The inflate-a-secretary is talking to the AOL script-kiddie voting bot again. There are fewer talking inanimate objects in Disney films than in scouries' delusional little world.

What's sad is that even after pumping it up to 1000 votes, he still can't get the score up to 4.5 :p

Can you say Epic Fail, boys and girls? :D

But don't you know that it doesn't matter that he hasn't hit the 4.5 mark? It's the number of votes that count, at least that's what he told me. When he bragged about his one story that had 11,000 + votes, I pointed out that it still wasn't at 4.5 and he told me that my measly little 25 - 30 votes on my stories (which I have WAY more than that on most of them if it's any of his damn business) don't mean anything even though a majority of my stories are above 4.5.

I told him to do the math and that even with 11,000 + votes, most people that are voting are only giving him 4's on average, and even the 11,000 votes are a small percentage of his so called 900,000 + readers. But he'll come in here with his delusions of grandeur and tell us it's the number of votes and people reading that counts. Yeah, okay. Whatever.

On average, even those of us with lower vote counts and reads are getting better scores. That's the plain and simple truth.

Sheri...the delusionmaster really isn't worth troubling yourself over. Everytime another publisher writes me and accepts one of the manuscripts I've sent, where they are actually publishing and sending me a real paycheck, I take a look at this little thread and chuckle. Let him have his delusions, be the smarter person and back away from the rabid...I mean strange man.

thousands cried!!!!!!!

It was strange to come back after a weekend away and find them gone.

They hadn’t been my favorites of course so it shouldn’t have been such a big deal. And you can find most of them elsewhere….

Still, looking at the list this morning the hole was obvious. I feel like I’ve killed someone. Hell, I killed a whole gang of my characters. People I created. What’d they ever do to me? I even loved some of them. Really!

I’ve made love to them. They’ve made love to me.

I suggested a while ago that thousands would cry… well I did…

:rose: R.I.P. my friends :rose:….

And now I’ve got more to do… and these ones are even harder to contemplate.

The life of a best selling author isn't as easy as it may seem from the outside...

You haven't made enough money from your "manuscripts" to even pay for your endless supply of PMS products.

Yours truly,
Shitting_Bull (a real fucking Indian)

PS (not BS): But if you wrote as good as you stalk people, you'd have your best seller.

I looked today at the “Favoritest Authors” list for the first time in a while. And except for Dani who’s been rocketing upward there hasn’t been much change in the order of the top fifteen over the last month or so. Nor have there been any new additions lately.

The good news is that yours truly was named “FAVORITEST” for the 400th time when I wasn’t looking (thank you very much whoever you are). Just under a year ago (prior to MANU’S changes) I was only the “FAVORITEST” of 60 people. So thank you too MANU!

Here is the list. One thing to note is that it’s split almost evenly between two quite different groups. It’s quite interesting to see two such disparate groups share the honors. Two groups that appeal to totally different audiences.

The first is the “Romance-SciFi-NonHuman” middle aged, bi, female coalition. Led by Miss Kitt, it includes her sister Dani, Goldenangel, wishfulthinking, secretme and brightlyiburn. Although this group attracts significantly less readers than the second group, those that do read their works are generally members of LITEROTICA and fanatically devoted to their favorites. There is also a very high correlation between the lists of these fans. For example, someone who has made secretme a ‘favoritest’ has something like a ninety per cent chance that she’s also made dani and brightly a “favoritest”.

The second group are what I call the true “Best Sellers”, those that appear regularly on the MOST READ list and on the 1000+ VOTE CLUB list. Led by Slickman and rgjohn it also includes sarahhh, TryAnything, youbadboy and scouries. Outside of the lovely sarahhh all are male, all are true writing giants, and each has developed a large readership of his own. There is much less correlation between the lists of people who have named them ‘favoritest’. They’re perhaps less loved by the “in crowd Literanzi”, instead their places on the list were derived from the popularity of their work.

250 Favoritest Authors

• Selena_Kitt (895)
• Goldeniangel (822)
• Slickman (670)
• sarahhh (637)
• rgjohn (564)
• Daniellekitten (562)
• TryAnything (549)
• wishfulthinking (505)
• BarondeSade (485)
• youbadboy (462)
• bluedragonauthor (441)
• secretme (430) F
• brightlyiburn (423)
scouries (403)
• Colleen Thomas (376)

So, what can we learn from the above? Quite simply it’s that there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

Which is sorta interesting. ….

Can’t we fix this MANU?

