By the bible I am presuming u mean the Christian one? Why not go the whoel way? Lets ban all versions of the Christain bible (including those in modern English for those of you who cannot understand the lovely King James English versions), why not ban the Witch's Bible the Satanic Bible, the Mormon Bible, and of course you have to ban the Torah (sp?) as well!
The books contain people words, which may or may not be inspired by a God/Gods/Goddesses. Its the people that fuck up when they read them.
Five bible's sitting on a shelve aint going to do anymore harm than 5 text books on changing a lightbulb.

Why not just ban all religions?
... and suck the soul right out every man woman and child.
I know that a small vocal number of christians hate what I have practiced and would do anything to wipeout all the other religions of the world. I know that a larger number of christians have been brainwashed to believe that anything even remotely occult in nature is tainted with evil. I guess I should hate christianity, shouldn't I?
I don't. How can I fight for the right to practice and worship as I please and limit the rights of other's with the same hand? I can't. It isn't in me to stoop to that level of hypocracy.
The people who use the Bible and the Koran, or any Holy book for that matter, to justify hatred and bigotry no longer worship god - but instead worship the words on a page. This is idolotry; the idol is merely made of paper instead of stone.
Holy Books are holy because we use them to inspire ourselves, not because they are the "Words of God." These books were written by men who genuinely felt the presence of the divine and sought to communcate what they felt to others... The bigots who twists the words of the prophets of any religion have all cut themselves off from the inspirational aspect of these texts and have turned to a completely literal interpetation, throwing the spiritual into the mire of man's "logic."
If you want to combat the fundementalist bullshit, then try showing people *this* truth and lead them towards understanding God (The Goddess/The Gods/The Tao/The Divine/Whatever) as being more then the book. What you are suggesting just puts you in the same handbasket with them, in my opinion.

The best long answer I think came from Black_bird. Very well presented, as well as just plain GOOD. If everyone thought that way, this world would be a much more pleasant place.

Maybe its because I have both books on my shelf right now,
or maybe it's because my best friend happens to be a True Christian, or perhaps its because I've been uninvited to my Family's Holiday get-together for the second year in a row by my grandparents as a result of my faith, but I just can't stop steaming over this!
