The Official Authors' Hangout National Nude Day 2015 Contest Support Thread

Since we are writing erotica....

And a great percentage of readers are reading to get off why don't we just have a did you cum voting scenario. Who ever has the highest percentage of yes votes out of reads wins. Of course a minimum amount of reads would need to be set, something high enough to wash out groups and sabotage. 500 or so, that should be pretty doable, I had 90,000 on my first entry so 1000 would probably be safe even.

To encourage readers to hit the button they could be entered into a raffle to win some swag and only reads that were paired with a vote would weigh in the percentage.

This contest, the way it is set up, causes a lot of dissention and conflict, as is made clear by the bitter taste in the mouths of many of those who have entered. I do not at all agree with the way it is arranged and will not be entering again because it cheapens my experience here and leaves me feeling jaded. Had I not gotten an overwhelmingly positive response from readers and such great comments I would be finding somewhere else to post my stories. There are far to many unhappy people for the site owners to not change something and still have enough of my respect to help them make a profit.

I don't think I should have won or placed and am happy for those that did. My complaint is simply about the randomness and lack of effort put into giving site contributors a decent contest. We spend countless hours and effort to fill the site with income generating content, the least the profiteers could do is give us something that's not inherently broken.

And, there it is.

Anything that's based upon an internet poll, no matter how it's weighed, is inherently broken. No matter how much or how often it's tweaked, a significant number of people aren't going to be happy, and it's still going to be subject to manipulation.

The last post provided reasoning, and wasn't slighting anyone. This one says:

I'm happy you "won" this little lottery drawing with whatever you entered. It could have been pages copied from the phone book or restaurant menus for all it mattered, but good for you!

Compared with the number of people who voted, left comments, or just viewed the stories, those of us posting on this thread are a tiny minority.

We may be representative of those who entered the contest, but in the wider readership of Literotica we are what? 0.001% of the total?

I still think that the positives of entering a themed contest in more responses, more reads, more attention to all of our work, far outweigh the negatives of dubious results.

BUT - whoever wins or is placed, however that happens, every story that gets a W is worth reading. Compare the contest entries with an average day's New List. Almost all of the contest entries are consistently better than the bulk of a day's new stories.

I agree, Og. I read stories here for years before I submitted one. I always went to the theme contest entries first.

Cheers, by the way. Hope you do like it when you get round to it. I'm checking out your Morgana story at the mome and quite enjoying. :D

I'll be sure to let you know! Thanks for checking out Fay Lines. It was fun to write but didn't get much love, here. :)
