The Shaman's Cave

Shamanism is the ancient way of connecting with body, earth and spirit.
My teachers told me that i couldn't just be here, play and have fun. that i had to make a place available if people wanted help or learning or had questions in many areas.
so if you have comments, questions or whatever about shamans, medicine, dreaming, stalking, mind, power tools, power animals...whatever
come on by and frop a line
if no one drops by, that's ok too.
i was just told to make this thread available. perhaps i will know why later
HEY!
hiya clear!!! it's nice to see you in here... i've only touched the beauty of shamanism... i do know the siberian tiger is my power animal and he helps me throughout the day and night...i'm also clairaudient.

SecretLove,

Perhaps I may be able to help? :) A "power tool" is often an object, say a wand, or a staff (like a walking stick).Sometimes it is a stone. You will indeed know it when it makes itself known to you. :) I have a staff that I've decorated with stones on my life's path, feathers that have been "gifted" to me by our avian friends, etc....I've had this staff for over 3 years. It "fits" me perfectly. I also have one other tool, but that is used for other purposes such as with healing.

How close are you with nature? If you are out in nature keep a sharp eye for an object that calls to you. :)

could a power tool be a pendant you wear around your neck?

hi red
thanks for stopping in....wow this thread is staring to grow. who knew?

a power tool is simply an object that has been strengthened by your power, or that of another shaman. usually it is something like a staff or cyrstal or blanket...but it can be anything

a shirt, a golf ball, or stapler could in fact be a power tool, just there would be few uses for a power tool stapler, and more say for power tool pendant that protects your physical body
and its never "the object" it is your own power that the object reflects for you :D

Your quite welcome. Yes this thread is very interesting indeed.

I think "travels" is a good key word for me. Traveling and searching, what for I'm not sure. But like grandma said, "it's not the answer, it's the search".

Yes, I am a traveler...a seeker...and it is the search I believe that brings us the growth. When an answer comes...in order to stay "alive"...we must start a new search...that is the process of generating our energies to me! :)

You are indeed correct, Poppy. Our energies regenerate. :)

I'm just the Shepherd. Watching over all.

EXERCISE 1- THE STAIRS

hi ho all
well with a new moon and thewinter solstice a few days away (real new years, when the "sun" of light is born from the darkness...the shortest day of the year, and crowned the new sun or new king of light....anyhoo)

with that in mind i thought an exercise would be in order
and this one starts small, really small. mind wants tough exercises, but try the small one first. they won't be as easy as they seem
its an awareness exercise to help get one to move beyond the normal "habitually" thinking of the mind and attune you to a more observant and relaxed manner
this is known as the stairs exercise
find the one set of stairs you use most in a day (thus either in your home or place of work) the exercies is that every time you use this particular set of stairs (going up or down) you must walk in a calm and relaxed manner. no running. no discordandt thoughts, no habitual thoughts, no thinking about tv, your ex you hate, that thing that has to get done, how much you don't like yoruself....
you want a peacful relaxed state of mind and body
the trick is that if you go up or down and find you were not in this state. you must go back and walk the stairs again until you are in this state. when i was doing this a few times, i got to the end of the block before "shit, my mind was not there, so i walked back, down my stairs so i could walk up them properly."

this is simple to do, requires nothing other than a commitment to do so...
and it will give you an example of how much of a mess yuor mind is most of the day.
as you get better with doing this, see how long this state may last after. or if you went into the stairs upset, forced your slef to be calm for teh walk, did you go instantly back to upset or did you keep this calm state and what was bothering you sort of went away

commit to do this for at least two weeks and check your progress. i guarantee you will begin to observe your mind in a whole new way, and likley begin to observe your surroundings in a whole new way

good luck

thank you for that. amazing....

hi radio
i'm not sure there are "forms"...all forms are at their heart the same thing
now there are many aspects or atributes that often those following shamanic practice become an expert in one or the other.
castaneda popularsed names (stalking and dreaming) as aspects...but they are his words not necesarily what any shaman in africa or brazil or even mexico would use

and since i've worked with teachers of many traditions i can't say i have a "form" but i can instantly see their similarity
thus i guess as long as one's "form" is about helping the earth and the many manifested beings that live in the dreamstate- then that "form" is welcome here :D

Thanks clearlight! This helps to refocus my mind...I walk two sets regularly... and such an excercise is worthwhile!

well they don't have a sage or tobbaco button,
so a rose is the closest choice available

Perhaps form was the wrong word. Perhaps Genre?

As in, Native American, Celtic, Asian shamanism?

Sorry I was nonspecific.

no i know what you meant
and i've been exposed to them all: main focus though native american and asian.... :)

I've seen the wolf. Where there were supposedly no living wolves. Even though he showed himself to me, I don't believe he's my animal at the time. He had no interest in me at all, other than a greeting. Then he was off to follow his dinner.

That was 20 years ago now. I can rememeber it like it was yesterday. I was alone in the woods, and should have been scared to death. Instead I felt almost on the same level as I was out hunting as well. I stopped and watched him, he stopped and watched me. then we both turned and went our own ways.

The same has happened with a bear. We looked into each others eyes for at least 30 seconds, then turned and went a different direction.

Both could have tore me to shreads in a blink of an eye. But there was no hostility, no fear, no anger, only an ackowlegment of each others being.

Good evening folks. Just felt like sharing this since it was on my brain today.

Countrygent,

Both wolf and bear are very strong power animals and each has their own strengths and weakenesses. Wolf is teacher and protector. Bear is strength. When the two meet clashes are monumental. How wonderful that you were gifted in being able to see them. They let you know that they are around. :)
