ! LOL self justification again. going to have to find a good inside exercise i reckon... maybe skipping? hmmm will ponder more.

I have tried journaling and I just never get it all down. I inevitably leave something out. I'm glad to hear it works for those who are successful with it, though.

Some of the women at bodybuilding.com are meticulous not about journaling, but planning every bite of what they'll eat before the day even starts. Down to every calorie and if it's from fat, protein, or carb. There are sites that do a lot of the leg work for you. All you do is enter what you eat.

I was able to get over my mini-cold enough to do 32 minutes on the elliptical. I'm just waiting on the weather to start the weekend bike rides.
