The video game thread

Titans win the Superbowl. :D 20-3 over the Rams. (It was 10-3 up until there was a minute thirty left.. Then Kurt Warrner threw an INT to Tank Williams and it was ran back for a touchdown.) But as much as I want to I doubt I'll be able to win it again the next season.. I traded most of my draft picks for star vets. And I have something like five starters retiring at the end of the year.

Anyway.. I feel as though my quest to win a video game football championship is complete. :D

Saw some screenshots for PGR 2 and All Star baseball 2004 ... both games look very very sweet!!

I remember playing through a season in Madden '94. Packers won the Super Bowl with a 18-1 record. :) And since I had played through my season, the game reset my data. Remember - this is back in the days before rosters and continuing seasons, trading, etc...

So I think I speak with those who have endeavored to do so that if you've won it all - you're pride is well deserved. :D Congrats!

The one thing I love about NFL 2K3 is it really is a challenge to maintain a top level team every year... you have guys retiring, free agents to deal with.. a salary cap to work with.. every season you have some guys that really come out of no where to be star players, and some guys who you expect to play awesome are just brutal. It's really a great football sim.. maybe the best available.

How does it compare to maddan 2003?

Not sure really.. I've played Madden 2003 just a little so I couldn't make a fair comparison.

Compared to NFL Fever 2003, I'd say graphic wise Sega's game is better.. But Fever may have the most franchise features (including a better create you own team option)

You really can't go wrong either any of the three.. It just depends what kind of game play you are looking for.

Tecmo

Is "Tecmo Super Bowl" and "Tecmo Bowl" the same thing? I remember calling it the latter... but I'm pretty sure they are the same.

That has got to be one of the greatest games of all time... if not at least one of the greatest sports games. Bo Jackson, Marcus Allen, Jerry Rice... all unstoppable. Do we even need to mention the '85 Bears? Godlike.

I would try to find it and hook up my NES, but I have the typical problem that plagues almost every NES owner... the blue-screen problem where it doesn't read the cartridge. I've heard that you can buy the replacement ports... and I've seen them for sale for like $7... but I'm not sure about installing it. Anyone know if it's relatively easy, or if there's any places that do those repairs for relatively cheap?

Yours in gaming,

FJ

Yeah they were different things. Tecmo Bowl came out first. But I don't think it had a Super Bowl tournament, that was added with Tecmo Super Bowl.

I have one of those game genies. Even if you don't use a code for it as a cheat, it does provide a nice relatively new connection that seems to work better.

Other than that, clean the connectors on the games and on the NES with some rubbing alcohol and try the jiggle/blow tricks on the cartridge.

Well I just finished Ty ... I didn't realise that I was so close to the end ...

Ok I cheated a lil ... I found some codes & a FAQ. I got stuck with the 2nd to the last boss. I didn't know how to defeat him.

Gotta admit Tecmo Super Bowl is still a classic! The first game to feature in-depth stat tracking, injuries, subsitutions..

And Bo Jackson was un-freekin-stoppanble in both the original and Super Tecmo Bowl.

btw.. I'm thiking of just re-starting the franchise mode and take control of a very weak team (ie: Lions, Bengals..) Just to make it a little more interesting.

I picked up my copy of Devil May Cry 2 and I have been playing non stop since I got home. The graphics are awesome, the movement so fluid and fast. New added moves and monsters .... I am in love !!!!

So far the only single complaint I have is with camera angles. Some of them are a little funky.

13-0 for Notre Dame Baby!

Playing Texas for the 2003 National Championship(Miami lost and so did ohio) tomorrow. Texas was the only other team undefeated besides me and they are rank #1. We will see who wins tomorrow. Having a 2300+ yard heisman running back on my team helps tho. :D

Sorry, I had to do it. I've just got this hunch that I'm not the only one out there with the gaming habit. So, I'm wondering if anyone else plays them on a regular basis. And, if you do, what system, what games? Are you a Sims junkie? Role-playing addict?
Personally, Playstation 2 is my drug of choice, and rpg's are my favorite entree.
I play RPG's I'm a Final Fantasy freak. I have all the Nintendo systems except the new one, and a PS 1 and PS 2.

Hmm, the past year has been Everquest (Past 4 actually) and The Sims.

I'm in the middle of playing the Medal of Honor for PS2 and that's one damn fine game. A little confusing and hard at times, and some of the things are really hard to see, but other than that a very solid game. I just don't like the fact that they don't have any multiplayer support. I would have liked to have a couple of WWII death matches with a couple of friends.

