The Official Author's Hangout 2016 April Fool's Day Contest Support Thread

I'm working hard and fast for stories. Might have 6 when it's over. None of them feature "april fool's" but a misunderstanding which sets things in motions.

I've got a brother/sister story for next Wednesday.

btw, this comment in the official thread looked pretty interesting

All contest stories must be submitted via our online form. If you are a WebTV user or have difficulty with the form, follow the instructions

I didn't realize people were submitting stories like that. But it would be pretty interesting to read erotic stories on the tv. I guess that could be the thing of the future.

Actually Web TV has been around forever and I think was sort of the poor man's internet. It was big in the south at one point. When I see the web tv comment in the contest post I just think its been that long since they updated it:eek:

WebTV became MSNTv in 2001, then Microsoft shut it entirely down in 2013. So, yeah, like a *few* other things here, it hasn't been updated in a while.

Only a couple of days until the START of submissions for this contest.

If your story isn't finished, you still have time before the END of submissions.

starts: March 01
closes: March 21

If you haven't started your story? Get writing!

Don't forget to include the special contest note in the Notes box.

Just finished one of mine, hoping a second will come to fruition in time!

I may actually finally finish a story.

I had one character call another a "stupid fool," so hey

I have submitted my two completed stories to the contest today.

I ought to finish at least one of the others but off-line life may get in the way today.

I may miss this one. Good luck Og and all you other writers who submit a story. I'm rooting for you.

I've submitted one. I'd all but given up on the second, but inspiration struck this morning and it might actually be worth submitting after all. We'll see...

I've entered one this morning, submitted in the Group sex category. It's probably the one I've written that I'm most pleased with. Then again, that's how I felt with my last story too, and that one rated the worst in terms of vote score.

I've just entered a short third one, under Mind Control.

But the one I had intended for the contest is still stalled. :(

btw, I made a comment on the other page about the Editor's link, in which you can send messages to the listed editors on their page.

It does in fact work. I've messaged two editors using that thing and got messages back.

Mine is in... Group is the category but all the sex is.... Yeah, right.

Finished and submitted my second one. It's a fetish story, so I doubt it'll be terribly competitive, but a few of you out there are giong to love it. ;)

I have a Fetish story, a Mind Control story and a Loving wives (with no cheating with other partners). Any one of those three could be a contender for the Authors' Hangout Last Place (tm) Contest.

Last night I read through a printout of one of my entries. I had finished it weeks ago and re-read it several times. Only last night, hours after I had submitted it, did I notice that on Lit page 2 I had inadvertently switched the narrator for a few lines. I clicked on the blue pending this morning and corrected those lines.

I seem to have one error in every story I submit. Maybe its a sign of increasing age. I don't use an editor but try to review the story myself, then leave it for a few days before looking again. Almost as soon as I have hit the 'submit' button the error becomes glaringly obvious. Doh!

Read it from the back to the front to find more of those kind of errors. I have the same challenge. A guy shared this trick with me and it really seems like it should work.

I do that.

I also print it as a hard copy in a different font so that it isn't the same as it was on the screen. But I have to leave the story for a few days before I can read it for the final edit.

There's still a typo in my longest entry. I spotted it in passing, but didn't mark it there and then. Can I find it again? No.

It doesn't really matter. Most readers won't even see it.

Don't know if I'll make this one. Muse is comatose. Inner voices talk of other stuff. No tales beg to be told. Maybe I'll dust off a horrendous reject and see if it'll fly now. Beware exploding body parts if you see The Pharmacist (Randy's Revenge) hit the screen.

50k words and still have a few scenes to stitch in. I hope the novel category is good to go.

The 'Fool' aspect is more deceptive actions. Will see if I can get this mutha to the finish line.

And I thought mine was looking long...

Just goes to show you--there's always someone bigger.
