The video game thread

hey Eagle70

go down to the north end hop the on the red line to the orange and fuck yourself... cause the way you said it it sounded like you had already played it... sides Diablo 2 was a good game...

Whoa, relax there killer...easy does it. No need to get all upset. and besides, if i wanna catch the red line, i'll just go to Wolloston, or North Quincy, they're both 5 minutes from my house. And why would i EVER want to take the orange line? The Red and Green lines take me wherever i need to go.

Diablo II was a good game, but like i said, i got sick of it quick...it was allright, but there really werent that many differences between that and Diablo. I liked the storyline of the original better, didnt like the whole "portal" thing of the second. There were more classes of "heroes" to pick from, but big deal. It was just a few slight tweaks on the original, thats all.

Okay...so...
Anyone ever play Red Faction? It's a pretty cool game, really fun. I got the demo for the sequel at Babbage's last time I saw Pez. I have to say that good things are coming in that game...comes out next week I think.

About time someone responded, lol, i was gettin bored...doing homework and all.

I could never get into Red Faction...i played it for a bit last year, just didnt really like it...although i hear Red Faction II is better, i might check it out. I guess the new Smackdown! game for PS2 is supposed to be good...but unless they change the whole control scheme, i'm not gonna pick it up...THQ needs to go back to the control scheme it used in No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000 on N64...it was easy, and it was like real wrestling, in a way. The smackdown games seem more like fighting games, not fun at all.

I liked Red Faction...it wasn't great, but it was fun. It had a good story, and the geo-mod stuff was great. Gotta love destructable environments. Doom3 will be borrowing from this idea as well, as well as a few other upcoming games.

Now Serious Sam....now that was a mindless shooter that was a blast to play. Those headless suicide bomber guys were funny as hell.

I hear that the new Metroid game for Gamecube is supposed to be incredible. Its first person and all, which i guess originally pushed some people away from it, but its graphically beautiful. You see everything through Seamus's visor, and its just amazing, from what i'm told. Theres a first person shooter i wouldnt mind picking up, too bad its only on Gamecube.

I honestly havent liked a first person shooter since Doom. Dunno why, just my own weird self i guess:)

I just saw an ad for Serious Sam.

On friendship: "You know who your true friends are when everyone else is dead."

I liked that quote. ;)

I was just reading where they are doing FF Tactics 2,but its for the Gameboy Advanced. I have a GBA emulator but not the real one.

I am bummed.

DOOD

*drooling*
I know! I'm going to have to buy a GBA just for that game. I loved the first tactics....going without the second is an unbearable thought.

Blasphemer!!!

There are too many to name here, but some that stand out above the rest for me are: Half-Life, Unreal, No One Lives Forever, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Forces, No One Lives Forever 2, and a few others.

They just get better and better.

Ok, ok, lemme take that back.

Quake II was the last one i liked:D

I just get so sick of them...then again, i've never played any of those games you've mentioned...but i just...i dunno, i just don't find them appealing. the whole "played one, played 'em all" mentality comes into play here.

I say give some of 'em a chance. Some of them have very compelling stories that really do draw you in. The No One Lives Forever games are especially good because they have great stories, great gizmos, great graphics, and a campy humor.

I've heard of this. It's going to be called Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. I doubt it will have a single thing to do with the original FFT.

So far, the only information available is that there are going to be at least three main characters. Marshe, the hero, and his frinds, Muse and Ritz. Muse is the obligatiory kid, while Ritz is supposedly the stereotypical FF heroine.

The setup for the game is that Muse wishes one day for the world to be more exciting, like a book titled 'FF'. Naturally, being that he is a video game character, his wish come true, and the game starts.

I migh check it out if the game ever makes it to the States and if I ever have enough money for a GBA and a copy.

I was talking to my daughter yesterday about KH and she was swooning over the fact that Sepiroth (sp?) was in it.

I've not looked to closely at it though.

I was reading in the gameinformer magazine about Clocktower 3,and how its supposed to have pedophilia in it and more.

Why would you put that in a game?

I have the first game and it sucks anyway,so I dont see me buying number 3.

Hell I'm swooning that Sephiroth is in it...and I don't even have a PS2...heh.

To be honest, there hasn't been a truly GREAT FPS since Doom, I own Quake 3 & Unreal Tourny, played Halo, Half Life, Quake 2, Quake 1, Duke Nukem and probably a few others i can't think of right now.

Doom was the only one to ever really hold my attention, and 2 player with a mate was great as it wasn't split screen (like all the other FPS' out there on consoles), plus I own at it on both PSX & PC :D.

Also, I've heard one song from Dance Dance Revolution (Butterfly) and I just know I HAVE to play that game now... the music is just so damned tempting...

Legend of Zelda

this series, with a few exceptions, just has to be the best Fantasy/RP style game EVER....(ok so its not really an RP)

I'm playing Link to the Past...

I fear that the GC game may not be so hot...i've seen it, and the animation is soooo hooky...it annoys me like crazy...

I loved link to the past on the SNES. But couldn't get into the ornicals(sp?) of time. And I don't have or want a GC so I won't be playing them anymore.

GASP! OH MY!

Ocarina of Time was one of the best.....so many puzzles/ twists/ turns...and the animation just rocked!!!

It raises an intresting question....

Is Link really destined to be with Zelda? Or Malon? Or that girl from the first gameboy game? So many women that obviously love him.... And why wouldn't they? He is handsome, strong, doesn't talk much....(ok well in the cartoon it was different...lol)

I agree,Ocarina of Time is great,I still play it.

He seems to have built up quite a harem for himself. Maybe he can have a big orgy,I mean as many times as he has saved the day,he deserves it,dont ya think?

Wow, people actully liked that game. I didn't like it at all, got to the dark world and quit playing it.

Zelda is by far the greatist series of games i have EVER played. Zelda is the one game that i bought N64 for, and if the new Zelda for Gamecube was like that, i would have bought Gamecube over PS2. but like it was said, the animation is soooooo friggin cartoon like, it just turns me off. Orcarina of Time is the only game i've beaten more than once, yet still go back to play it. God that game was so good.

And on a related note, Link should be banging the hell out of all the women. Just cause, he should get that honor, for saving the day so much.

And yes, i remember the cartoon!! Link was awesome, i can totally remember him going " Well EXCUUUUUUUSE me princess!!"

wow, I must be like the only person that didn't like Orcarina of time...lol
