The video game thread

I played a Wii today! It was really fun, a refreshing way to play a game. A friend of mine bought two the other day, with the intention of ebaying one of them...then decided today that he wants the money back so he's getting rid of them both. If only I had the cash...
Seriously, I think Nintendo had an excellent idea with this thing. Unless you have to have amazing graphics for a game to be "fun", check it out.

To bad you live to far away I've been trying to get my hands on one, but I don'twant to pay more than one is worth, least not much more you know.

heh the classic goals are hard at first but when you work out a path and a strategy they aren't as hard as they seem at first

i'm not a huge gamer but every so often i get obsessed with a game and must finish it

it's actually bugging me that i haven't finished it yet but i haven't played it in over a week ... i probably only need to finish two or three more goals on sick ... but i only have really hard/annoying ones left :(

The only video game I'm interested in right now is Mass Effect.. and it's on a system I don't have and can't afford.

Tekken 4 was shitty (like VF 4) and that's when I gave up on them.

It's all about Soul Calibur, the best fighting game out.

Agree TK4 was crap, tK5 went back to a lot of the old rules and was a major improvement, if you get the chance give it a shot.

Deus Ex was a fantastic game, Metal Gear Solid 2, Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Oblivion/Morrowind.

Hmmm....Mass Effect and Bioshock both look absolutely awesome. Did you know you can make a molotov teddy bear in Bioshock? Just the thought... :) I still have Deus Ex 2 for Xbox-it's still not backwards compatible, so I still can't finish it. And Metal Gear Solid 3 is fucking awesome. And emotional. Really, really good plot.
Has anyone seen the video for Portal? Half-life 2 engine, student project, crazy cool looking.

Would anyone here be experienced with the NWN2 toolset, and specifically know how to make simple quests? I understand most of it (making a conversation and journal entries and linking them) it's just when it comes to add a script that's baffling me. You might ask why not simply post on one of the many NWN sites. I have, but I can't seem to get any help (and the tutorials are fucking baffling). Maybe my questions are too vague or I've alienated everyone already with too many dumb questions.

All I want to do is make simple "kill it, bring it" quests. If you think you can help with that please PM me. If you live in Auckland maybe we can meet in person for a proper lesson. I'd be willing to pay.

Toodles.

splattering zombies is fun but dead rising makes me cry with the time limit ... i can't save everybody :(

still i found a cool baseball hat to wear :)

I played a Wii when I visited my daughter. It was a lot of fun and I'm thinking about getting one. The Tiger Woods golf games sounded interesting even though the graphics aren't great and it seems to play better if you don't use a golf swing.

Trying to use the NWN2 toolset? You poor bastard.

What are you having problems with? I'm betting myself a trip to the ice cream shop that I know the issue.

Is anyone beta'ing this or have any opinions about it? If you've already discussed it, please point me to the posts. This is a big thread. :)

i played it some in beta ... it's quite nice and the game engine runs very fast and smoothly and looks great on high detail ... also the way the world is set out is very close to the books ... and if you remember parts of the book you can actually navigate based on that

the actual game is very much like any other MMO and doesn't really offer anything new but does what it does well enough and as good as most other current MMOs ... if you're a huge lord of the rings fan or you're just wanting another MMO to try for a while you might like it

It's been a while, but I'm back. What's everyone playing now? I got re-obsessed with Geometry Wars. My high score is now 1.5 million. Anybody got anything higher? It'd be fun to try to top high scores. I still want to see if anyone wants to put up their gamertag or what not and play some games together. Or in pm's, whatever. And how about that Manhunt 2 deal?

My gamertag is Liontamr of course.. But I'm mostly sports games and such..

I've been going back and forth between Forza 2, TMNT and MLB 2K7... Those three games take up most of my gaming time.

I added you. No geo wars love? I can give you tips. :) I finished TMNT....hopefully you didn't buy it. I was happy just renting. I wish I loved Forza, but the demo didn't really impress me. Now Burnout Paradise....

I suck at Geo wars.. so any tips you can get would be helpful, but probably not help me much.

I did buy TMNT used.. yeah it's amazingly easy but I have two nephews that will love playing it when they come over.

Ah good call then. As for geo wars, if you accept my friends request I could probably help you while you play. So far I have all but the survive 1 million achievement. I watched some other people getting into the millions and it helped me a little. There's definitely some strategy to it.

Though I still can't get close to Sexy-girl's Tony Hawk accomplishments.

Oh yeah, has anyone tried that Band of Bugs game on XBLA? It'd kind of like a watered down FF Tactics. I'm still debating on buying it. If some of my friends had it I probably wouldn't hesitate.

I haven't tried Band Of Bugs.. I probably will sometime this weekend...

I see a lot of people playing SvsR '07. I guess I didn't know that there were that many wrestling fans out there.
