The video game thread

Eurika! Pez, you should rent Fatal Frame first, I've played it and it's creepier than Silent Hill, but a lot less gross and disturbing. Definitely one to play with the lights off and the sound up.

Speaking of creepy games... has anyone played any of the Phantasmagoria games for the PC? I didn't play the first one, but I bought Phantasmagoria II: A Puzzle of Flesh a couple years ago, I think when it first came out. It got a tiny bit routine, though I thought the gameplay was cool. Every scene was cinematic (like you were IN a movie). Not only that, it was scary as hell! I used to play late at night, with the lights off... and it was creepy as shit... there was parts in it where I was hacking a computer and it was calling me "murderer" and "psycho"... I would end up having nightmares about it... but it was fun, though. I got almost to the end, but I don't think I finished it. I think I did something out-of-order, and somehow I couldn't win... I dunno. There was a pretty nice sex scene in it, too... I remembered seeing the main character's girlfriend from some of those Cinemax softcore shows late at night... she was pretty hot. ;) lol

Anyways... I don't know if I'd recommend anyone to run out and buy it, but it was an interesting and unique game to play... and it's cool to see it at least once...

They do, but if you were to tell me a year ago Sega would have over taken EA as maker of the best sports games, I would have said you were crazy.

I don't think anyone expected Sega to get so good so fast at the sports games, which explains why NFL, NBA and NHL 2K3 are all better than thier EA counterparts.

(Although Madden 2003 isn't much behind NFL 2K3.. Both are very damn good games)

I'll probably rent them both before I make a purchase. As I said - my buddy has Madden 2003... and if we both have it, it might be a little more competitive if we both have it... which is always fun.

By the way - As far as multilinking two Xboxes together, I know all you need is a crossover cable... but do you have to have 2 copies of the game - one in each system? Or will it run both Xboxes off of the one system? Also - does it use both processors & such for the same game? Does anyone know if it enhances gameplay?

anyone know anything about Age of Mythology??

its very cool one of the best games of that type ... the missions are very varied so it keeps you playing and great graphics too its one of my fav games that i've played recently ... im only about 3 missions from finishing it but i haven't had time

i wasn't all that much looking forward to star wars galaxies not that i thought it was bad but i just not interested in MMRPG's that much but having read more about it and seen the video's ... i really really want it :(

i think i'll be a dancer bounty huntress :p

ooooooo...a new game that I really really might get is Crimson Sea....*drool*

I'm thinking I'm going to need to get a new computer just so I can play Star Wars Galaxies. Age of Mythology looks really cool too...that's one of the reasons I like Rygar so much, it's based in ancient mythological Greece.:D

Well after a day of playing it, I gotta say Shenmue II rocks! It's a very cool game and now is #2 on my want list. :)

MK5 of course is still #1 :D

Told ya Shenmue 2 would kick ass!

Oh and rented Medal of Honor for the Xbox...holy shit this game kicks ass..

But trust me on this...Crimson Sea's...check it out

I just gotta say that I love your AV Arc...

And I have played buffy...couldn't beat the last level and just gave up and returned it to blockbuster. And blinks does't look like my kind of game right now. I've seen the video reviews of it and not my cup of tea.

Thankie Cibo ... I must say I luv yer Abs avatar. http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/catlove.gif ~ Mmm ... Yum

I played Buffy on easy mode & got to the Dream Realm Stage ...
thats a pain in the butt.

If Blinks is not yer cup of Tea ... Try Blood Rayne ...
Three words ... HOT Vampire CHIC!!!

Ya, that's how far I got on buffy too...couldn't jump those 3 spinning things so I just said fuck it...lol

And I've heard from a few people that Bloodrayne sucked big monkey balls, if I could be so blunt. Hot or not, if it sucks I'm not gonna play it. :p

But I do like Medal Of Honor, that's a great game. :)

Three spinning things?

If its what I think they are ... It takes timing & patience.

With Blood Rayne ... I did finish it in easy mode w/ invisiablity code for the last 3 bosses. The Twins where are pain in the butt. I had a good laugh from all the sexual induendo that was in the dialog for that boss fight. The only problems I had with the game were some of the Modern-isms that were in a few places.