Also when are they going to have online support for the Tekken series? I would think that a ps2 with the broadband adapter and a nice Tekken Tag server would be pretty sweet. Show those hotshots over in Japan what we can do over here. Or they could school us and show us why they got the rep they do. Either way I can't help but think that a Tekken game online would kick soooo much ass. Espically Tekken Tag.

unreal 2 is very cool ... probably the best FPS at the moment

You speaking of console or PC games? I'm a pretty long-time player of Tribes2 for the PC... and I gotta say - that game is amazing. Not only is it just awesome as a FPS, but there's so many OTHER things you can do as well (bomb enemy bases, all sorts of vehicles to pilot or passenger/shoot from, etc). No game has ever gotten me interested in so many aspects of the game, or challenged me so much to be my best. I'd consider it the best game I've ever played. I haven't played it on console games yet, and I think that not being able to enter a game with 50+ other internet players would take something away from the game...

I loved Unreal Tournament for so long... Tribes2 was the only game that could tear me away. Unreal Championship is cool, too... but in Tribes2 - you can FLY! Also - I just saw it on the shelf at Best Buy yesterday when I was shopping... and it's down to $19.99!

I can't wait to get DSL and get back into it!!!! :-D

FJ

p.s. I noticed that you specifically said 'unreal 2' and weren't necessarily referring to Unreal Tournament or Unreal Championship.... but I haven't played Unreal 2 yet, so I can't make that specific comparision. ;)

<---- loving sexy-girl's AV beyond belief.... ;-Þ"

unreal 2 is single player only ... its better graphics then UT 2003 and is just a really good single play game

the sniper rifle in it is cool :)

Xtreme Beach Volleyball certainly is a different game.

1 part volleyball sim
1 part japanese dating sim
1 part T&A

Certainly makes for a good break from the normal shoot em up games out there.

My fiance' and I are playing it together and love it. We unlocked a shower scene between Tina and Christie...good stuff ;)

I agree completely with this evaluation. I bought the game a couple days ago, and I like it. I thought it was hilarious that you can use L2 to change camera views (to look at the gals from different angles) and R2 to ZOOM IN on them... lol. The gals are hot, though, I'll give them that.

TallOne... I've played the game a few times and gotten through the 14 days more than once, with a couple different players. Does the game continue? Do I have to keep flirting w/ certain gals to unlock areas & such? I know I'm missing something, but I don't know what it is... lol

Overall a fun game, though. I don't feel my money was wasted at all. It's not the most technical-volleyball game, and I'm not asking it to be. Part of me hopes they do come out with a game like that, though... Perhaps NCAA Volleyball 2004? Hey, a guy can dream, can't he? ;)

Just got back from the mall where I picked up DOA: EBV.
Played it on the demo machine at the store for a couple minutes. The graphics are very nice, the soundtrack rocks and the girls, well the girls are, WOW! :D

I haven't had a chance to play it at home yet, but I will tonight.

Oh yeah... and the soundtrack... Yes, it is pretty damn good. I couldn't believe that they had TWO songs by "Reel Big Fish" on it! WooooHoooo! Ska isn't dead! I think the songs are:

"I want your girlfriend to be my girlfriend too"
and
"She has a girlfriend now"

Nice... And it's cool that my friend's band plays similar music... kinda rock/ska/reggae... Which makes for good gaming music for this game.

*drooling*

I got notice that DSL is now suddenly available to my area. We called Ameritech to cancel voice mail and get more info on DSL... they said if we sign up for a 1yr contract, we can get it for $29.99 a month.

HOLY CRAPOLA!!!! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! :-D :p

Although I did hear from a friend that 2 people he knows said they suddenly were available, and SBC/Ameritech even scheduled installation times/dates, but then called back to say "It was a mistake... you are not eligible... sorry". (not an exact quote). I reeeeeeeeally hope this is not the case for me...

Anyways... I'll update more when I have more information.

FJ

Step 2: Order DSL : COMPLETE!

Yes... I did it... ordered DSL for the home tonight. I'll be receiving the modem (free) and a NIC (free) early next week. The Tech will be stopping by the house later in the week (they said on the 13th) to check the box outside and it will be activated.

I CAN'T WAIT - I WANT IT NOW! lol I want it so bad I can taste it! (it's got that tingly, electronic taste... yummmy :p )

Now all I gotta do is install two phone/ethernet combo jacks and run CAT-5 to the 2nd room, install the 2nd NIC in the 2nd computer, and purchase my router/firewall and get it installed.

Did I mention - I CAN'T WAIT! ? :-D

Well if you use the same save game all the girls keep their items and the presents become more lavish. No one's quite sure how things are unlocked in this game. There have been a few dumb luck reports but nothing repeatable yet.