Poor Oblimo

Last week I started to write a post about the top rated story list. I was going to use a story an author named Oblima had written to make my point. Called “It’s Always Time”, this 18 chapter Non-Human category story had six of its chapters listed among the TOP 100 All-Time highest rated stories on the site. Which I thought was stupid!

Please note that I had nothing against mr. oblimo. I could just as easily have picked three or four other author/story combinations to highlight this problem.

Anyway, by chance I copied down and saved the ratings on all 18 chapters. Today, when I got back to this potential post I quickly checked to see that the story was still everywhere on the list. IT WASN’T! In fact only one chapter still remains on the list. Below are the scores this story had last week and then the scores they had today when I looked.

I gotta tell ya, somebody doesn’t like our boy oblimo. And while I’m not a great fan of these Non-human category stories it almost breaks my heart to see how somebody (somebodies?) has fucked this guy.

So who’s the prick?

Not something focused on Oblimo. Any story in the top half of the top votes list is going to get bombed down regularly by the not-so-nice element of Literotica. I have one that's in the top 10 on that list three days a week and not even on the first page four days a week. You, yourself, have pointed to the story in a failed attempt to embarrass me--obviously not having realized that I've pointed to it myself in amusement before. My top 10 story is just a review from a bygone Lit. contest. No reason it should be on a top anything list, but it's there with 10 solid (according to the Web site) 5 votes. Three times a week a zapper, obviously only zapping it because it's in the top 10, bombs it down the list. And the next day the Lit. system strips the bomb and returns it to the top 10 list.

Yes, a case of "why bother" for both the troll and the Web site. But it just goes on and on.

I've had several others in other categories that sit at or near the top for several days and then religiously get "1" bombed, and although that's usually stripped, over time, someone thinks of a way to move them down the list. I guess if you ever had any stories near the top of the top voted list, you would have noticed this regular cycle yourself.

I see something similar with my winning "How To". It has yoyoed up and down the toplist since winning. Today (I just looked, specially for you) it sits at #40. It's been as high as 11 and as low as the second page. During the contest it was #1 for a couple of hours.

I assume once the Naked Day contest begins and the How To is no longer in the main index, this will calm down.

pilot QUOTE I guess if you ever had any stories near the top of the top voted list, you would have noticed this regular cycle yourself.

That seems like another attempt at a cheap shot my friend. C’mon, you don’t have to stoop into the muck like this.

However you blew your insult by mistyping (although maybe you were so ashamed of doing it that your subconscious rebelled) – I’m quite familiar with the TOP VOTED LIST since I do have the #1 vote receiving story in site history. And as it happens it’s a much tougher list to fuck up!

As to oblimo the interesting thing is that almost all the chapters were hit – even those that started the exercise at 4.68 (went to 4.50) or 4.38 (went to 4.14) or 4.64 (went to 4.33). It bespeaks a real meanness, even a personal hate, that seems to go far beyond mere bombing a top story so yours will rise.

I don’t read many threads of which I’m not THREADMASTER but I did glance at the following one today.

Threadmaster Tarakin http://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?t=594470

I don’t know mr tarakin nor have I read his works but I must say I’m impressed with his “vote begging” ability.

In the past these kinds of demands had been posted on the “Themed Contest” support threads of mr ogg. Although I did notice recently that a couple of our lovely AH ladies branched out in their begging by daring to go (and successfully it would seem) to GB land for votes. Good for them!

But if I read this thread correctly mr. tarakin has surpassed (in percentage terms anyway) any previous recorded result for begging efficiency. At least seventeen AHers (see list) seemed to have admitted voting for the story and poem in question, propelling our deserving author into H land.

Given the poem only had 8 votes to start this means that our discerning AHland “5” voters have more than tripled tarakins vote total in one fell swoop.

But will mr tarakins success in this venture lead every AHer to starting their own thread? Will every 3 and 5 and 7 vote story by an author from AH land suddenly sprout a vote begging thread? Will H’s again reign supreme?

Mind you MANU could stop this folly by just following my advice and not list any story on a top rated list or give any story an H unless it had 100 votes.

You assume much, Mr Scouries. Just because 17 people said they would read and vote doesn't mean they did. Nor does it mean that those who did vote gave a 5.

Actually, I read and voted on the story, not the poem. Another case of things not always being what they seem.

Naw, I didn't mistype. I see voted as ratings, not the sort of vote volumes that you generate through your machines for yourself.

