Also, the results are sometimes delayed an extra day for whatever reason, so be prepared for that. But it's usually only one day.

Contest analysis

Good evening. Another reality tells me that there are 97 stories in the competition to date, with an average score of 4.21 from an average of 308 votes. Stories had an average of 27,059 views, an average of 10 favorites, and an average of 10 comments. The average ratio of votes to views is 1.22%. The average number of pages is 3.0, with the longest story being 24 pages.

So far there have been a total of 29,927 votes, 2,624,792 views, 1,033 favorites and 996 comments.

The standard deviation of scores (from the average of 4.21) is 0.49 and the standard deviation of votes (from the average of 308) is 396. The median score is 4.32, the median number of votes is 170 and the median number of pages is 2. The top 25% of scores are 4.61 or above and the bottom 25% of scores are 3.95 or below.

Sweeps

Some votes have been reduced (swept) since the start of the competition. A total of 6 stories have had their votes adjusted, with 4 sweeps resulting in a new score that day which is higher than before and 1 sweep resulting in a new score that day which is lower. One can go out and act on any other fetish here (except rape) and enjoy it, but incest is still truly taboo.

No kidding. I can't believe the disparity in my own two stories alone. The incest story has twice the votes and 5 times the reads as the Romance story. And it's not because it's better. Pretty crazy.

I always get hammered by the sweeps, should be interesting to see what happens to that one.

Yeah, I check the incest 30 day list, your story is off the charts.

I have no where near the stories you do, but have enough to know incest spoils you.

I posted a fetish story in the winter contest and I think it had maybe 140 votes come the final sweep.

And I know silkstocking lover has said in the last few contests that she loses a ridiculous number of votes. Maybe they vote multiple times.

I'm curious to see what mine does, its got more votes than any story I've previously released.

Interesting Stats

It's interesting to see the statistics. I see that incest stories get the most hits by a landslide. I am currently grappling with an incest series so this comes as a surprise to me. Of course we should write we like-regardless of the stats but they do add an extra component to being clued into what the public likes.

lovecraft, I think I said much the same thing in a private conversation with a reader. We come here for something a little bit naughtier than we get in real life. For the greatest number of people, the common thing we can't just go out and try -- and quite probably never would consider going out to try -- is incest.

I know I have no interest "that way" in any of my family members, but you know what? I really enjoy writing the incest ones.

I have seen the thought expressed before that the attraction of incest is not that you (the reader) would want to assault a member of your own family (particularly a younger one like a son or daughter) which would be wrong on a number of levels, but more like a fantasy that, in your youth, you might have been the target of it.

So you might dream, for example, that when you were young your hot sister (or hot mom if that is your fantasy) would try to seduce you. Of course the female version would involve the hot brother or hot father.

I think the fantasy works because there is no way a stranger is going to somehow get into your house and into your bed at night, but a member of the family might. And in this fantasy world the scenario can be repeated every night, whereas your parents might look askance at some member of the opposite sex emerging from your bedroom, every morning.

That must be it for some folks. Not for me in the least. Never ever thought of a close family member that way. But I can accept that it must be arousing to some. And it's not that I'm particularly squeamish about anything (other than water sports and scatological stuff). I've had age fantasies--with me underage--but that didn't come close to happening. I acted out fantasies of being dominated by older (but in good shape) men, but since that didn't even start until I was 28, it hardly was an underage issue.

I do write some incest, but it's usually where one or both of them don't know they are related--or it's a step situation, which I don't think of as incest at all. To me, incest, needs to have the biological element or it must be parents taking advantage of not-yet-pyschologically-developed children. If they are both of age, what the hell, unless there's some clinical mental deficiency involved.

I submitted a story several days ago, and it was rejected because I had the wrong kind of code inserted; I edited it, and resubmitted it. It has been "pending" since I resubmitted it.

Well, now it's past midnight on September 7th, and it's still pending. May I assume that it will not be posted in the contest at all? *grumble, grumble, grumble...
