The Official Author's Hangout Halloween Contest Support Thread

Absolutely! I'm so happy to be here and overwhelmed and honored by the feedback we've received already.

I actually credit Literotica with getting me my first, real writing position on writing this sort of stuff. Received an email only two days ago with a small offer. I wish there was a good way to thank everyone who made that possible, i suppose writing as much as possible will have to do ^^.

Good luck with your story! Will definitely give it a read when it's done :).

our tiger girl is starting to panic?

The following is post # 1022 on the a.i.r. contest support thread. He also posted exactly the same thing in posts #1001, 1004, 1008, 1010, 1012 and 1015. The same post SEVEN times on the same page? He's now up to 220 times posting the same thing (unless I’ve missed a few). Mind you this isn't a record for him.

are these three racist enablers?

Why would our tiger lily threadmistress stand with the hate-mongerers? Simple jealousy? I guess the a.i.r. thread has been making hers look bad...

post #1022 on the A.I.R. Contest Support Thread. Let's all look at our AHland racists posts. We're prepared to expose him for what he is...sad really...

Okay, I suppose this is where experience steps in to help out. Word of advice from someone who has been on the site longer than the 2 of you, beware of offers. Many people on this forum will testify to being inundated by scams.

If you receive an email offer for publishing, put the name as a thread here and ask if anyone has heard of them. Look up their website (not having one should automatically ring alarm bells). Sorry to rain in on your parade.

I second Rascasse's warning. Please carefully investigate whoever sent you this email. Check their websites, Google them for any info or complaints, ask here to see if anyone's heard of them -- anything you can do to check it out and protect yourself.

No worries - this is an offer from someone who lives in the same country i do. I've already confirmed via phone and received the paperwork. Thankfully, my father is a lawyer. And it's not a massive, monolithic contract of a book - it's a small job :), and an upfront payment has already been confirmed.

Thanks for the advice though!

We try to protect our own around here.

Good luck in the contest and with the new writing endeavor.

Disclaimer

Because of the way this site works these figures will not be totally up-to-date. For a given story the score shown on:

  • The category page
  • The author's page
  • The toplists page

can all be different.

Also it appears that various pages update at different times of the day, sometimes quite infrequently.

Please do not PM me asking for more detailed information. I do not wish to skew contest results by giving a target for voting manipulation.

somewhat disturbed by page three of Hawthorn manor.

And that's coming from me.

Gonna go edit my second story some more. My want to read turned sour a bit.

Yes, I know. The figures come from different parts of the site, and the votes count is the slowest to update. I also get the score from the author's page which updates more frequently, so it is possible to have a score but not a vote.

I hope to submit within a week, although my story is very unusual. I have no idea how it'll do... But I had fun writing it.

Please forgive me for being ignorant sun_sea_sky (you might as well join the rest of the group), but what is hotness by category?

I would assume it's the percentage of stories in each category that have a score at or above 4.50.

Threw my hat into the ring for the first time with a quirky Zombie Sex Comedy.

Here's the link (no gross stuff I promise):

So I Fucked a Zombie, So What?

Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks to MSTarot for the positive feedback. And good luck to all the other authors in the contest.

Decent results so far.

Low number of reads (no surprise, syrupy sweet romance) at around 4100, good number of votes, 260+, decent score, 12 comments. Not a bad start - should be interesting to see what happens when it falls off the front of the New Stories list.

Purposely added some weird kink - the story was too damn sweet otherwise. I'm certain the last 1/2 page will alienate more than a few. I'll take the hit on the score since I'm not eligible. :D

My seconds story is almost done, but at over 20 pages, I don't expect to have nearly as many reads. Add in that's it's a LW story, and I could be taking a beat-down.

Read about 1/2 of the stories posted, there's half-a-dozen really good ones in there. Little disturbed how much I enjoyed LaRascasse's entry, not usually my cup of tea. Also SaucyEroticProductions' A Halloween Mishap, but I would have enjoyed more involvement with the 'ghost'. Still, a nice read.

Looking forward to reading the rest, especially the regulars, who I mostly avoided last night, although I should be writing and editing.

I'm still chuckling. There is a movie called 'Dead Heads' that is very similar to your story. I kept picturing the Zombie called Cheese's facial expressions while I was reading it. Oh my god, I was about in tears.

Brandie69 is correct. Take Exhibitionist & Voyeur for example. When I did the stats it had one story in that category. Since the average score for that category was 4.71 we can assume that story got 4.71. Therefore 100% of the stories in Exhibitionist & Voyeur are considered hot. Mind you, that doesn't take into account the minimum of 10 votes it really needs, so it is a bit dubious at this stage.

It's early days a bit right now. Things will no doubt adjust over the next few days.

I'm FINALLY writing the last scene of my story, but it's 5 am and I have been writing for about 3 hours straight. I think it's time to go to bed and let this last scene sink in and finish it when I get up. I'm hoping to have it in by the weekend.

I have to say, during my brief breaks I have been reading some of the entries and BRAVO! There is some truly great stuff in this contest. I hope my entry is a worthy addition.

Yes scouries, I'm sure you would. So just sit there and wait.