And that wasn't a cheap shot--that was one of those "facts" that you like to pick out and produce in isolation. If you ever had any experience with the top stories ratings, you wouldn't have posted your "why is this?" question in the first place. Shows you just don't have any reason to know what's obvious to those of us who get stories up to the top of that list :D

You can generate reads and votes by the thousands--you just can't seem to generate enough to offset the real readers who read your stories and decide they don't like them--and vote accordingly.

Ah, no response from Mr. Scouries. But it's quite understandable, since the site's official "Reader Voting" toplist doesn't list a single story of his in the top 500, flying in the face of all the contortions he goes through to "show" he's the "bestest" writer on Literotica. The headscratcher is why he brought up the list at all.

The last time I looked, out of curiosity, he only had one that even managed to break the top 500 incest stories near the end of the list -- with a story having far fewer votes than his 'best sellers'.

One would think he could at least crack his preferred category with some marginal degree of regularity.

Strange, that... ;)

Not that list, of course. I named the list explicitly--READER VOTING (a list that you obviously haven't been able to manipulate). Methinks you sputter too much over the obvious disconnect in what you claim/scheme (and claim/scheme and claim/scheme) and what you actually produce--which isn't really worth all that much effort, I must confess, having had to read one of yours for a contest review (wanting very much to be able to say it was good but being absolutely appalled with the rambling mess you entered in the contest--and note that I almost never on this board have commented negatively on someone's writing effort).

As I've suggested before, I think you should drop the cartoon character persona--it's not doing you any good, because you've run it into the ground--and start all over with yet another persona--and maybe spend as much time on the development/presentation of your stories as you do on the ridiculously over-the-top promotion of them.

Just a thought (and not nearly as ill meant as you will take it).

Well my good man maybe we should just leave it to the readers to decide.

But doesn’t it seem strange that I’m one of the few who isn’t afraid to publish his numbers.

…One who has argued for complete transparency of all LITEROTICA numbers.
…One who has repeatedly asked to have “view” defined by the site owners.
…One who has asked to have a “legitimate” vote defined and what constitutes a “sweepable” vote.
…One who has asked our owners to publish accurate contest results at the end of every contest.
…One who has defended our readers right to vote and make anonymous comments.
…One who believes every story on LITEROTICA is “overrated”

The bottom line is simple: For whatever reason readers like my stories. I know this is difficult for you to acknowledge – too bad. Every month they decide in my favor…not yours.

May I suggest that you yourself concentrate on producing stories that will attract readers? Up to now your elitism seems to have prevented you from forming a bond with the thousands and thousands of people who flock to the site every day. Your continuing need to dazzle a few AHers with your brilliance seems to have become your priority. Instead of writing something someone might want to read.

You can try to become a writer or you can continue down the road you’re traveling now – the road to becoming an old, fussbudget, know-it-all critic who’s completely out of touch with the reading public - your choice.

Me, I think I’ll continue to write best sellers.

Jim

Trumped up numbers. And I've asked you before....why do we care?

…One who has argued for complete transparency of all LITEROTICA numbers.

I personally don't give a shit about your numbers and I certainly don't think it's any of your business what mine or anyone else's are. Since you seem to be the only one requesting this, my guess is it's because your ego is more inflated than your blow-up doll, Gabby.

…One who has repeatedly asked to have “view” defined by the site owners.

It's pretty simple really, if someone clicks on a story link, that's a view. It works that way on most websites. Views does not mean reads, there's a difference, just in case you weren't aware of that.

…One who has asked to have a “legitimate” vote defined and what constitutes a “sweepable” vote.

I hate to say I agree with you on this. The voting system leaves a lot of questions unanswered and a lot of frustrated authors and/or readers.

…One who has asked our owners to publish accurate contest results at the end of every contest.

More backwards scouries logic. Any contest I've ever participated in, be it here or elsewhere (yes, even offine) the rules are read/posted BEFORE the contest. What's the point in posting them after??

"And our winner is....oh, before I announce our winner, let me tell you the rules of the contest again...."

Yeah, that makes sense.

…One who has defended our readers right to vote and make anonymous comments.

I think most authors can agree with me on this. The only anonymous comments and feedback I don't like are those who are mean just for the sake of being mean. I have quite a few readers who post anonymous comments or send anonymous emails.

...One who believes every story on LITEROTICA is “overrated”

So that includes YOURS, Mr. Scouries. If EVERY story on Literotica is overrated, you must not fail to include yourself in that.

Me, I think I’ll continue to write best sellers.

Don't strain a muscle counting out your pennies. Maybe you can have Gabby the wonder skank help.
