There is gallons of blood to the point of being ridiculous. But you can turn them off. The thing that got me was the new Fatalities. *shudders*

Oh & that new Chinese chic .. if ti was real life, she should be falling out of her costume. Talk about juggy jiggles.

Well after a long christmas break, I'm now back and glad to say that today I finally have saved up enough cash to go out and buy myself a PS2!! Oh happy day. I'll finally be comming out of the dark (but oh so fun and kick ass) PS1 days. Glory be. Of course I'm in the middle of a freakin snowstorm so that's not good, but it won't stop me.

It's good to be back.

I'm out here, too... between working nearly EVERY day (yes, I worked even on both Christmas AND New Years, at 4:30am), dating someone new, and being obsessed with my Xbox.... I'm still out here.

I didn't get much along the gaming front for Christmas.... though my friend did buy me "Bloodwake". It's an alright game - it's good if you're in the mood for something a little different. Though I'm not sure why he bought that for me - I didn't hint at it or anything... so it was basically just a surprise.

I've been playing lots of Madden 03 lately... doing a Franchise as the Bears (naturally ).... though I'm finding it QUITE challenging. The computer AI is actually really good IMO... and I have a hell of a time making open-field tackles. Every time I try, they dodge, spin, or simply jump over me... it's frustrating, and allows the opposing team to make big plays and quick scores. Maybe I should head back to the Practice Camp and do more practice on open-field tackles.

Halo is getting better and better the more I play it. I love the story-line, it is also very challenging, and the new weapons and vehicles are getting sweet. I also like that you can take the vehicles (like the 4-wheeler, for example) inside, or anywhere it fits...

I'm also starting to get involved with Star Wars Jedi Starfighter. That has a cool story, also... and I've had to repeat MANY missions because I'd either get killed, or fail to protect my allies... practice, practice, practice!

When I first got my Xbox, I was obsessed with Sega GT 2002... if I popped it in again, I'm sure it would re-ignite that flame. I'm gonna try to work more on Madden, Halo, and Jedi before going back to it for a while... and then I'll love it all over again.

I also can't wait for DOA: Extreme Beach Volleyball. I was wondering why I hadn't seen it in the rental stores yet... 'cause it hadn't come out. *DUH* But as soon as it does - I'm gonna try it (and probably buy it soon after). Volleyball's one of my favorite sports, and I'm sure they'll do the game well.

So yeah... I'm out here... been reading as I go, just haven't had a lot of breaking news to contribute. Glad to see everyone's posts and discussions. Maybe if I get broadband internet before 2005, I'll be able to play Xbox Live... but until then, I'll just keep playing with myself.

I was thinking about picking up that game as well.. but I haven't seen any screenshots of the game that come close to compareing to your av..

The Getaway is supposed to be some competition for Vice City. It's a PS2 game. It looks pretty good.

The Getaway...looks intriguing...though it would take a lot to take GTA's crown. I saw some screenshots from Driver 3. I used to be a big fan of that franchise before GTA3 came along...I mean, who wants to pretend to be the bad guy when you actually can be?
Oh, just thought you all might be interested...EGM gave BMXXXX a bunch of 2.5 and 3's...so in other words, it just plain sucked, nudity and swearing or no nudity and swearing.

First-hand review...

I rented BMX:XXX a couple weeks ago, and actually played it. Here's my take on it:

Swearing:
This game was actually damn-funny... for a bit. Some of the phrases people say are really funny. Pedestrians (cops, bums, ho's, pimps, vendors, other bikers, and normal people) all shout things at you. As much as I'd like to, I can't remember them... but I just remember laughing at new ones every couple of minutes.

Objectives:
I first tried playing the game as 2-player, against my buddy. There is a 2-player option kinda like a "strip-off"... where you do one trick, and then if the opponent doesn't do a better trick, they lose an article of clothing (kinda like "HORSE" from Tony Hawk). The only problem was - we never saw any clothes come off the bikers. As hard as we tried (and I really kicked his ass)... we never saw them lose any clothes... so I didn't see the point.

I then took it home and tried going through the single-player game. I could finish some of the objectives (about 4 or 5 out of 20), but some of them just seemed impossible to do what it said. Other objectives didn't provide much information on what to do, or how to do it (which buttons to hit, the map of the area, etc.), and since I didn't have the book ('cause I rented it), I couldn't figure it out.

Nudity:
As I said, I didn't see much... but you could customize the characters pretty well... You could get a gal and just have little purple daisies painted over her nipples (and let her jigglies wiggle ) and put nothing else but a lace thong on her... which was nice, but it was a novelty that seemed to wear off throughout the play of the game. You become too concerned of the objectives to continue to notice it. Though there was an option to collect tokens to get into the strip club - and you see some video footage of a stripper dancing w/ a pole... which is nice, but is still PG-rated. If you collect ALL the tokens (I couldn't/didn't play the game that long), you could go back and see more of the show...

Is it a good buy? For $19, maybe... but I wouldn't pay $39+ for it.

And that's just my opinion... if you're still curious about it, go ahead and rent it and check it out for yourself. It's only a couple bucks to check it out... no harm done.

SB...where ya been? I believe that The Getaway will probably be big news for about a week or so. I don't think it will take very much of Vice City's glory. I'm only looking at it that way because Vice City is still one of our top sellers.


FJ...I agree with you. I find BMX XXX to be one of the games I often tell people to rent before they buy. Ghost Recon would be another that I tell people to rent. Especially for Xbox. When you have a choice between GhostRecon or Splinter Cell, I don't see the competition. There is NO comparison between the two. Splinter Cell is by far a more excellent game. But I will state before anyone goes by what I say....anything I say is purely my opinion.

"XIII" is a game that should be coming out soon for XBox that I am kinda interested in checking out. The story line seems cool and it's a little bit more of a unique first person shooter.

LT... my guess is because people would rather take the 3-5 secs to make that statement than to deal with any potential repercussions later.... i.e. - some guy coming back and saying "you said this was the best/worst... now i want my money back / it's because of YOU that I've missed out on so much fun." Yes, I really think people do have the balls to do shit like that... even though they know it solves nothing... they just like to pin their own losses on someone else. It's pathetic, imho... Thinking about that makes me remember a quote that I've seen posted here on Lit and elsewhere:

"Blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours shine any brighter."

I love that quote.... I find myself thinking that so often in daily life.

Aaaaaaaaaaanyways... and about "XIII"... is it a dark, mysterious kinda game? Murder/mystery? Zombies? Vampires? Or should I just go do a search for it on my own and see what I find?

Oh I know full well people will come back and say "Hey you said.."

The stories I could tell of products people have brought back.. Trying to return an obviously chewed up whistle and complaining it feel apart by itself... Returning a hat with mud on it and complaining it didn't stay white..

As for XIII ... The basic story is that you wake up with no clue who you are, how you got to where you are, why you have a flesh wound on your body.. why you are carrying certain products.. Your goal is to figure out exactly who you are, what you have to do, ect...

It's unique in that the graphics are a type of cel-shading comic style look. It should be a cool game.

First person shooter based on underground japanese comic. The unique thing about it is that it's all cel-shaded, just like Cel-Damage, for you XBoxers. The good news about that is that it's the good kind of cel-shading, like Auto Modellista due out for PS2 soon, not the gay new Legend of Zelda stuff...that way it'll look just like the comic apparently.

Jet Set Radio Future for Xbox actually had a very cool look to it but for Xbox it still could have been better, so it will be interesting to see if XIII will improve on that.

BTW, the game is based on a European comic by the same name if I remember correctly.
