The video game thread

Kevin Smith "Daredevil: Target" comic is great, DD vs. Bullseye. Too awesome.

You Killed her.. from 200 feet away... throught the glass... With a toothpick?

I know that this is the videogame thread and not the movie thread, but I just have to say that Kevin Smith rocks. I love all five of his movies, I have the dvd sitting here where he interviews Stan Lee from the limited edition Spiderman thing to watch. He is truly a geek-rific guy.

Anyone tried Toe Jam and Earl 3?

Does anybody know if there is a turn based Warhammer video game out there for any system/platform?

Every Warhammer game I've ever played sucked big time.

Sorry Cibo.. I can't promise I won't make fun of your av either. :p

And now for something completely different

Okay, I'm going to try a roll call of sorts here. I'm asking that everyone who currently visits this thread OR has ever visited this thread to come in and say hi. I'm also asking for their IM handles so I can add them to my list, as well as anyone else that would like to. I think it'd be great to get to talk to all of you anytime I'd like to, instead of hoping to read a post or two. So, therefore, if you know of anyone who doesn't really come here anymore, tell them to get their butts in here for roll call.
My yahoo is nberkshire and my aim is VyseXIII.

Ya know I had Kartia ... but traded it in ...

I like turn based RPG, but I don't do too good on stratagy type ones. Also the reason I traded in FF Tatics.

Picking up Lunar Legends for GBA today =)

And which games might those be LT?

No freekin idea! :D

I have my list of five or six games that I'd like to get... Mortal Kombat 5 being on top of that list. Ghost Recon and MechAssult being close seconds...

And I get my new modem router on Friday, so I can finally go online!

Roll call eh? Well I don't have Yahoo or AIM but my ICQ is 14199195, with the nick Tap-Out (suprise suprise). If you don't use ICQ and still want to talk with me for any reason my e-mail is always open.

Happy holidays.

checking in...

So ppl are crackin' the whip and taking roll call...

Alright, ALRIGHT... I'm here already... Geeeeeeezz...

And now in other news:

I bought my Xbox system on Saturday. WOOOHOOO! My Best Buy replacement check came for the in-store voucher, for about $165... which made my Xbox purchase possible. As much as I would have liked to buy my system from Pez over at EB - There's no way I could have gotten as much of a deal as I did. Sorry Pez... still lub ya, though! :-x

I bought the Xbox bundle, with SegaGT 2002 and JSRF, Madden 2003, the DVD Remote kit, and I already had Halo - bought the day after Thanksgiving for $29. Sunday Best Buy ran an ad that threw in Star Wars Jedi Starfighter in, also... I went today to see if they'd honor the offer, but they were out of the game. I'll try another store tomorrow. It's kinda nice starting off owning the system with 4, soon-to-be 5 games. :D FunJohnny likey... :D

I was kinda skeptical about Halo. I've played a LOT of Tribes2 online, so I know all about similar gameplay. When I popped it in and played it, though, I gotta admit that the gameplay and storyline actually turned out to be very cool. I'm still at the beginning and learning how it goes, but I'm anxious to spend more time on it and get through it. For playing it as single-player, it's a very cool game. I can't wait to play it against some opponents.

I've been spending a lot of time playing SegaGT 2002 lately. That is just a sweet game. It is a little bit of a pain that each screen/menu has to load, but it's still tolerable. That is the only game I've seen yet that actually has -any- loading times, and even still, they're not bad. But the game is sweet, and it's really cool to be able to customize your car, and even do drag-races, Fast and the Furious-stylee. ;)

JetSetRadioFuture... I have mixed thoughts about this game. It's pretty cool as an entry/bundled game... and acceptable for all audiences, though as we all know, it's no Tony Hawk 4. There's more of a story than it is about doing tricks, and a little more "cartoony" than I prefer... but it's a nice change from the every-day game.

I haven't played much Madden 2003 yet. This is mainly because once I do, I know I'm gonna get so engrossed in it that I won't be able to play anything else, and right now, I'm just "playing the field" as far as games go.... so we'll see sometime in the next couple weeks how that goes.

I also saw that they had "Dragon's Lair 3D" out for Xbox... I can't WAIT to play that! I used to LOOOOOOOOOOVE  that in the arcade, and I can't wait to see it on Xbox! I'll be renting that before I buy it - just in case... but I have high hopes for this game.

I also want to rent "Dead or Alive: Beach Volleyball". I don't know if it's the scantily-clad bikini girls that have lots of bouncing (Ladies - that's ALWAYS a PLUS!!! ;) ), or the realism that I'm looking for, or the fact that beach volleyball is my favorite sport, and I've never really played an "awesome" beach volleyball video game. I guess it's just a mixture of the above, but I'm pretty anxious to see how this turns out and see if it will go on FunJohnny's Recommended List of Xbox Games. ;)

I also bought "Caddyshack" and "Blade" on DVD on the day after Thanksgiving... they had a sale on select movies - 2 for $20. Today, when I went to see about getting the Jedi Starfighter, I also picked up the "Made"/"Swingers" 2-DVD set, for $19.99. It's so MONEY!

Oh, and by the way.... Best Buy is selling the Xbox memory card for $29... I bought it today from GameCrazy (branch of Hollywood Video) for $19 - regular price.

That is all for now. Questions/comments welcome. (just make sure I press pause long enough to answer) ;)

FJ

p.s. Holy cow... this is a long post. Oh well - I'll get over it.

Heh heh, if you really want to AIM me, Zenith2Nadir is my tag, but I'm not on all that often.

And to FunJohnny, Halo is a fun multiplayer game. I'm not too keen on single player FPS, but multiplayer games are great. Gotta try it with infinite grenades, pure insanity.

*crickets chirping*....

This thread's been pretty quiet the last couple of days... maybe it's the "roll call" or new attendance policy that's being put into effect. As for me, I'd prefer it to be more like the movie "Summer School"... Ya got the hot girls, the goofy guy, the male dancer, the two gore-and-punk-rock guys, the little nerdy guy, and the guy who went to the bathroom on the first day, and didn't come back until the day of the exam.... hehehe. I think I'm the male dancer... (I'm not a professional yet - working on it! ;) See pic on next post ) ... which one are you?

I just got back from Best Buy a little bit ago. I went back because I bought my Xbox system & stuff on Saturday, and then on Sunday they ran the ad to get a 3rd game free (Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter).... so I took my receipt back and they honored it. Yay... yet another game, and even better - this one is free, too! ;)

I also stopped by Blockbuster Video... I rented Dragon's Lair 3D. While looking at the Xbox games, I also saw a BMX game that just had a black cover, and the title: "BMX XXX". It said "Keep it dirty." on it. Upon picking it up and checking out the back ('cause I kinda like BMX/freestyle games), the first thing I see is a topless babe with a black censor bar across her nipples, doing an endo on a flat playground. The caption read something like: "Add all the wiggles and jiggles you want - Black bar not included". So... I can only assume that this is a R-rated BMX freestyle game. I'll admit - I'm into that. :D There were also pictures of a pimp in the purple leopard leisure suit, and a picture of a nude dance club... that I guess you probably get to visit sometime while playing the game. Maybe I'll check it out later this week, or sometime next week when I take Dragon's Lair 3D back for return. ;)

So - anyone else got any input... at all? *knocks on glass* Anybody out there???

FJ

This pic is in reference to the first part of the post above... I was dancing on stage at a bar called "The Drink" in Chicago.

Is it AV-worthy? You tell me...
