Welcome to The Official Author's Hangout Summer Lovin' Contest Support Thread.

Thanks to all of you who replied to my comment

I did want to point out that, in my quest to cover as many categories as I could (and I'm not going to enter the Survivor contest, because it makes my head spin) I have a story in mind that no doubt will have to go in the "gay male" category.

Based on what little I've seen, I expect to be roundly thrashed for doing so.

And you know what?

C'est l'art. N'est-ce pas?

Every body loves a good thrashing once in awhile.
Well at least I do.:D

Nope.

Majority of gay male authors and readers are female, no doubt.

Might be true of lesbian, but there you can get thrashed because misogyny defense is more attuned and developed than misandry defense.

It's amazed me how little thrashing goes on in the Lesbian category, relative to the flogging-round-the-fleet that is endemic in LW. About GM I know too little to comment.

It may be that the ladies who read in the Lesbian genre don't bother voting or commenting on a story if they suspect it's a male author talking through whatever orifice, and just stop reading. I've written in that genre, and copy edited for ladies who write in that genre, and while my writing hasn't drawn loud cheers, to say nothing of red "H"s, I haven't been the target of offensive remarks.

I'm stuck!

Got the beginning done.

I know how it will end.

But the middle, rewrote it a couple of times

I guess I should get back to it.

Getting near that time, writers. Get the stories into final form, as near as possible, saddle up and trot down to the starting gate.

And best of luck to all who enter.

Warning- I threatened Darkniciad via e-mail that if he doesn't do a leaderboard at the end of the contest, I will, replete with errors and misjudgments.

Come back, Dark!

Hmmm. I'm having serious doubts about whether I can get my story finished. Hmmm. Ah well. These things happen.

It's covered, estragon. Sun_sea_sky even figured out how to automate it, I think.

I'm ready. I have a daily summary in mind, plus a leaderboard for when it's over. I don't want to influence the results, but think it is nice to know, roughly, what is happening.

Yes you did. I have something similar to that, don't have the swept count yet because I really need the raw data to get it right. That can be done a few days into the competition.