You need one copy of the game per xbox, two tv's would help too!
My friends are planning a big Halo session over Christmas, two Xboxes', two rooms, two big screens and 8 players. It's like LAN without having to lug all those computers around. Fab:D

I rented BloodRayne the other night...i have some problems with the control scheme, i'll admit, but the game itself is pretty fun. Rayne is one hot hero, i gotta say. Game is tough, but we'll see, i've got it till sunday.

I keep hearing about this Rygar game, but havent read anything about it...couldnt find it at blockbuster...help me out SB.

So for christmas, heres my list...

Shinobii
Ledgends of Wrestling 2
Dead to Rights

thats all so far, i gotta find out more about this Rygar game though...

Awesome... that sounds cool as hell. I'm not sure I understand how 4 ppl would play on one TV in that type of game... I've played a LOT of "Tribes 2" for the PC in the last year, and if Halo is ANYTHING like that, I can't imagine 4 ppl playing in those huge worlds from just 1 screen... I dunno. But 2 Xboxes and 8 people sounds very cool. Some of my friends (ex-coworkers) had a LAN party this weekend - but I got something like the '24-hour flu' on Saturday afternoon, and I was out of commission until about Sunday night... sucked to be me... couldn't hold ANYTHING down. :p (lol)

I can't wait to get my in-store certificate back and go buy my Xbox! :D :D :D

Eagle ~ I don't think Rygar is out yet ... But I'll double check ...

I have tried Dead to Rights ... I don't know many people that have finished it at work. The game gets expelentally (sp?) harder as you play it.

I know next to nothing about Rygar, just what SB has told me, if anyone could fill me in, i'd be wicked thankful.

I like that idea of Dead to Rights, that it gets harder the longer you play it....i support that idea.

BTW, the Rocky video game? i dont care if it sucks, i'm still getting it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hehe I feel so special when I come home to a couple more pages of my thread. Eagle...I'm thinking you'd love Rygar. You have a shield attached to a chain for defense and offense. You get three different ones each with it's own kick ass combos. It's set in ancient mythological greece and you can lay waste to tons of the scenery. Not to mention there's not much more satisfying than hooking your diskarmor into an enemy then swinging him around to hit other enemies and finally shattering him to bits against a wall. You'd probably like the Mark of Kri too. That game rules. Action and stealth have never made you feel so bad-ass cool as in that game. I guess I just have a thing for sleeper hit action games. Not that I don't love in depth fighting and rpg and adventure games too:D Just love the occasional old-school action game I guess.

Video games....

Video games are yet another form of crack I tell you! I've got my little plastic crack (Miniatures war game called Heroclix!), My paper crack (Comic books, or any sci-fi/fantasy novel) and crack that comes on DVD's, CDs and (SHHHHHHHHH don't tell anyone!) even in downloadable format! Gah! It's a good thing I 'm married I tell you! If I wasn't I'd never have anything! All I'd spend my money on is my crack collection! :D Oh yeah, I'm playing Civ III on my computer now (great game! Taking over the world turn by turn) as well as Freedom Force! (GO SUPERHERO STEREOTYPES!) And on my playstation, I'm re-playing Final Fantasy 8, and 10, and wanting to get Wild Arms 3, Legia: Dual saga, Kingdom hearts, and Robotech Battle cry.................mmmmmmm air planes changing into mecha.....*drools* that's ALMOST as good as sex....although.....if you could get me a real Veritech I might just give up sex.........*thinks* NAH! that would be dumb.

BTW, did I mention I'm an Uber-Geek? LOL!

LOL! Uber is an awesome adjective (have I got the right grammar thing? *shrugs* never worried 'bout the types of words) And make sure you remember that I'm a geek! Not a nerd! Nerds never get laid! and they have glasses with tape on them! and they have no social skills!

I on the other hand have no glasses!

But I miss my purple john lennons that I used to wear while on the computer.....

You mean to say I'm a pair of taped glasses away from being a full fleged nerd?

Shit.. there are times I HAVE had to tape up my glasses to keep them together during a Sunday while waiting for Monday and a chance to get them repaired.

Oh well.. at any rate, welcome to Lit!
